This is sort of an extensive of the Kawhi Leonard thread yet I wanted to make a separate thread for a targeted awnser.

In the other Kawhi Leonard thread the basicprinciples of the debate were asking whether or not Leonard was a top 10 player, if his offense was good enough to be in that category, or if his offence is simply being restrained due to the Spurs system. I think that statement is silly for this upcoming year.

If Kawhi is a better offensive player than Aldridge he will get more touches plain and simple but he is not. He is however a better defender and a great offensive weapon when considering his defensive skills. Yet if we rank him ahead of Aldridge for his ability to play on both ends than where do we rank Butler who has proven to be an effective two way player as well.

    So the questions are.

Is Kawhi Leonard a Top 10 player and does he rank higher than Aldridge.

Is Jimmy Butler a Top 10 player and does he rank higher than Aldrdge.

Who is better Kawhi or Jimmy.

IMO; No, but he’s a top 15 (11-13). No, but he is very close, and no one really knows until the season.
    No, and no.
    Kawhi.

As for Kawhi no! First should not get outplay by Matt Barnes in pivotal games 6 and 7 of a series…

He outplayed LeBron in the playoff series before though. It’s just how the world goes round I guess.

He didn’t outplay LeBron. San Antonio outplaye Miami and that’s all that matters to me,I wish we talked more about teams than players. LeBron was averaging like 26 points on 56% shooting. That wasn’t the reason why Miami lost, but rather every Heat role players were terrible in these Finals.

     Yes and yes for Kawhi.

Wall, Blake, Kawhi, CP3, Gasol, Westbrook, Durabt, LeBron, Curry, Davis, Harden all forsure are ranked higher than Butler. LaMarcus quit on his team last post season, sooooooooo until proven otherwise, he ain’t a top 10 player.

I would say yes for Kawhi because he is an elite defender with size and length. Also offensively he is really underratted he will surprise me with a fancy spin move, footwork, and makes tough shots. He is more advanced than given credit for perhaps becuase his quiet nature on the court and personality.

I haven’t done a players ranking, but he isn’t ahead of LA. I have him ahead of Butler though. But thats just me. I wouldn’t hate on anyone for picking Bulter over Kawhi. I won’t know who is better between the two until a year or two from now for me to be sure.

I haven’t ever done a top ten list really. If Kwahi isn’t just in the tail end of it he would at least almost cracks it.

Butler wins. Plays good D, great offense, can create.

Kawhi is the better defender, but because he is in the Spurs system, he isn’t featured so his offense is a bit behind.

On potential, Kawhi has Butler covered.

Butler, hes slowly becoming the guy on a Title contender… Kawhi has Popovich and that has helped his game ten fold

Kawhi is better for now.  They both do very similar things, but Kawhi is bigger and stronger, more athletic, more experienced, and more efficient.  That isn’t to take away from just how good Butler is, but Kawhi is just more.

I’ll go with butler on this, primarily because Bulter is a proven go to scorer and defensive venom, while Khawi though defensive venom also, but the spurs system would not show his real offensive firepower

Neither are top 10 overall right now imo but both could be by the time the season’s over. They are both probably somewhere in that 15-20 range.

Butler has the slightly more advanced offensive game right now as he is a better ball handler and passer while I’d give kawhi the slight edge defensively. Kawhi is also bigger and a better rebounder. If I had to choose one I’d go with Leonard but its very close.
