TyroberParticipantI live in Georgia and have watched Smith for awhile. I was talking with a few people and couldn’t find anyone that wanted to keep Josh Smith for the max. I definitely want to get some value back before we lose him for nothing because he is going to the highest bidder. He has been linked to the Spurs, but unless they part with Leonard then I can’t see anything getting done. Also been linked to the Nets, but for Humps and Brooks? I would rather try and do a sign and trade in the off season than that package. Just saw a report that the Sixers turned done a Hawes and Turner for Smith deal. I would have loved that as a Hawks fan and that could potentially make the Sixers very dangerous. What deals do you think make sense for both teams out there?

Toronto16ParticipantI hope my Raps make a run at him in the off season.

ItsRainingNegsParticipantThe only deal that really makes sense is one that involves the Rockets.

KHAM83ParticipantHey, I’m in Atl as well and trying to become a fan. I too do not believe he’s worth the max, neither does most teams. The teams that values Smith a lot has been Phoenix (don’t know why) and the Lakers (bc of Howard). I think best deals will be to Phx for young players plus pics this/next year or 3 way deal of Smith to LA, Gasol somewhere else (although he’s hurt) plus players and/or picks coming to the Hawks. best case scenario, we aren’t getting any stars for Smith. I think we move him for young developing players and picks in next year’s deep draft.

TyroberParticipantI would love to get Gortat and a lottery pick for him.

phila9012ParticipantI like that trade for both teams if it happens. suns get a great player and the hawks get a center who fits with al horford and a lottery pick which helps them get a young piece.

ReekoParticipantNot gonna lie a starting line up of Lowry, Derozan, Gay, Josh Smith, and Val would give the rest of the NBA nightmares. But the sad reality is that the Raps already have way too much money invested in other players such as Gay, Derozan, Fields, and Amir Johnson. Not saying I wouldn’t love to have J. Smith I just don’t see us getting him.

Toronto16ParticipantRaps would need to trade Bargnani for an expiring deal

atlienkevParticipantif the Hawks traded for Bargs, they’d have to trade me from their fanbase.
i can not support abomination of a basketball player/contract.
sidnote: Josh has been playing like every game is an audition lately. i understand its time but i’ll still be sad to see him go.

chrsw003ParticipantIm a big hawks fan and im not sure what I want them to do. I want to keep him just bc Im holding out hope for Dwight. And than all the trades ive seen speculated just dont seem like they would be getting enough back for him…

r377ParticipantThis is a shame as for the past few years the Hawks have been in the playoffs. They are only 1 or 2 pieces away from making a real good run.
Now what for the Hawks ? They lost JJ and now look to lose Josh Smith…..

gopack10ParticipantAs a lifelong Hawks fan, I’m gonna disagree with you on that r377.
The Hawks aren’t one or two pieces away from making a real good run unless one of those pieces is a superstar.
The JJ trade was necessary going forward because his salary was going to limit us from keeping Smooth and Teague.
The problem isn’t that Atlanta fans don’t want him or want to get rid of him. The issue is that he sees himself as a max player and he’s just not. He can’t carry a team and he is limited offensively. If he would sign for Al Horford money ($12 million per) or even a little more than that then I would keep him. He’s just not worth more than $12-14 per season.
