dolla130Participantthe most interesting thing i want to see from wall is how is he gonna deal with the hype once he gets to the nba..its simple to deal with in highschool and college because the competition is mediocre at best but will he flame out against better talents and guys who are just as athletic? will he be a bigger sebastion telfair or will he be what everyone expects him to be? Because people fail to realize we have seen this before hyped players who never really live up to the hype, and wall’s hype trumpts them all, and if does flame out its gonna be sad because this kid is really good and people are already saying he is one of the top pgs in the league and its crazy, let the kid play a nba game first
1.telfair
2.gerald green
3.beasley

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantIt’s weird because I have been saying let Wall play a game first and he has impressed me. He could still improve his jumper, the WVU game showed me he will be a slightly below average defender as a rookie and will need to learn to slow down the tempo when playing.
Wall will be very good. He could be one of the best PG in the NBA. I’m not ready to call him a future superstar yet but I think he could be a monster at the next level.

StF616ParticipantThe thing about every (number one or highly)drafted prospect is they are expected too much from
people imagine them to be one of the best, a future superstar,
Sometimes these just dont happen ; Kwame Brown,Darko milicic,Olowakandi,
and alot more
But certainly they have the potential, i believe that john wall, as long as he works hard, does his best
Could be great, or good.
But he hasnt played a game yet.
And when he does, thats when we will know0 - Posted on: Tue, 05/11/2010 - 12:44pm #311378

Charlie SheenParticipantThats the media it isnt like Telfair and Green and Brown who failed to go to college and somewhat hone their skills and actually see what they are capable of. Derrick Rose, Brandon Jennings had the same type of hype of Wall and see him right up there with them wit potential in mind. As long as he isnt asked to do too much and you build a team he can be successful with around him then he’d be okay being around vets and guys that play hard. His best situation would be Detroit why they have vets, they have talent just lack a few pieces, PG and a Big two areas they could build on in the draft. Rip Tay BG and Vill are all good players and he’d be under management who I’m sure will build a team around him.

sheltwon3ParticipantWhat is up with people knocking Wall. I remember people knocking Rose but not as much. What has Wall done to deserve this hate. He has shown in college he can be good and play on a high level and his skill set is actually built more for the NBA than college. Telfair is a solid bk up and his problem is he it too small and weaker than a lot of point guard that are coming out and are bigger and stronger. He should have gone to college because i think in another year he could be a solid starter but because of his past and seemly slow development he will not get that chance. Gerald Green was said to have low basketball IQ. Mayo is pretty good but he plays on a deep young team in the West. Wagner has had injuries and i think he could have been a Ben Gordon type if he was healthy.

dolla130ParticipantRose and Jennings never got hyped like this, rose started getting hype when Memphis started winning and still beasley gordon and mayo had more hype,he started getting the mojor hype when he dominated in the ncaa tourney and jennings didnt get that much hype comming out of highschool, he was the best player but once he went overseas that hype died down, John wall is getting LEBRON JAMES type hype and if the nba rule was not in place wall would have left out of HS because of hype

Charlie SheenParticipantOkay so would’ve OJ BJ KD GO DR EG MB TE they would’ve left earlier and who know’s how that would’ve effected them. Jennings has been regarded one of the top players in the nation but going over seas has de hypened his situation Rose got hype his senior year when he got a nationally televised game against Oak Hill and Brandon Jennings so they did get the hype its just they were in classes where the was a lot of major talent the class of ’07 was ridiculous and BJ has celebrity written all over him everybody wanted to know what he was gonna do and Rose has showed the hype was for real Jennings is the next AI IMO watch and see but maybe more assist than points. Wall will do his thing and soon players will be compared to him……..watch and see

DNYCEI posted a thread saying the Lakers could trade Gasol for John Wall if the Warriors land the 1st pick and people thought it was crazy, because they think he is the 2nd coming of Magic Johnson. John Wall could seriously end up being a bust compared to the hype people are trying to give him. I think he will be a taller more athletic Kyle Lowry.

Tobe BryantParticipantI’m a basketball junkie. Even though I’m only 21, I have seen a whole host of potential NBA superstars based on their unique athletic ability and flashes of greatness. John Wall was no doubt arguably the #1 player in the nation. But everybody seems to automatically wanna hype him up to be the best PG immediately in the NBA. I don’t doubt his star power or greatness, but PLEASE let him play a summer league game let alone an NBA GAME! I honestly see alot of things in his game as far as athleticism that reminds me of a Steve Francis (do not think about the older, injury prone Franchise!). The reason I don’t agree to the Derrick Rose comparision is because of the power that he possesses unlike Wall. As for the Wade comparision, you can’t just look at the slashing ability and quickness in order to hold him up to Wade, there has to be more parallels in other aspects of his game. To be totally honest, Wall is not the shooter that he is also said to be. As I read from a previous post, Wall is a flat foot jump shooter with suspect streakiness and mechanics. Obviously though, if I possess quickness and that kind of athletic ability then shooting wouldn’t be my strong suit either. With all this said, congrats to Wall and I WISH him the best in his NBA journey! I feel like Wall will be what Steve FRANCIS (smaller, more wiry) should have been if Francis would have grasped the complete PG ability and patience within the game.

ZeroParticipantWHY THE HELL IS OJ MAYO THERE !? OJ Mayo actually played really good considering he had Rudy Gay, a player who really needs the ball a lot and this season he also had Zach Randolph a player who also needs the ball. He played a solid rookie season averaging 18.5 points a game (And I think that was the highest for that rookie class), and a just as solid sophomore season.

germukParticipantPlease. John Wall is not Sebastian Telfair. He actually has proven he has game at a high level. I don’t think he’ll be a top 10 PG his first year or two, but he eventually will be right up there with Rose, Rondo, Jennings, and Westbrook as thetop PGs of the future.
