Joshua Smith is back and he is huge
Doing good against Oregon so far, he has 9 points right before half.. He is quite dominant down low and shows good passing game. What do you guys think? Can Georgetown save him or is he a lost case?
he's been at Georgetown for a little while now and he doesn't look like he's lost a single pound. I doubt he cares enough to be saved.
He is playing fairly well. And is still attractive to NBA scouts. But he must shed more weight and he must make people believe he can keep the weight off. Josh Smith can really play the game and also has a pretty good head on his shoulders and doesn't seem like a bad kid. He has to lose more weight though.
You guys didn't see him last year if you don't think he's slimmed down a bit... He still has a ways to go but he has defiantly lost SOME weight. He was way 2 big last year
im a ucla fan and I saw all his games. Im watching the gtown game on and off right now, I don't see any slimming down. At least gtown is listing him at his closer to real weight of 350 unlike ucla which laughably had him listed as 300.
Man I just want to say that I never thought the day would come where a Josh Smith dunk wouldn't involve some sort of donut joke right after..."Throw it down big boned man" Bill Walton
It's weird how Smith is morbidly obese but his face is lean.
It's also weird how he's fat, but dominated tonight, it looked very easy for him every time he touched the ball he got a bucket or was making good passes, for him to get to the NBA will be up to him, as obviously his weight/conditioning won't be acceptable in the NBA, he's a big liability on defense, especially for teams that like to run, but he's def an NBA player.
what a shame
I don't think he'll get drafted. I look at a guy like Dexter Pittman, who completely committed to getting his body right, went from 400 lbs down to 300 lbs in 4 years in Texas, and was picked in the 2nd round.Work eithic matters to NBA teams and Smith just seems to get bigger every year. Even past cautionary tales of NBA weight gain like Tractor Trailer dropped to 288 before the draft. Mike Sweetney got in great shape and weighed in at to 262 with 14 % body fat.
Smith's only chance is if he sheds 40-50 lbs before the draft, because to be perfectly blunt. NBA teams don't draft guys with body % fat over 25. They just don't. Smith is easily over 30% body fat right now. If someone is intrigued they'll bring him to Summer League, but he's not good enough to pick IMO.
