Looking at the success of these small, ultraquick waterbug type points guards, I think that Flynn might be a little bit underatted. I’d consider him a more 6-8 type rather than the 14-15 guy he is considered now. The way the game is called now, it allows smaller players to be extremely effective. At times Rondo and Brooks have been dominate in the playoffs against some of the stiffest competition in the league. Rondo went 21st and brooks 26th, and I’m wondering how long GMs will underate these small players. Even Nate Robinson went much lower that he should of in the draft (23). While Nate’s game has some problems, his instant offense off the bench could be lethal for some playoff teams. Its becoming more and more apparent that the size of pg matters almost nothing, and this is Flynn’s number one knock by scouts. Flynn seems alot like the aaron brooks who torched the lakers ( brooks with a little better J, Flynn better at driving, but the size, speed, ballhandingly ability, above-average passing but not great, and inconsitency is identical). I haven’t seen Jennings, but I’ve heard his game is in this mold also. I’d much rather have flynn than clark, henderson, ellington, or budinger.

if jennings is picked by the wolves (based on current draft position), i think the highest flynn could go would be the warriors. i think the warriors need a pg real bad but i’m not sure if flynn would be the answer (maybe they’d try to trade for a vet?), but if they do go in that direction, i think flynn would be the best fit (if jrue doesn’t climb up the board).

I think Jonny Flynn has a sick name but that’s it. He makes bad decisions, not a consistant shooter, wont be able to finish in NBA. I’ll be upset if the Warriors reach on him.

I’m pretty surprised anyone thinks Flynn is a good match for the Warriors. The Warriors most promising player is an undersized SG. You really think an undersized PG will match well with him? I don’t.

How is not Flynn not better than Maynor, Curry, Lawson? I think he has the intangibles to become an above average point guard. All the other point guards are just likely to be busts plus Flynn played in the Big East. I feel that everyone is forgetting his performances from the past season and he did this in which was arguably the toughest conference in the country. Personally I think he would be a great fit for the Knicks @ 8. Btw Rondo Brooks and CP3 are proving that smallish PG’s can succeed as long as they are dedicated. I think we all know Flynn is dedicated after that thriller against UConn in the Big East Tourney.

I think flynn is a 10 to 15 guy. He is undersized. He also plays too fast at times. I dont see alot of upside in him either. I watch flynn at the dome for 2 years and he wil be a all right pro

Why do people keep putting Flynn ahead of Lawson? Sure, he could be better, but right now Lawson is a better player in every way- he has a better shot, more range, better speed, better passing, and gets more steals. Not to mention he just led his team to the NCAA championship.

im not sure that lawson is faster than flynn, infact i think flynn is quicker. Flynn just blows by guys. Lawson was often mentioned as the quickest player in college, but a lot of that was UNC hype. (even though lawson is extremely quick) flynn is younger and has more upside than lawson. Flynn is a better scorer. i can never imagine lawson taking over an nba game with his scoring, while i can see flynn doing this on occasion (while occasionally blowing them).

lawson is a better shooter and better passer, but it isn’t like lawson is a great passer or shooter for an nba player. these are flynn’s weak areas but they are the most improvable parts of someones game.

i like lawson though also and i think he is equal to flynn. more than maynor or clark or budinger or henderson etc.

I think Lawson is definitely the more mature player right now, and he was certainly one of the fastest players in college last year. Biggest thing Lawson has going for him right now is his ast/to ratio- it is incredible even considering that he played in UNC’s system last year. Late in the year he really showed the ability to take over games on offense, but I don’t know how that will translate to the NBA (nobody does, really).

I think Flynn is the more natural playmaker, but Lawson is much better at running an offense and limiting turnovers. Flynn’s got more potential, but it is tough to compare the 2 considering the different roles they played last year. Ultimately, it probably comes down to personal preference in which pg you would take.

Considering how complete a player he is already, does anyone think Lawson could be a darkhorse ROY candidate? Assuming he ends up in a good situation.

i personally think flynn could be a gem in this draft regardless of where he is drafted. while he has flaws like playing out of control, shooting is not great, and he is undersized, those are all things that he can overcome or get better at. but what i like about him is his fiery competitive nature. for those who saw the 6ot game vs uconn saw a star in flynn. he just is a natural leader that i would love to have on my team.

Flynn could easily have the quickest first step in this class (very important-ask A Brooks). Lawson is an average shooter at best and on top of that he is a spot up shooter. I haven’t seen to many 6’0 and under spot shooters in the NBA. Many of these guards in this class have potential to be very effective, but only time will tell.

 Lol it’s not big deal man. I am nowhere near perfect, and I was a Jonny Flynn fan back when he was at Syracuse. I wouldn’t be as uninformed nowadays though, I understand basketball better as opposed to 2 or 3 years back.

Yea man, I remember that 4 OT game v. UCONN and thats when I was like Jonny Flynn is a dude.  I didn’t think he was gonna be better than guys like Steph Curry but I thought he would atleast be a quality starter in this league.  He just took over that game v. the Huskies.  Clutch as hell and proved he had leadership.

Lmao, this was a pretty funny one. I actually remember that game as well, was sick, I was sitting at an asian restraunt eating and having some beer and getting super pumped. I never thought Flynn was going to amount to much, but I too thought he was going to end up a quality starter at the 1 capable of putting up points similar to Brooks based on his crazy athleticism alone. 

As for Tywon, i wasn’t sure about him with his size, but he definitely has pushed me into being a complete fan. I remember Roy Williams saying he was the best floor general he had ever coached and then George Karl/Denver FO saying they felt he had 20-10 potential. I laughed when I heard that at the time. Still don’t think 20-10, but 15-10 on 40% 3pt i definitely achievable. Oh how I wish LAL had drafted him or traded for his rights.
