One more OUTRAGEOUS perfomance tonight 32p. (7/11 3pt,19/33 on SL) from Selby. Can he establish himself as an off-the bench 10-12 ppg. scorer this year?

He has to battle a really crowded backcourt but he’s proven he deserves the minutes

yeah, he was next in line for OJ’s job, he can shoot three very well, knocking down open shots after open shots, he could open the court like wat mayo did for gay and conley, but gasol and Randoplh is clogging up the lane,

He’s had the hot hand, and I do think his minutes will increase, but I don’t think he’ll get 10-12 ppg.

Like all rookie guards, he struggled with shot selection and efficiency.  We all knew he had a good shot coming into the league, but I don’t know if a 3 game stretch where he shot 73 % from 3 point range in Summer League is a true indicator of him producing at a high clip at the next level.

In 3 games he went 5-7, 7-8, and 7-11 from down town, which is AWESOME, but I really don’t think a guy getting hot in 3 SL games is worth the lofty expectations that are being thrown around.  This is a guy who shot 14% from 3 as a rookie.

I think Josh Selby will have a better year than his rookie season, but I don’t think he’s Memphis next starter at the point ( 1.3 apg in Summer League ) or a guy who will beat out Bayless this season.  This is also the guy dropping 40+ in last summer against slightly lesser competition and many of his loyal fans were putting him on the All-Rookie 1st team or predicting ROY awards for him.  We all know the guy can get hot against non NBA competition, but can he do it against NBA veteran?  I still say, not on a regular basis.
