Julius Randle is turning into the guy we thought he was.  He played well all year, but now he is on the big stage.  He is the last "flashy freshman" left.  He has a great old school type game but he also has some flair.

He might not turn into the top power forward in NBA history.  Tim Duncan has the 4/5 spot locked down, with Karl Malone being the prototype "true" power forward.

But this Randle kid can rebound, mix it up, score, and handle the basketball.

I think he would be an awesome fit on the Kings paired next to DeMarcus Cousins.  Or in Philly as the next guy in the Moses Malone, Charles Barkley line of succession.

If he goes to the right team, and plays for a coach that helps him expand his game, hones his fundamentals, but also lets him do some freelancing, Julius Randle is my pick for next year’s ROY.

Interestingly enough, Julius Randle is in the Final Four.  He is perhaps the biggest name player still left standing, with Shabazz Napier being somewhere behind him.

All year Julius Randle has been compared to Zach Randolph, or Chris Webber, or Derrick Coleman.  Or even the multi-talented Larry Johnson.  And, what about former Kentucky greats Jamal Mashburn and Antoine Walker?  Guess what?  All of those guys made the Final Four with LJ and Antoine Walker winning a title, and C Webb and DC coming up short in the title game (C Webb lost two finals).

So, Julius Randle is in good company.  He is a hyped up guy coming in who lived up to the hype.  He does what a power forward should.  He even does some C Webb type things that make you think he can really expand his game.  And, like Chris Webber he has powered a LOADED class of freshman all the way to the Final Four.  He is also up there with other versatile Kentucky greats like Jamal Mashburn (who helped resurrect the program), and Walker (who helped give Kentucky its first title in years).  Oh, and all those other guys were all-stars too.

So let’s keep a look out for Julius Randle.  He’s in good company.

For all the Zach Randolph/Randle comparisons, its actually Dakari Johnson who reminds me on Randolph. Wide base, doesnt jump high, good touch, rim scraper dunks.

    Randle is a freak.

The Big Blue Machine has big men everywhere.

Interesting to see how pretty much all the guys Randle has been compared to have gone to the Final Four, and have then become NBA All Stars.

I see him as a game changing chris webber, he’s been excellent below the rim all year.

Randle is having a great tournament and his regular season, while a little below expectations, was still good. He will need to develop a better jump shot in the NBA to keep the longer defenders honest, bu at 70% + free throws think he can easily do it.

He is nowhere near the same skill level of Chris Webber and the Kemp comparison is just off. Randle is going to be a very rare player, his skills will translate to the NBA by just beating up other bigs. Alot of people say hr wont push around NBA players like he does NCAA layers…this is a kid we are talking about he is barely 20. Imagine when he is a man. He is the closest thing to a monster you can find he is a beast.

Randle will improve any teams rebounding immediatly and be somewhat of a skilled Kenneth Faried. Imagine Faried with a jumpshot and post moves and also a bit more muscle. Thats the player hebis NOW not in four years, perhaps, maybe, if. This guy is an anomaly and deserves consideration for the 1st pick but like Ive insisted before I would rather have an elite wing or center than an elite PF.

I actually hope he goes to LA the worst rebounding team Ive ever watched. Randle would be an instant hit and a great compliment to Kobe playing the role Gasol never would.

I think he is alot like another UK alumni……. Jamal Mashburn.  Mash relied on his jumper more, but both are relentless on the boards and just have a nose for being in the right spots.  Randle, like Mash, is an underrated passer.  Many forget that Mash avg 20, 5 and 5 in the league.  I see Randle doing similar numbers with obviously more rebs.

Both are dark skin with short or bald hair and left hand…  That’s when it ends…  I like Zach but he does not have the motor like Randle has…  Randle tend to jump on his floaters and around the basket, I can’t think of the last time (actually any) I’ve seen Zach dunk, or attempt a put back dunk…  Zach isnt as quick as Randle, with Zach  getting his shot off by power and unorthodox shots…

Mashburn was a 3…  Played some 4 but he was mostly a 3 in the league standing at 6’7 and mid range…  Mashburn was more Glen Robinson than  a Derrick Coleman type player…
