Last night was the Elite 24 Three Point Shootout and Dunk Contest. The Shootout was not surprisingly won by dead eye Kansas commit Conner Frankamp, with last minute Elite 24 addition Rashad Vaughn finishing runner-up. The Dunk Contest was won by Julius Randle with a nice behind-the-back throw down that garnered a perfect score. Runner-up was Canadian sophomore Jamar Ergas, who plays at Florida’s Monteverde Prep.

Only reason I am bringing this up is due to my being absolutely sure someone would ask so, no, do not believe Andrew Wiggins was in the contest. Am unsure of Andrew’s status for the game, have heard nothing about him missing it (even though there is a Canadian Men’s Team Mini Camp this weekend). Really would have love to see him in the contest, as I know he can fly. Hoping he is in the game tonight, but regardless should be a fun contest.

Well, did not get a chance to watch the contest and all I could find was Randle’s winning dunk. Sure there must have been some sweet throw downs and if anyone did watch, would love to hear thoughts. The twitter hype I saw was that some people were saying Justise Winslow got robbed early on. Thought Julius’ winning dunk was nice, powerful athlete.

I have watched quite a bit of Julius Randle and my first him impressions were that he was just an average athlete. I retract my statement after watching more and more of him lately, I think his athleticism is actually quite good. He his not an elite athlete ala Andrew Wiggins, but he definitely has enough to be successful in college and even the pro level.

What’s up MikeyV!!! Julius def threw it down, but Winslow was pretty impressive also.  Your fellow Canadian Ergas looked a lil nervous.  He also transfered to Riverside Christian in North Carolina for his sophomore year. Wasn’t seeing much PT at Montverde.  Anyways hope you had a nice summer bro.

Hope the same for you, bro. Good looking out on the Jamar Ergas thing, slipped by me that he was transferring. Have been going kind of basketball crazy, trying to get all of the profiles tight so everyone can get the best info possible for their Mock Drafts for 2013 and beyond. Other than that, playing a lot of ball and just living life. Hope your summer is going well and thanks again for the info.

The announcer said he’s never seen anyone go behind the back before? Then why is he commenting on a dunk contest? JR Smith in 05, Iggy in 06 are the first two that come to mind, and it’s been done in the elite 24 before as well.
