Put on a clinic. Has some Dirk in his game. Liking that trade up for him.

could he be a ROY candidate early?

He has some weaknesses like every player but he has a lot of advantages at the 4 and 5 on O.
whats his ceiling looking like at this early assessment?

Why? Boston is going to be bad and there will be minutes to go around. Jeff Green is ahead of him, but the fact he can play a little 3 will certainly free up some minutes for Kelly, as will games that get out of hand. I could see him averaging 12-15 ppg for Boston and that is usually enough to grab a few votes. Favorite, no, but I think he could be in the mix.

I don’t think anybody is ahead of him actually because Jeff Green will almost certainly start at SF and Kelly I’seems to be much better prepared to play a full NBA season before Sullinger can.

He has been the most impressive rookie so far in Orlando but we haven’t seen a lot of the top rookies play yet. His production has been better than I expected but he hasn’t played the cream of the crop when it comes to defensive big guys. Once he is being guarded by longer athletic and disciplined big men who won’t buy his fakes he will struggle much more. His range is no joke and I think he will have a good NBA career but I don’t think he will be that special.

His polished offensive game reminds me of Nik Vucevic a little bit but I don’t think he is nearly that level of a rebounder. He will never wow you with his defense but if he can hold his own he will have been a steal and teams like OKC that passed on him because of his lack of perceived upside will regret it.

He has been tremendously impressive at the summer league so far, showing his super advanced offensive game, but I don’t think he will be able to establish post position and seal his defender well enough at the NBA level to be really productive as a rookie. He also may struggle to finish at the rim in the NBA.

That said, he should be able to earn pretty big minutes and put points on the board. His ball handling ability and ability to score off the dribble is tremendous for a 7 footer and he could be a really good shooter. He also runs the floor really well and does a great job intuitively moving without the basketball. He could surprise a lot of people with his scoring, but he needs to prove himself as a defender to earn minutes.

He is going to score a lot early. Thats all you need. He will have a high fg% too. I disagree. He will be one of the better rookies.

Olynyk can ball. I’ve been impressed with his offensive skill.

I think he’ll get some votes for ROY and should be an all-rookie team selection.

He has been killin. Loving his game. He’s smart, crafty, and has 3 point range. A good passer too. I still worry about his lateral quickness and overall defensive abilities but he gives solid effort. Marc Gasol has always been a good comparison. OKC should have gone that route instead of the robot. Although Adams dwarfed even Andre Drummond at times today, big dude. Olynyk and Ibaka would have been a good compliment for each other.

I’m gonna get bashed for this but I have been extremely surprised with him. I think he could be a Pau Gasoline type player if he tightens up his shooting form.
