I wanna see this Otto Porter kid that just committed to Georgetown. Wanna see if he displays that combo forward type skill set that would fit nicely in there system..

Let’s not forget about that freak of nature Michael Gilchrist, and yes even Austin Rivers. If I’m lucky Marquis Teague too!

The reason why I kind’ve like the Jordan Classic better than the Mickey D’s game is because they do a good job of putting the under the radar guys on the rosters, but they did a poor job this year by snubbing Dorian Finney-Smith, Nick Johnson, Duece Bello, LaQuinton Ross.

I haven’t been very impressed with the davis kid(as far as the hype and guard skills) in the 6 games i have seen him play. i mean he can play but i have seen no guard skills that people have talked about. he’s not a very good shooter and has no guard range or handles. He does play hard and scores, rebounds, blks on the H.S level that you expect from a guy his size but usually ddont get because they are usually to lazy

They said he was not rated in the top 100-150 until he grew those 8 inches. So that’s to tell you a lot about his guard skills.

I know Pitino has got to be killing himself he did not pick him up. I wonder how the backcourt in Washington will workout with Gaddy & Wroten. Who plays off ball?

” he has the skill level of a guard” espn reporter- no he does not. They are setting this davis kid up to fail when he doesn’t turn out to be Magic Johnson. Has anyone else seen this kid score in any other way than fast break, offensive rebounds, one dribble layup?..Dont get me wrong its nice that he can do that but can anyone honestly say he has shown alot in the way of skill. I liken him to John henson, long good rebounder, shot blocker, runs the floor. Not much in the way of post moves, jumper or handles. Good athlete, smart player (because he gets it and outlets instead of handliong the ball and doesn’t take many jumpers, knows his role

Rivers is another guy who gave us work. Handles, j work, mid range, and is a very good defender if you get him mad

Wroten is the best passer in this class hands down. He makes passes Kabongo doesn’t.

He’s the best and worst passer. Worst because he will get turnovers because he will try for the flashy pass that may get taken away over the basic pass thats sure to get there. Best because he has very very good court vision

Love how Davis plays within his self. attacks glass and shots only when he’s close to the basket

lol…Rivers yanked someone out of there shoes. Has anyone noticed that he already acts like a NBA player, Always thinks he’s fouled, talks to the Ref, and just now sits on the floor looking at the ref like he was supposed to call it. Kinda like he feels entitled

    Good point on Rivers

They just asked a questioned about Davis ball handling now, but neither announcer would give a valid answer.

This is what happens( happens in fottball alot as well) they hear that the kid used to be a guard and then they watch him play and he doesn’t handle the ball much but he may go coast to coast one time and they start writing that the kid has guard skills so people who have never seen him start believing it and other basketball sites start writing the same thing. Anyone who has watched him play knows that he doesn’t have Guard skills, not even SF skills.

He is a very good player though who works hard and runs the floor, doing that goes a very long way when you are athletic

I completel agree with cward23 with his take on Davis. I’ve only see him play in two all-star games, but out of what I’ve seen, I don’t think he’s the #1 prospect. I definitely haven’t seen his the supposed "guard-like" skills that many people have said he has. He was a guard before his growth spurt, but he must have not been a very good ball-handler when he was shorter. But he’s a smart player because instead of trying to go coast-to-coast after every rebound and trying to showcase guard-like skills (like Perry Jones), instead, he throws an outlet. But I have yet to see him create a shot for himself. He isn’t a great shooter either. But he’s tall, long, good shot-blocker, and runs the floor well, which makes him effective in transition and allows him to finsih scrap plays around the rim.

I don’t think any of us knows too much about Anthony Davis unless you’re scouting the majority his games. The guy came out of nowhere literally. I wouldn’t scout this game too seriously… Not that hs matters much, he was a 30-20 guy his senior year, and Calipari has his ways of putting out great NBA prospects regardless of how bad you might think his coaching is. He’ll get this guy to play beyond his expectations just like he did with others (ex. Cousins)..

It is obvious that you all have only seen his play in these all star games and not anywhere else.  He has a lot of guard skills.  On many occasions he would bring the ball up the court for his team.

Anthony Davis ran PG virtually every possession for his team.  Here’s a video of him bringing the ball up the court virtually every time he’s on offense:

I’ve watched him play more than just the all star games. Maybe not as much as ya’ll have but i have watched him 6 different times

Any time a big man has guard like skills they show them ever game correct?..Lamar odom showed them, magic, lebron and every other big who has guard like handles. I think some people are getting confused with him handling the ball in his H.S league which has a bunch of players who would struggle to make the J.V team on top H.S teams.

When has he shown that he can handle and shoot?..not one jumper or bringing the ball up once , but getting it constantly and looking to push?..Can anyone say T-mac,Magic,Lamar,Lebron has ever got it and every time look to out let and run the floor?.. That’s what big men do and that’s what Davis is and has shown to be, nothing wrong with that because he knows his strengths and his weakness. He doesn’t even attempt to handle the ball in the half court either. Now how many people have seen a big with guard like skills who always plays like he’s a big man?

Didn’t Perry jones have clips where he brought the ball up and looked like a guard?..I remember first seeing those and thinking ( Damn this kid is t-Mac) . Then you see him against good comp or college comp and realize he was doing that against d-3 open gym guys or slow bigs. I haven’t even seen Davis handle it or have the guard mind set that Perry has and Perry isnt even a guard
