A match up I had been waiting for, Minnesota and Knicks.

    KAT:        25pts -10rebs…. 11/21

    Porzingis: 11pts – 6rebs – 3ast -7 blk… 4/14

I didn’t see the game, who played better? It seems like if it wasn’t for the blks KAT would’ve clearly and throughly outplayed him, although I think he did.

So KAT finally started shooting threes and is shooting 50% from downtown with .8 attemps . He is a potential 50-40-90 guy. I think is only a matter of times before he becomes the best center in the league while providing stats and all sorts of intangibles.

As for Porzingis, I also see him becoming a top center in the L, and would like to see how he can score with defenses keyed on him as the best player on the team.

Porzingis, great as he can be as a scorer, might have his greatest value as a threat off the ball.  Think of how good Dirk is as a scorer, but even when he doesn’t score, how his gravity totally warps defenses, but imagine as a center.  That’s going to be unstoppable in a pick and roll.

I went to the game last night. Towns definitely looked like he got the better of KP. The 7 blocks were great but Towns knocked down jumper after jumper in KP’s face. Don’t know what the Knicks were thinking but they were almost daring Towns to shoot, and he was knocking everything down. That being said Porzingis missed a lot of makable open shots he normally hits, and if he did hit them he could have easily had around 20 pts. It was kind of frustarating because the crowd really wanted to get behind KP, but he just had a bad shooting night. This should definitely be a fun matchup to watch throughout the years. Both players are very special.

They sound like two IDEAL big men for today’s game and the FUTURE of today’s game.

Small Ball is in now, but I think next we will see BIG Small Ball.  Bigger do-it-all guards.

Then inside you have BIGS who can do it all: guard 4’s and 5’s, do pick and pops, guard the pick and roll, protect the rim, and hit the 3.

I think that is where KP and KAT have great value now and tremendous value for the future.

I bet we see some KP and KAT matchups in future all star games.

KAT shooting 50% on 3’s sounds Sam Perkins-esque.  I think that is a good comparison for him, and has been my most likely comparison for him since before the season started.  A great core guy, although KAT could end up being more of a go-to guy.  Who knows?  It’s up to him.  He has all the talent in the world.

You might be able to get away with playing a 6’8 guy like Draymond Green at center NOW, but not in the future when guys like KAT and KP are the big men of the future.

Growing up watching Shaq and Hakeem it’s great to see the next battle of the bigs, I’m sure 20 years from now people will be talking about these 2.

The game was fun to watch, I’m huge Twolves fan so I’m partial to Towns but I like KP a lot. He seemed like he dictated the game more than KAT, he’s huge! KAT’S numbers were better but KP is a scary player to go against, he’s a cross between Dirk and Rik Smits, but he is very quick and plays great D. The Knicks hit a home run and their lucky he fell to number 4.

Its good to see the return of the bigs in the NBA.
