J.R. Smith vs DeMar DeRozan for Dunk of the Year
Although both JR and Demar had beautiful dunks, that I could hear all the way in connecticut. Blakes dunk on Mozgov has to be the dunk of the year so far. He dunked on that guy the way no man should ever dunk on someone. It was simply impressive and to me that is the dunk of the year so far. Mozgov hasnt been the same since, and apparently the only smell he has is of blakes nuts. hense wh he was removed from the starting lineup. poor guy.
"I don't call not touching the rim a dunk sorry. He threw it in."
Him throwing the ball in the goal is actually to me above simply being called a dunk, I think I'll call it "Blake Griffin makes a play over Timofey" insteads of "dunks over Timofey". haha
A dunk is when the ball is thrown thru the rim with Force. Griffin exemplified that on his dunk over Mozgov. Him not toughing the rim almost made it better because it showed you just how high and with how much force he thru it down. But I think the best dunk all year is actually Griffin's dunk on Gallinari, the dude just spun from like the 3 point line took two steps and exploded sideways from like a step inside the foul line and threw it down hard.
Westbrook's dunk on Battier tho is 1B.
And I thought Iguadola's dunk on the Nets was better then DDR's. DDR made an amazing play but the degree of difficulty wasn't as high as Iguadola's dunk. Iggy jump from the opposite side of the rim went under AND behind the backboard only to emerge on the other side for a tomahawk. It reminded me of Dr. J and was pure GRACE.
^^^ Nope. Blake has a shit ton of badass dunks yes, but the one on mogov wasn't that amazing. he threw the ball through the rim b/c he jumped to far away from the rim and his t-rex arms were too short to reach so he had to throw it through. Similar to Dwight's contest dunk a few years back.
Okay so you don't think what you just describe one probably the hardest play to do all year? Like you just he jumped too far from the rim and he doesn't have a 7 foot wingspan despite his height, but yet he still jump high enough and completely owned Mozgov on the jump and had enough tenacity to covert the play.
And yeah it was similar to a dunk contest dunk wasn't it?
Blake Griffin jumped and his shmeckle was in 7 ft 1 in mozgov's face, think about that. Which means he was that far above the rim and why grab the rim when you just absolutley defined a players career in one second. It was a dunk regardless, he didnt finger roll it, he didnt lay it in off the glass. That counts. think about it, half man half amazing. DOY count on it!
Who wins dunk of the year?
Both dunks are serious but Smith's was ridiculous how he yammed on Gary Neal not to say DeRozan does not get consideration anymore.
