Jahlil Okafor has received all the hype as the top incoming freshman in the ACC and rightfully so. The guy has a chance to be really good. I think Justin Jackson is flying under the radar and could snatch that ACC ROY away from Okafor if he performs up to his abilities. In UNC’s first two exhibition games, albeit against Fayetteville State and Belmont Abbey, Justin has ben amazingly efficient and filled the stat sheet during both games. Just like Duke was starved for a dominant post presence like Okafor, UNC was starved for a second scorer next to Marcus Paige. Jackson is painfully thin, but he’s long, athletic and is just really a natural scorer. He’ll be a starter for Roy immediately and be able to stretch the defenses with his shooting. He’ll take some pressure off Marcus Paige as well. I think Paige’s scoring numbers will go down slightly because he has more help this season, but he’ll be more efficient. I think Okafor will take the ACC ROY because he’ll be dominant and get his touches, but Justin Jackson could make the race tight and I expect him to have a great year for the tar heels which could possibly be his only year in Chapel Hill.

are going to give this team a toughness that they haven’t had in years!

I thought McAdoo was stealing minutes from the frontcourt last year, but I get that you can’t bench such a highly rated player… it would affect future recruiting efforts. Now I want to see Brice get a leading role in the frontcourt.

Where does Britt fit in at the guard sport with Paige and Berry? Does he bump out Berry or vice versa? If both get playing time which wing is losing minutes at the 2?

jackson has been outstanding in their 2 preseason starts..and appear to have beaten out all the competition to be the starting sf…

i might be in the minority on this, but i think theo pinson will be the better player……

Jackson is better now for sure. Pinson won’t start. Pinson really needs to work on that shot, but if he develops something resembling a good looking shot, he’ll be the guy to watch. That’d take some time.

Theo is an explosive athlete without anywhere close to the skill level of Justin Jackson. Theo is like a more talented JP Tokoto. I couldn’t believe how raw offensively Tokoto was coming in. His outside shot was terrible. He’s put a ton of work in on it with Hubert Davis and now he’s a pretty good mid-range shooter. His epic free throw bomb against Belmont at home last year will never be forgotten. Theo has a chance to be a really good player, but for now, I like Justin Jackson much more than Theo.
