these my two sleeper next season to match Jahlil for number 1 pick rather than Alexader or Turner

Nike Hoop Summit measurements are out and they both are BIG..

Mudayi looks like Westbrook measured legit 6’5 with 6’8.5 wingspan and already 196lbs frame..also after day1 practise it’s been said he shot the ball well and he was a special athlete..

Karl Towns measured legit 7feet with almost 7’4 winspan and a HUGE 9’5 standing reach (this in the category of DeAndre Jordan , McGee reach) and 248 pounds.. he led the scorers in day 1 practise too

Something I’ve wondered near the end of the tournament – how is Towns going to fit with Dakari Johnson? Dakari had a VERY good tournament and I would assume he’s coming back next season. Add in Lee coming off the bench and you’re stuck with 3 different Centers.

Can someone elaborate for me here?

Marcus Lee is a 4.  He will likely start over Lyles when Randle leaves for the draft.  That leaves just Dakari Johnson and Karl Towns at the 5.

He’s a 4? I watched him several times and he didn’t possess much of a PF’s game. Put back dunks and blocking shots, not really any ability to create his own offense other than pick/roll to the front of the rim.

If he intends to play 4 next year at UK, he has a LOT of work to put in on his offense.

Why do you say that Mudiay measured a "legit" 6’5 when he didn’t? He measured 6’5 in shoes which means that there is nothing "legit" about that height at all.

This is the reason that there is so much confusion about player’s heights out there. People will say that Mudiay is 6’5 now when in reality he is probably under 6’4.

My whole adult life I have been 5’10, but if I were to talk about myself like a basketball player I would probably be rounded up to 6’0. I would be happy to be 6’0 tall, but…I’m not.

    He isn’t 6’5 either.

My guess it’s a legit 6’5 because you don’t play basketball in your gym sock…lol

That is always the argument for measuring in shoes, but it is silly. Attaching the word "legit" to it is even worse. The reason that any posted measurement is ever in question is because there is so much fudging going on.

When you say that someone is "legit" that implies that this is the real deal. This is how tall they REALLY are.

Karl Towns will now be referred to as a 7 footer, when it reality he isnt 7 feet tall. His standing reach is 9’5, but that is in shoes. Nerlens Noel has a standing reach of 9’2 barefoot and people who don’t pay attention to the details are going to think that Towns has 3 inches on Noel when in reality we still don’t know what his ‘legit’ standing reach is.

Measurements are only one part of the equation, but they only have meaning if they are real in a scientific sense.

I agree, You absolutely right with your points, all those Americans who gave you negatives, i don’t know why they always get so offended when someone criticise that measurement part, it’s indeed silly…

I don’t understand the negatives either. We are basketball fans right? Don’t we actually want to compare players and their physical attributes accurately so we can really put it into perspective and evaluate propects?

Height, in and of itself, isn’t all that big a deal anyway other than the fact that it is somewhat related the the metrics that really do matter. For example, let’s compare Andre Drummond and Deandre Jordan who are both the same exact height.

They are both 6’9.75, but Jordan’s standing reach is 4 inches taller at 9’5.5 compared to 9’1.5. That is a pretty important distinction between them don’t you think? The only way to determine these things is by accurately measuring people and then accurately reporting on it.

Until the players get measured during the predraft process we only have rough estimates of their size. I can’t wait to find out the "legit" measurements of all of the top prospects.

It is somewhat understandable that  players’ size is listed in shoes, but some players grow up to 2 inches with gear they’ll never use in-game. From what I’ve seen 1.25” is the average and that should probably be used as standard shoe height for all NBA players.

Just because Marcus Lee dcant create his own shot dosent mean he’s not an 4. Guys like Taj Gibson , Farried, Ma.Plumlee,Tristan Thompson and others can creat there own offense either. His ability to switch on the perimeter, defend the P&R and protect the rim make him more suited to play the PF position in today’s NBA

I don’t think you can compare mason plumlee to taj Gibson or Kenneth faried. Taj has been putting people to work in the post, even the supposed DPOY Roy hibbert. Faried also is to quick to guard in the post and definitely can create his own offense. Plums on the other hand…smh

Not coming into the league he couldn’t? I’m from Chicago and I remember when taj was first drafter he couldn’t do anything but dunk. Keep on mind that Gibson came in as an 24 year old senior and still had no polish offensively. He’s work hard to devolpe his hook shot and drop step moves. Farried on the other had is almost the same way and even now he rushes his offense and has some pretty bad misses. Why can’t Marcus Lee devolpe into the same type of player? He’s an freshman and is learning the game

every year, theres a athletic guard who people compare to Westbrook lol. this year is Mudiay. to me, Mudiay is a 2. he’d probably get some run at the point, but i see him being a 2 down the road.

Towns can stretch the floor for a 7 footer. the one worry with him is playing soft.

IMO, when all is said and done next season the #1 pick will be contested heavily by Stanley Johnson. I know he seems to have slid out of many HS top 5 lists but there is no other high school player I come away from games more impressed with than this kid. His skill set, work ethic, all-around game, athleticism and build should help him excel at Arizona from day one.

I agree. After watching the McDonald’s All American game for the 2nd time, nobody screams surefire "stud" more than Stanley Johnson.  He’s got it all.

This site has him at #15 right now, but mark my words.  He’ll be top 5 by the same time next year.

Hey Cavsfan,  I agree from what you’ve seen of Lee he looks like a 5.  The 5 in Calipari’s offense doesn’t do anything but rebounds/lobs/put backs.   I’m not sure why??  He’s had 2 Centers that could shoot from the outside but they didn’t take very many 3s or outside shots.     (Anthony Davis and Josh Harrellson)     Will be interesting how he handles Karl Towns skill set…..

Lee doesn’t fit the exact mold of a Calipari 4 – but he’s actually more skilled then what he’s shown so far.  I’m not saying he’s going to wow you with back to basket moves and such,  but he’s pretty coordinated and has a soft touch.  He also handles the ball fairly well and is obviously very mobile.   I don’t know what he looks like from 15-20ft though….not sure if he has a jump shot.

Stanley Johnson looked pretty damn good to me too….  Will be interesting if Nick Johnson and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson come back… will definitely limit his minutes.
