     Strengths:

Tokoto has that quintessential frame that all college coaches covet. He has very long arms, ultra-athleticism, and good amount of savvy as well. He has noticeably added strength and has taken already elite athletic ability to the next level. He dunks in traffic in the lane and tip dunks when not aggressively boxed out on the offensive glass. Tokoto is also a willing passer when he draws a second defender and his one dribble rythum pull up has improved slighly. Displayed touch and body control around the rim to finish some very athletic moves in traffic.

    Weaknesses:
Tokoto is physically weak and a college-level weight program will help him out immensely. He must continue to work to build his perimeter skill package in the areas off being able to beat his defender off the bounce and make his jumper a consistent weapon in which he is very capable. He shows flashes of having a tight handle, but he can be very careless with the ball in his hands-often leading to many turnovers. Although he had dominating moments in many games, there are times when he disappears during critical moments of the game.

    Bottom Line:
Tokoto is one of the elite scoring wings in the country. He has the ideal length and athleticism to be special at the next level. He’ll need to tighten up some areas of his game (jump shot and handle) and get considerably stronger, but he is a major talent with bright future. As he continues to work and improve there is no telling how high his ceiling could be.

I know he’s supposed to be an explosive athlete.  I was wondering why he’s only ranked in like the 60’s for the 2013 class.  Anyone know any inside information on this guy or scouting reports?

adding on the the report that y2g posted,

from watching a couple of games it looks like Tokoto really needs to work on his shooting, defence and game presence…..Im not expert through but also if I were to compair Tokoto to a former Tarheel I would pic Danny Green (call me crazy). Sure I think Tokoto could have more of an impact as a college player being he seems to attack the basket more often that I think Danny did rather settling for the 3pt shot

He was ranked top 10 only a couple years ago wasn’t he?

Other kids made ground up skill wise while he only really had his athleticim and didn’t improve much else in his game.

However, I can see him being an impact player as an upperclassman and imo will thrive in Carolina’s up tempo offense.

Kid has Vinsanity kind of hops.

well, you can improve shooting and defense, but can’t teach hops.  Excited to see him play this year.

I heard a lot of the reasoning for his fall in rankings was a lack of aggresivesness.  He had an AAU tourney where he only went for games of like 2-4 points which is unexcusable for someone with his freakish athleticism.  He played good defense on Shabazz when he guarded him in the Jordan Classic and scored the first 6 points of the game IIRC.  His potential is out of this world if you ask me.  He plays some PG as well.  6’6" with his quickness, handles, athleticism, and developing jumpshot is scary.  He just needs to put it all together.

ESPN learned 4 years ago from DeQuan Jones out of Miami that you can put someone in the top 20 of there recruiting class just based on athleticism. He’s a raw talent and he could end up having the highest ceiling of anyone but if he doesnt refine his skills he’ll likely ride the bench for UNC because right now he’s not ready to play ACC basketball.

dlipto11, have you seen him play a lot?  I haven’t seen much of him live.  But from the highlights he looks even more athletic than DeQuan Jones, which is scary to think.  Could you give us some more info on him?

kid’s a freak. i underplayed his skills a lot with that post as hes actually a very good all around basketball player but in terms of the guys who are in that top 10-20 he just doesnt match up. i would comepare him to demarr derozan at the same age. but anyone whos seen him play is both impressed but recognizes that there is much room for improvement especially in terms of his handle and range. obviously has the tools to be a lock down defender though.

     mrhancoc…

if Tokoto can have more than an impact than Green, then that is saying a lot.  On that championship team, Green was the MKG of UNC.  When they needed points, he got them, when they needed rebounds, he got them, when they needed steals he got them.  Only when they needed him too though…otherwise he deferred.  Green was a very well rounded player and he is coming around as an NBA player.

So if Tokoto is that good or better, UNC is in for a treat.

I never saw him besides clips and I don’t know how good he is, but if he doesn’t know how to use his abilitys then he shouldn’t be ranked higher. James White is great for dunk contest, but not for 5 on 5 basketball. I guess people who ranked him didn’t see much basketball talent in him
