Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

I know the whole Kawhi Leonard praise has been overblown but I want to focus more on how far he has come since college. I remember a kid who was very raw offensively, couldn’t shoot, wasn’t accustomed to playing on the perimeter. Aside from his defensive potential, he wasn’t much of a basketball player. Tbh, I thought he would be a huge bust.

Now under the tutelage of Pop and company, he has turned into one of the best perimeter defenders and an excellent 3pt shooter at 38%. I don’t want to call him a product of the system (read: Mills, Patty) but his development has come a long way.

Who do you see out of this draft class that fits the mold of… well if he plays in the right setting will flourish, but if he goes to another team will really struggle? To me that player is Marcus Smart. If he goes to a team like the Lakers, I can see him learning a lot under Kobe. Kobe loves guys that play with his kind of passion. On the flip side, if Smart falls to a team like the Kings, I think he will really struggle. They already have ball dominant players and I just think a player like Smart needs a better system/group of veterans for him to reach his potential.

Wiggins. I dont necessarily thing he’ll be a product of the system or fail as a player if he doesnt get the right team, but surpassing or even reealizing some of these ridiculous expectations might be determined on system and coach.

With the right one, he could absolutely blow up. If not, he might max out at what kawhi is now.

I think EVERY guy in this draft is like that.  I don’t see a LeBron, Shaq, or Duncan that will DOMINATE no matter where he goes.

In the right system these guys will be really good.  If not, we could see more Mike Beasley, Derrick Williams, and Hasheem Thabeet types.

Not even Andrew Wiggins is a finished product.  He could have HUGE upside, or he could be just another athletic guy floating around the league.

I think any of those late first/early second round guys will be better if they go to San Antonio than virtually any other team.

I think Jarnell Stokes could be an all-star in San Antonio, OR he could be a mediocre backup on a dumpster fire team.

It’s veri important for young guys have an exaple to emulate in the team ( not only in work ethic, but even out , in real life).

I don’t see why everyone seems to think Kobe will be a great teacher. He has never had a reputation of being a good teacher, if anything, it’s been the opposite.
