The new head coach of Kansas State is recently fired Illinois head coach Bruce Weber.

I personally don’t forsee any improvement for the Wildcats considering Bruce Weber’s success, or lack thereof. He went 55-66 in the last 6 seasons in the Big 10, despiting having relatively talented team.

What do you guys think of this hire? Do you see Bruce Weber having success at KSU?

 Not a great hire, Weber took over a dominant team built by Bill Self and through poor recruiting turned them into a school that doesn’t even make the NCAA tournament every year.    I think Weber is a great Mid-Major coach, but put in a major conference he just doesn’t have what it takes to get recruits. IMO.

I think a wiser move would to have tried to pull a guy from a successful program like Steve Fisher.  He’s built SDSU up from nothing, has major conference success and experience and probably would like to get back into a major conference.

Lon Kruger has KSU ties, but who knows if he was interested after just signing with OU.

Or any number of top young assistants would all have been better than Weber.  He’s in his 60’s is coming off a season in which his team didn’t make the NCAA tournament and has trouble recruiting.  I think this shows that KSU isn’t as serious about their basketball program now that their football program has rebounded.

I wish they promoted Brad Underwood. I played basketball with his son for a few years.
