Currently ranked fourth on this site, why is Jonathan Isaac ranked so high ?

I have watched him twice and granted he didn’t get a lot of the ball, but he didn’t really do anything special to make me think he should go at no4 in this strong draft.

I would personally take Tatum over Jonathan Isaac…..

Can shoot from anywhere, highly efficient, rebounds, defends, pretty good handles, doesn’t need the ball to score, super high upside???

and can play and defend the perimeter.  He’s a 3 and D guy as his basement.  Florida State is a wierd team, loaded with freaky size and talented guards, so Isaac hasn’t needed to stand out, but its coaching and gameplan that prevents him from having a more prominent role like say a Brandon Ingram last year on Duke.

I think his frame is weaker than Ingram’s.  But Ingram is a strong defender and I think he should be able to use his length to stick with other 2 guards.

He is a great player to play with a PG that knows when to get him touches.

Tatum shows flashes of being a really good scorer.  I question Tatum’s athleticism and being able to consistently make shots, and he’s more or less an isolation player.  He’s playing better within Duke’s system, but the guy just wants the ball and wants to score.  He reminds me too much of a Melo type baller, I’m not down with that.

I agree, Tatum is a sure thing wing, skilled, good size, mature and competitive, even when his outside shot doesn’t fall he stay very effective and win games for duke… remind me Steave Smith a lot as a player…

I think Issac’s size is the key here. He is 6’10" (I have seen him listed at 6’11" in some places) so I think teams figure he can put on some lbs and grow into an ideal modern 4 man with the skills of a wing.

Tatum is a very solid pick.  I said this a while ago as well. I think he still has a chance to go 1st overall.

Tatum had 24 today against NC while Justin “Jeff Taylor” Jackson (who I think is overrated) went 6-22 from the field…

Isaac’s upside is very intriguing. He could be close to 7-0 when all is said and done. He could legitimately guard 4 positions if he adds strength. His outside shot shows promise, though it is still inconsistent. He reminds me a lot of Ingram, although Ingrams offensive game is more advanced while Isaac is the slightly more explosive athlete.

However, I do agree that he is a riskier pick than Tatum, who is definitely the more polished and better player right now. I have few doubts that Tatum will be a really good NBA player for a long time.

Tatum has that elite mid range iso SF Carmelo type game (88% from FT as well) that isn’t always conducive to team ball. I see him as a top ten talent that can sneak into the top 5 if a team that needs a SF scorer like Orlando or Sac Town picks there. I also see him as a player that will likely end up putting up and empty statline of 17-20 a game while losing epecially if he ends up in Orlando or Sacramento.

Tatum absolutely projects an elite offensive wing player like Paul George, Harrison Barnes, Gordon Haywood. He will gget workouts for the number 1pick. Theres no doubt about it he has counter moves for anything a defence can throw at and him aside from Fultz nobody has a more complete offensive game. Markannen and Monk are right there with him but Tatum is ahead of Monk to me at this point because he has proved he can play SG and is half a foot taller and longer than Monk. To me theres scenerios where Fultz, Ball, Isaac, Markannen and Tatum could go 1st overall.

What is not to like about Isaac???

Isaac is what Brandon Ingram was supposed to be….. a super long 3 & D wing but Issac is actually an inch or two taller than Ingram at 6’10"

And Isaac has the elite athleticism & explosiveness that Ingram lacks

The college game is much slower & more congested than the Pro game. You have to project these guys thinking about the wide open crazy fast pro game

And Tatum, Isaac, Jackson are all Prizes at the next level
