Karl Malone on Deron William’s excuse for being angry because of Jerry Sloan’s lack of film watching.

"You’re a professional," said Malone, a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player and one of greatest power forwards in league history. "You don’t need for me to break a film down for you. If you want to stop the guy you’re playing, they pay you millions of dollars. You get you a TV and break the player down yourself."

Williams deserves to get ripped. He was supposed to embrace the leadership role more than he ever has this season and all he’s done is make excuses and blame everybody else. His body language has been pathetic. He’s been a crybaby diva who’s done nothing, but complain.

Bottomline: You cant rip a coaches’ style when hes someone whose been around and won as many games as Sloan has. Especially when its not like Utah was losing.

He did blame his teamates in an early lost to the Celtics too. He is overrated as a playmaker not as a player IMO because he always has the ball his assist are high. He is more of a scorer to me. I do not believe he can carry a team. He is not great on D. Not saying he is bad, but he is not keeping anyone out of the lane with speed. That being said Sloan was overrated. No titles. Boozer rejected dealing with him, and so has Williams. It’s both of their faults. I am not crying for Sloan either and he is not a bad guy I respect his coaching, but he is not Pop or Phil  so this really is whateva.

Malone is a terrible human being. A great basketball player but a godawful person. He isn’t in a position to judge anybody on professionalism.

I heard what Malone said but I don’t think he was purposely ripping Williams. He does not know if its true he may believe it is, but he doesn’t know it for a fact. He’s just simply saying that if it is true then the guilty needs to man up and confess his guiltiness. Now if it really is Williams fault that Coach Sloan retired and he listened to what Malone said, then he will do so. But its not true. I know its not true. Williams is not gonna man up because he didn’t do it. Malone knows Sloan would never just quit for no reason. That’s not him. And he’s right, there has to be a reason why Sloan quit but don’t point the finger at Dwill. Here’s what I think.

Sloan knows the Jazz are better than the way they are playing. He knows they can make the playoffs and he wants desperately to do so, to not tarnish his record or worse, his legacy. He’s tried to do everything he can to instill some fight into this team but they still can’t win. Not because the team isn’t listening to him or because they don’t respect him, but because he has lost his fire. He still has the passion and the will but the league has gotten better. His system still works but not good enough to make into the top 3 seed of the playoffs. This is where Sloan wants the Jazz to finish because he knows the potential they have. He knows that it is not possible because of the way the Jazz are playing. He is starting to think that the Jazz will get 8th place or worse not make the playoffs. And he’s right, the way the Jazz are playing that’s exactly where they will finish if they don’t turn it around. Like I said before, he’s tried to do that while he was coach (Why do you think we call them the "Comeback Kings"?) Its not that the players aren’t listening to him its the league, they have gotten better and its impossible for the Jazz to get a top 3 seed in Sloan’s system. They can still make the playoffs in his system but not a top 3 seed. He knows the Jazz need a change and so he is trying to instill that by resigning, not because some star player is forcing him into retirement. He is much stronger than that.

Thats one reason, The second reason is because he’s tired. He’s been coaching for like 26 years. That’s a freaking long time and he’s done a darn good job, he needs to rest and enjoy his retirement. He’s about 70 years old. Most men have retired by his age. And most men are proud to do so because they need a break.

Let him do so, don’t just ridicule his name and his legacy by saying that a star player did this to him. Like I said he’s better than that.

Karl Malone has always been a outspoken, judgmental, hypocritical fool. Hes like basketballs Curt Schilling. Just remember Karl, you, Sloan, and Williams have the same number of Chambionships. Maybe something needed to change.

Anybody that disown their own kids and say that they shouldnt expect anything from him..Shouldnt be giving anyone else’s kid advice…

Poll any high profile player from the 80’s and 90’s and ask them what player from their era, they disliked the most..I bet Karl Malone’s name is on 75% of the ballots…

Malone was a Hall of Fame player and a Hall of Fame A-Hole…It was Malone that said Magic shouldnt be allowed back on the court…After Magic revealed his HIV situation….

Malone has been married to the former Kay Kinsey, winner of the 1988 Miss Idaho USA pageant, since December 24, 1990. They have four children: daughter Kadee (born 1991), daughter Kylee (born 1993), son Karl, Jr. (born 1995), and daughter Karlee (born 1998).

In 1998, the tabloid newspaper The Globe reported that Malone had been a defendant in paternity lawsuits, filed shortly after Malone began his professional basketball career in the late 1980s, which alleged that he was the father of three children by two women from his hometown of Summerfield, Louisiana: Demetrius Bell and twins Daryl and Cheryl Ford. Malone was 17 when the Ford twins were born to Bonita Ford, who was approximately the same age. However, when 20-year-old Malone conceived Demetrius, Gloria Bell was only 13.[4] The Salt Lake Tribune conducted a follow-up investigation and reported that in the aftermath of the Globe story, Malone had met with the Ford twins for the first time since visiting them in the hospital after they were born. Malone did not meet with Bell at that time, and Malone’s attorney insisted that Malone had settled the lawsuits prior to any conclusive establishment of paternity, and thus still did not know whether he was truly the father of any of the children.

The Tribune confirmed that the judge in the Bell lawsuit ruled Malone to be the father, not based on presented evidence, but rather because Malone did not respond to the suit. However, the paper also examined court documents detailing the evidence that was to have been presented had Malone responded and a trial ensued. One of the items listed was a laboratory blood test which concluded with over 99 percent certainty that Bell’s father was either Malone or a brother of Malone. The paper also reported that applying that same blood sample to the Ford twins resulted in a similarly high probability of paternity by Malone.[5][6] According to the Tribune, Malone challenged the court’s ruling with regard to Bell, claiming that the judgment holding him responsible for $125 per week in child support, plus past and future medical expenses, was excessive. Before Malone’s appeal was adjudicated, the lawsuit was settled on confidential terms. In the case regarding the Ford twins, Malone was ruled to be their father when he violated a court order by refusing to reveal his assets or submit to a DNA test. Thereafter, another out-of-court settlement was reached.[5]

By the fall of 1998, Malone accepted his paternity of the Ford twins, and Kay Malone spoke publicly of the twins being members of the Malone family.[7] Since that time, Karl Malone has maintained a relationship with the twins, each of whom later played college basketball at his alma mater of Louisiana Tech University. Cheryl Ford went on to a professional basketball career with the Detroit Shock of the Women’s National Basketball Association.

To date, Malone has made no public comment with regard to Bell, who is now an offensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League. In 2008, The Buffalo Newsreported that Bell’s first and only meeting with Malone came shortly after Bell graduated from high school. According to Bell, Malone told him at that time that it was "too late" for them to have a father-son relationship.[8]

larry bird had a similar situation with a daughter that he ignored and refused to be a part of her life, although at least his example was not impregnating a 13 year old.

Sloan has been a good coach and all, and he seems to get the most out of his players over the years, but it isn’t about what you’ve done in the past. It’s about what have you done lately. People just don’t get passes just because they have lifetime achievement awards. The Jazz has been nothing more than a mediocre playoff team, and something needs to change. I can assure you that Deron Williams is the last thing that needs to be changed on that team unless they want to digress. They are the same type of team as the Hawks in my eyes.

Malone is the last person who should have anything about this. Maybe if Sloan and the Jazz watched film, Malone probably would have had a ring. Sloan’s system isn’t flawless or anything of the sort. Like I said, it hasn’t won the Jazz anything so something needs to change.

No question karl malone is a d-bag, but i dont disagree with his statements regarding the sloan situation.  And i dont think sloan’s style/method of coaching is outdated either.  Half court high screen and roll based offences still dominate, see boston.  You put sloan as coach of the celtics and i’m pretty sure he gets the ring he’s been after this year.  Unfortunately heading towards free agency deron williams is more concerned about his numbers than rondo, who is happy to get his 10 shots per game and be a distributer. Granted i’m an old a-hole who expects players to do what they’re told as hard as they can.  maybe a nancy boy like triano would fit better in deron williams’ vision of utah b-ball.
