Karl Towns Jr
I have only seen a little of towns jr, but from what I have seen and read he reminds me a little of Tim Duncan with more range on his shot. He seems to have great fundamentals and seems to be a finess player with post moves and a great jumper. Where do you all see him getting drafted? Thoughts?
#1 of course, but he will need to work on his post game as well as his strength to be a impact player right away. I was very impressed with him on limited minutes playing for the Dominican team.
I can see the comparison with the footwork and coordination. Kid is extremely coordinated and economic with his movement. He also has excellent post/high post passing instincts like a young TD. Whether he becomes a TD type will depend on how much he dedicates himself to working on his post game. He has the footwork, but he still has the tendency to drift out to the perimeter. He also needs to trim the baby fat and get stronger. He doesn't have quick feet nor is he explosive, so hopefully as he tones up that'll unlock some athleticism. He's already working with professionals on conditioning and strength training so he's well on his way.
I say he has the most potential in his class. Okafor has the better post game, but that's because he's exclusively a post player. Towns is more versatile offensively and is actually better defensively as a paint protector.
I'm starting to hate all these comparisons to NBA Hall-of-Famers.
At 7'1" I can't help but think he's too tall to be a very mobile defender in the NBA. He's got great size and length, but he's skinny and only has decent athleticism.
I'm thinking LaMarcus Aldridge at best, Roy Hibbert or Marcus Camby with a jump shot at worst.
Unless he's had a small growth spurt this yr, he's not 7'1. Besides, height has nothing to do with being a mobile defender. Mobility has something to do with being a mobile defender. I also wouldn't call him skinny either. He's got some extra baby fat on him still and lacks definition.
I don't like the comparisons to HOF'ers but in this case I see the similarity because of his combination of skill, coordination, fluidity and bball IQ. Physically he's not much to look at other than the long arms, but he already plays like a vet.
I see him as a Isaiah Austin type player
