PHXSUNDREAMPICK13ParticipantThe network just sourced that Love won’t sign an extension and is interested in signing with G state or Chicago. K Love will need to be dealt for a return. Who gets packaged from these two teams or which team makes the trade to satisfy Wolves/Love?

aramboneParticipantFrom Chicago, picks 16 and 19 isn’t a bad place to start.
Minny already has a great post scorer in Pekovic who could easily be a 20+ ppg scorer, with high efficiency, if only given more shots.
Add in Butler, the Bulls mid-second rounder, and a future first or two.
0- Posted on: Sun, 05/18/2014 - 6:35am #902933
aramboneParticipantMinny would then have:
13 (Porzingis?)
16 (Payne?)
19 (Napier?)
40 GFreak2?
44 (Nick Johnson?)
49
53 (McAdoo?)
That’s a lot of picks in a great draft, plenty of pieces to move up a couple times, and plenty of euros to stash as well.

Chilbert arenasParticipantGState gives up David Lee, Harrison Barnes, and 2015 1st round pick for Love. Who says no?
Let me admit this the first time I’ve ever suggested a trade on this site, I typically know better. But it’s going to take a lot more than just a bunch of picks in this draft. 6 rookies sounds like the 6ers this year

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantMinnesota says no. Harrison barnes stock is too low right now and you can’t trade back to back picks. GSW already traded 2 picks to Utah to help facilitate the iguodala trade.
I think Chicago could offer any of taj gibson,16 and/or 19 and also mirotic. Any combination of all those assets .
Gibson would help minnys defense and then they could use 16 and 19 along with their pick to possible even move up.
Or maybe they take mirotic and the picks. And they also have snell or butler as well.
Chicago simply has more assets.

MopgrassParticipantPeople keep mentioning the Lakers trading for Love and I don’t see how. Perhaps, if the Warriors did send Lee, Barnes, and a 1st rounder, the Lakers could sign and trade Gasol and get Barnes. Maybe. But I don’t see how they get Love this year.

machu46ParticipantIf I remember right, Golden State doesn’t really have picks to offer for awhile. I would think they’d have to trade both Barnes and Thompson to get Minnesota to take back David Lee’s contract. If it’s just one of the two and Lee, I’d rather just grab Boston or LA’s first round pick.

JoeWolf1I think the Bulls would have to give up Gibson or Mirotic as a part of the package to make it work. Having both is a nice luxury, but I’d have to think 13 and 19 would be Minne’s and maybe some more down the line.
Butler and Snell are nice young assets, but the Wolves have Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Cory Brewer who are essentially very similar players.
If Chicago wanted to get this done, I think they’d need to trade Gibson or Mirotic with some draft picks, and maybe an expiring contract to make it work.

benny15Participantas a warrior fan, i would love to add Kevin Love in our line-up. i appreciate everything Lee has done for us and was huge in bringing in his blue collar approach to the organization, but Love would make the league take the warriors more seriously as contenders.
what i dont like is that who else might likely be involved in the deal. sure harrison barnes will be missed since he has great upside and can be a very good player down the road, but his fit was suddenly placed into question when we signed iguodala last off-season. no, who i dont want to part with is the other half of the splash brother, one of our best defenders, Klay Thompson.
im almost sure the asking price of kevin love for the warriors would be at least those three players. sure we can negotiate, try to swap klay for some future first rounders, or swap him with one of our other young talents that are still in their rookie deals, but ultimately, i dont think the timberwolves management would budge from their demand of Thompson be included in the deal.
what i actually see more is them trying to off-set it being dealing us Kevin Martin as well which would fill up the starting 2 guard position for us. it would also benefit minny though since it would allow them to part with the second contract they have on the roster, although martin is appropriately paid IMO.
this would then lead to us having the worst defensive starting back-court in the league with curry and martin. sure our offense would be even stronger with the upgrade of Love over Lee, but i honestly dont want my warriors to turn into a team that simply tries to outscore the opposing team. can it work though? absolutely, could we be stronger over-all, possibly. but it will still be difficult parting with Klay after seeing how far he’s developed and how much he’s a key part of what we do on both ends of the court.
on the other hand, the bulls will have to feel a simillar type of loss in Taj Gibson. im as sure of the timberwolves wanting him part of their offer as i am they would want klay part of ours. the big difference though is that the bulls have more trade assets and can try and convince minny of just taking boozer’s would be expiring deal while getting the rights to mirotic who would serve as their PF prospect.
and just as we would be parting with barnes, they would do so with a more well rounded and supperior defender in jimmy butler. their 16th and 19th pick could make their deal more attractive on draft night, the very first time a deal could be struck.
and if push comes to shove, the bulls can strengthen their offer by giving both gibson and boozer while also taking back pekovic from minny to relieve them of his large long term deal with them. minny would then have a very solid PF rotation between Gibson and Mirotic, rounded by Dieng as the starting center, and adding young talent with their 2nd and 3rd first rounder which could be used either to trade up in the board or take talented players in a draft as deep as this.

mazah13ParticipantBoston’s owners want to win now. Their top 5 pick, future net’s 1st, and Sullinger for Love. I know this is alot but could be what it takes depending on other offers. Might get away with excluding another 1st.

Sewok15ParticipantHow is Boston going to win now…they don’t exactly have much talent. Adding Love makes them a playoff team but not a contender.

Ebown5ParticipantIf I’m the Twolves and have my hand forced in trading Love I would want draft picks and salary cap space.
I’m not sure why they would ever try to swap him for good players on expensive deals. They would be rebuilding.

benny15Participanti think this is more to point out that these teams may offer the most for Love who could guarantee to sign an extension with them since other teams who wont receive that guarantee will not part with valuable assets the timberwolves would want

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantAs much as I’ve loved having him in Minnesota, I don’t blame Love for wanting to leave. The management and coaching (if you can even call it that, lol) has basically treated him like crap since day 1, and he deserves better. The teams mentioned as possible interest to him are: Chicago, GSW, LAL, NYK or Brooklyn, Boston, and Phoenix. The Wolves need to also shed some of their horrible contracts (Kevin Martin, Chase Budinger, Corey Brewer, JJ Barea), and could use a deal for Love to do that.
Chicago probably has the most to offer out of any of these. They can offer some combination of Butler, Mrotic and/or Gibson, they have good picks to offer, and they potentially could throw in Boozer if they’re willing to take on some of the Wolves crappy contracts. I’d love it if the Wolves potentially tried to snag Thibs out of this, because some of the names they’ve interviewed for the HC job are…awful (PJ Carlesimo?! Scott Skiles?! L-O-frickin-L).
Phoenix probably has the next best offer. Some combination of Dragic or Bledsoe, Len, one of the Morris twins, possibly Gerald Green, and their bounty of draft picks could build the foundation of a good offer.
Boston is probably the next best. I’d take something along the lines of any combination of Sullinger/Bradley/Olynyk, and their lotto pick this year, possibly another pick for Love. Maybe throw in Brandon Bass or some other salary filler to make them take on some of our crappy contracts.
GSW…I hope they don’t trade him there. Barnes is not even close to a good enough prospect to replace Love. He’ll be solid, but I can’t see him becoming a superstar. Ditto goes to Klay Thompson. Also, David Lee’s contract is an albatross, and I’ll assume he’ll be a piece. The only way I’d accept a GSW deal if I were MN is if it were: some combo of Thompson, Barnes, Draymond Green, draft picks, and Lee for Love and a salary dump of our horrible deals.
I’m tying all of the big market teams at the bottom of the barrel (LAL, NYK, BKN). The Lakers have basically nothing going for them except for their lotto pick if it’s high enough. Besides that, what, are they gonna say old Pau Gasol, Kendall Marshall/Xavier Henry/Ryan Kelly, Wes Johnson for Love? LOL. NYK has nothing of value either; they’ve traded away a lot of their picks, and their expiring contracts won’t be worth it because Minnesota isn’t a place top free agents want to go, no matter how much money they throw out. Brooklyn has no draft picks basically until 2020, so they’re out, plus they’re full of old veterans that aren’t worth trading for. Lopez is also too injury prone.

DolanCareParticipantThe Bulls have two first round draft picks this year which is a great place to start from the bargaining table. So they probably have the edge on Golden State in the KLove auction. That being said I like the GS assets a little bit more.
If I was Minny and wanted to work with GS, I’d do:
Minny trades: Kevin Love and Kevin Martin. (Martin doesn’t play defensive, isn’t getting any longer and has a 4 year deal. It makes sense to dump him).
Golden State trades: David Lee, Harrison Barnes, Nemanja Nedovic and 2015 draft pick.

Ghost01ParticipantI think the Bulls have a decent shot at either him or Melo. They clearly would want either, and they have a decent amount of assets.
2 firsts, Mirotic, Butler, Gibson, Boozer’s expiring deal…there are options to play with.
As a Bulls fan who has struggled through the last 2 seasons, I am pretty much fine with any deal to land either Love or Melo. The East stinks, its worth rolling the dice.

maravich44ParticipantThe Bulls need Love very badly. All the talk has been about Carmelo Anthony. While the Bulls need a scorer, Melo doesn’t mesh with Tibs or the team first mentality Bulls have. Love is more of a complete offensive player and adds rebounding. Also, he is younger than Melo and works out with Rose.
Bulls have 2 mid 1st round picks in a deep draft. Gibson and Butler are quality, proven players and Mirotic is the wildcard in the mix. Some combination of these assets should satisfy Timberwolves and bring Love to Chicago.

Hope he ends up on the Bulls. I’d love to see Love and Noah front court and keep him out of the Western Conference.
