jwall1ParticipantTonight he went 25pts 13reb on 6/7 shooting and 13/14 from the line. Thought I would start a thread on him because I feel that he deserves more respect than he gets. He really is a freak athlete for his size/weight with a ridiculously good handles, and personally I have never seen a big guy with a first step as quick as Randles… I really do not see how he could fall out of the top 4, the kid is a monster.

3 No Biases 3ParticipantFinally….Found someone else who has actually watched Randle play and doesn’t throw out baseless criticisms.
I agree with everything you said. I’ve been talking about his handle all season. Its the best I’ve seen from a guy who is considered a 4 man. The people who can’t see his enormous potential are the ones who are just hoping he fails. I’ll say he goes top 3 with full confidence when draft rolls around.

ChrispyParticipantAs someone who even started a thread titled, "Julius Randle is a Monster", let me state a few things. 1) I think he will be a very good pro 2) He won’t drop out of the top 5 3) He will benefit from the extra spacing in the NBA 4) His handles are NOT underrated. Julius has fine handles for a 4 in space, but his big issues this year have been two-fold 1) His handles are not tight in traffic and 2) when he beats a defender from the perimeter it is almost always to his right (as his left is usually taken away on close-out), but he then spins back to his left into help defense. He turns it over sooooo much. I think he honestly overestimates his handles and needs to check that aspect of his game until he sufficiently improves. I still love him as a prospect, but the criticisms (as with the example above) are NOT baseless.

jwall1ParticipantI agree. I am really just stating how his handles (for a big) are very, very good. His biggest criticism on here is that he is a tweener, which simply is not true. He is a 6’9 powerforward and he commits to his position and plays it well. Does he have freakish size, no, but there is no reason why he cannot play the 4 successfully in the NBA. He has similar size/strength to ZBO and ontop of it is 10 times as athletic.

ChrispyParticipantWas actually aiming that more at the dude who responded to you. I think he does need to work on his inside game to play the four and he does need to iron out his perimeter game to play the 3, but that isn’t any different than many other players before him. Maybe he can eventually be a push the rebound player like Blake has become recently or Barkley was is decades gone by. Who knows. It really is up to him how good he wants to be at this point…

3 No Biases 3ParticipantMOST of his criticisms are baseless and his handles are WAY underrated because no one understands how much his handle will benefit him in the NBA. He has his flaws but turnovers are literally the most non-important thing in evaluating a freshman prospect, turnovers are the easiest thing to eliminate when you have monster talent like Randles. It would only be an issue if you are turning it over due to lack of athleticism…

ChrispyParticipantSo his handles are underrated because we can’t see the future? Logical fallacies abound, my friend.

3 No Biases 3ParticipantYou’re a dick dude…I mentioned baseless criticisms and you came back and said the one criticism that wasn’t off base. You clearly missed the point.
And yes, ball handling may be the most underrated aspect in a superstars game, its what seperates Durant from guys like Perry Jones, Blake Griffin from guys like Anthony Randolph, Kobe from guys like Ray Allen….Maybe bad comparisons but ball-handling especially like Randles doesn’t come around much and is severely overlooked…

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantStauskas is known as a shooter, but Randle has a better FT%. Heh. A big man with a legit free throw stroke will always be an asset.

imAboutDatActionParticipanthe played great. people seem to think his production going down from the start of the year has to do with being "exposed" or jus overrated, when in fact when you watch Kentucky play he’s always double/even tripled team all game. the only time he ever gets a chance at going 1 on 1 is getting the ball at the permiter and trying to beat his defender of the dribble.
he’s a straight up Bully down low. he has great body control even when going up for a layup at a werid angle.he jus needs to develop some post moves down low, since he wont be able to bully NBA PFs every game.
he has shown flases of a jumper, jus hasnt shot it much. with more reps and confidence,a jumper can be a staple in his game.
now,his length may be a problem. he’s not a good defender and his lack of length is part of the reason. Along with jus lack of effort.i doubt he will ever develop into a defender.but his offensive upside is high enough to risk a top 5 pick on him.
