Q1 Do you think he returns to Kansas or leaves for the NBA?

Q2 Do you think he’s a second rounder if he leaves?

I feel that he should return to Kansas. He played in 26/38 of Kansas’ games. He averaged 7.9 points, 2.2 assists, and 2.2 rebounds in 20 minutes a game. I’m sure if he got 10 more minutes a game he could be great (it doesn’t help he missed a lot of games.) With 10 more minutes per game he could average about 13-4-4. The only reason he should stay in my opinion is to improve his jumper and point guard skills. 2.2 assists with 2 turnovers a game isn’t going to make you a point guard at the next level.  37% field goal percentage isn’t going to make you a shooting guard at the next level. I think if he stays, he’ll have a great season next year and possibly be a lottery pick.

I think if he chose to come out he could be a 20-30 pick depending on workouts. His defense is there and I think a team like Chicago, OKC, or San Antonio could develop him over a few years into something special. His defense is there and he could be a deadly combination with Rose or Westbrook if he develops a consistent jumper or he could be the future replacement of Manu or Parker.

This is just my opinion. I’m sure many of you feel differently about Selby.

Avery Bradley was actually a good prospect and was rightfully chosen in the 1st round. Unfortunately he went to the wrong team and is stuck behind Rondo and Allen, so he hasn’t been able to showcase his talent.

As for Selby, if he leaves now, more than likely he’s a late 1st/early 2nd round. And I don’t think he’s better than Bradley, Bradley has better jumpshot, better defender.

Reports are that he is gonna talk to his family and then decide what he’s gonna do.

"Reports are that he is gonna talk to his family and then decide what he’s gonna do."

His backbone which is his mother, is a very very intelligent woman when it comes to basketball. I’m quite sure she will not advise him to come out unless he gets that Elliot Williams "guarantee". Another year can only help him as much as it will hurt him, because he has not proved himself on the collegiate level. He will be buried on a good team & we will forget all about him. It happens year in & year out with Lotto type talent who goes late 1st.

    Selby really disappointed this season.

I didn’t see him showcase any of his athleticism.

    Only took set-shots.

I think that if Selby went to a team that he had more freedom with like Tennessee (the school he originally committed to), he would’ve produced at a much better rate, but he was used at Kansas mainly as a set-shooter and wasn’t allowed to do his own thing like he was allowed to in HS, and Bill Self had a short leash. And the suspension and injury definitely didn’t help.

Yes I think he will declare for this draft, and if so then he will be a second rounder. But probably an early second rounder.

Selby’s lack of production didn’t have anything to do with him only getting 20 minutes a game.  He had tons of offensive freedom and played much more minutes at the beginning of the season, but after his injury he just wasn’t himself.  He’d miss his first shot and rather than let things come to him or use his athleticism to get to the basket or out on the break he’d just shoot himself out of games.  He miss shots and his body language would read frustration and he lost minutes because of it.

I think if Selby came out this year he’d be an early 2nd round pick.  He’s a very good athlete but after watching him and Elijah Johnson on the same team all year I can’t say that he’s an elite athlete.  He’s got a good shot, but it’s not consistant right now and he’s a combo guard right now.  Thats not to say he can’t play point because he has very good natural court vision, but he’s years away from being a point guard.  His potential will get him in the 2nd round, but if he came back next year I think he’d be a first rounder.

From what i read he’s still a possible first rounder because teams like his potential. Remember alot of teams pick based off of that and not production

As a prospect its about where you get drafted now, the nba draft is get to be more like NFL draft, best fitted position you may or you will succeed. if he enter and fall to the second round can he fit in Miami system if they drafted him? can he play point in the league?
