John Wall was benched for playing out of control

http://www.bulletsforever.com/2011/12/28/2667305/wizards-fall-to-hawks-as-hero-ball-rears-its-ugly-head

"John Wall played out of control for most of the evening and was visibly frustrated with the refs for not calling contact on his numerous drives to the basket. More worrying, Wall appeared to be benched for for the latter part of the first quarter and for the early part of the second for taking six straight shots without passing the ball. We are only two games into the season, but Wall is demonstrating a worrying propensity to abandon his teammates and attempt to do it all himself."

Dude's team is a joke.

Dude's team is a joke. Leonsis and Co. better start making moves, he isn't dealing with this group of losers much longer.

He’s never really been a scorer, he’s at his best when he’s facilitating for his teammates (look at UK where his job was basically to get DMC points) and now he’s trying to “live up to the hype” and carry this wizards team by playing hero ball.

HE was passing it early on

HE was passing it early on hoping for someone to make a shot, but they were down 16 or something early on. Then he took upon himself to make take the shots, and he was making them as well with 10 points in the first qurater. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

he cant run the offense yeah

he cant run the offense

yeah personal 1×1 stuff is fine. but he is the point guard and everyone is disconnected from the game when he does it too much…and with these guys, they need every ounce of concentration they can muster or they drift off into outer space

and it is killing their defense. they gave atl too many possessions…and can not give up 30 point quarters

Do they even have an

Do they even have an offensive system. I mostly see passes to the low post or a player like young coming off of a screen.

He just doesn’t have the

He just doesn’t have the skills right now to be a good half court player. You could put him on the Heat, and he’d be just as bad running offensive sets. He can’t create his own shot in isolation, and he cant create for himself or others in the pick and roll. He over-penetrates when he does drive, which leads to turnovers, or contested layups. Until he develops that part of his game, he’s going to be a non-factor in the half court.

What?!? he can create his own

What?!? he can create his own shot and he did several times last few games. His big problem is that he can't finish in traffic.

I can't belive i am saying this but he needs to shoot more jumpers. He made something like 3 or 4 jumpers and missed only 1 that i can remeber this game.

You obviously didn't watch

You obviously didn't watch the game. At some points of the game, Wall was FORCED to try to take over the game by scoring because nobody else good shoot or score. He tried finding spot-up shooters on the drive, but no one could make their shots.

He obviously did play a bit out of control at some points, and tried to do too much, but can you blame him? He's never going to develop properly if the Wizards don't get rid of some of these bums (cough cough Blatche cough).

I had to sound like I am

I had to sound like I am continuously defending him, but truth is, the team sucks and Wall is not a good enough player to make them better right now. I mean they are really bad because of so many young guys that dont truly know how to play. They dont have a niche either because they are poor defensively overall. One of the biggest things is, Rashard Lewis...and I used to love this guy...but he just aint got it anymore. He is supposed to be their veteran leader.

You actually expect Wall to

You actually expect Wall to pass and initiate an offense with people that are going to brick shots left & right? I don't think so. If he didn't try to score as much as he did, the Wiz would've lost by 30. And I actually think he did a solid job finding his teammates, they just couldn't make shots.

for the simple fact that

for the simple fact that Blatche does not play winning basketball, he needs to go...but truthfully, besides another bad team, who wants him? His attitude is bad enough when he starts, think if he has to come off someone's bench.

I was at the Hawks game.

I was at the Hawks game. When Wizards got down early, he was really forcing it. I mean, don't get me wrong, he was getting to the basket at will, but he wasn't finishing.

I think Flip Saunders has to

I think Flip Saunders has to go, Blatche has to go. They need to find a way to get rid of Lewis, and start rebuilding properly, and turn into a run and gun team where John Wall will flourish until he can get some type of half court game into him.

i believe if you plays your pieces right you can turn any franchise around. (SPECIALLY WITH JOHN WALL), they need to trade everyone but wall, mcgee, young. specially r. lewis and his contract. jan vasely will unfortunately be a dissapointment.

Exactly if you REALLY WATCHED

Exactly if you REALLY WATCHED the game you would see that Wall had to take over, and the only time he could facilitate was when Nick Young started to get going.

Blatche played like ish the whole game

Jordan Crawford was OFF

McGhee cant create for himself

Who else was gonna keep the Wizards in the game or at least somewhat in the game?

I dont fault Wall at all for tonights game, he had no choice.

Washington are still very

Washington are still very much in rebuild but more worrying is the notion that Coach Saunders seems to be losing his team on occasions, last year Blatche fell out with him on occasions. Now we have John Wall trying to be AI circa 2001.

Washington cleared Agent Zero off the books in favour of Rashard Lewis who could be given the amnesty next summer and GM Grunfeld has started to rebuild from the draft. Coach Saunders has had two heavy losing seasons so the pressure must be on him now and the team seems to need a strong discipliarian coach or at least a solid locker room leader.

Maybe they just need to play this season out, get another high draft pick clear Lewis's deal for cap space and go from there. Or if Blatche is the main problem maybe even amnesty him and hope to trade Rashard Lewis on next season as an expiring deal.

Once Again...

Blatche is cancerous.

Lewis is dead weight with an albatross of a contract (who did the Wizards amnesty? why didnt they amnesty his azz?)

Singleton is getting some good minutes, but I think you need to go ahead and start making him the guy at 3.

Booker needs more run too.

Never been a fan of Turiaf.

there problem is they have to

there problem is they have to many chuckers and guys that play iso.

Blatche, Crawford, Wall, McGee, they all try to play 1v1. This team is to focused on offense and doesn't have enough defenders or team players. A guy like Kidd-Gilchrist would be perfect for this team and would help change the culture.

Man walks into a bar and

Man walks into a bar and pauses: at the other end of the bar, there's this guy with a big orange head. Just kind of sitting there, mooning into his drink. So the man asks the bartender, "Say, what's up with the guy with the big orange head?" And the bartender says, "It's an interesting story. Buy him a drink and maybe he'll tell it to you."

So the man walks over and introduces himself and offers to buy a round. The guy with the big orange head says, "Yeah, I'll bet you want to know the story, huh?" To which the man replies, "Sure, if you don't mind."

The man with the big orange head sighs and says, "You know, I've gone over it in my mind a million times. Basically, it's like this: I was walking along the beach one day, when I stubbed my toe on something. I looked down, and there was an antique brass lamp. I picked it up and dusted it off a little -- when all of a sudden this enormous genie pops out!

"The genie thundered, 'You have released me from my ten-thousand year imprisonment, and I am in your debt. I will grant you three wishes as a token of my gratitude.'

The man at the bar is agape. The guy with the big orange head continues: "So I said, 'Wow, okay. Well, my first wish is to be fantastically wealthy.'

"The genie says, 'Your wish is granted.' And all of a sudden I have rings on my fingers and a crown on my head, and my wallet is full of money and a dozen ATM cards and the deed to a mansion in the hills -- I mean, I was loaded!

"So I said, 'Amazing! Okay, for my next wish , I want to be married to the most beautiful woman in the world.'

"The genie says, 'Your wish is granted.' And the ocean parts, and out walks this gorgeous woman in this beautiful dress, and she takes my hand and we fall in love and the genie marries us right there. It was incredible.

"The genie booms, 'You have one wish remaining.'"

The man with the big orange head pauses and sips his beer. He says, "Now, you know, this may be where I went wrong. I wished for a big orange head.

Low IQ

I said this the other day, his IQ is just too low. He's wasting his ability. Bigs that try to get better visit Hakeem over the summer, he needs to visit Isiah Thomas or Gary Payton if they would have him (doubtful).

let me say, honestly, and

let me say, honestly, and this I am not being sarcastic. if the Wiz got rid of Arenas to take on Lewis' contract, it was a mistake. I'd rather have Arenas.

The Wizards took on Lewis's

The Wizards took on Lewis's contract merely to save money I guess as Arenas had the longer contract and after trading Butler and Jamieson they were in full rebuild. Lewis's contract will be in the final year next year so it ould have trade value or they just amnesty him.
