Interesting video I just saw on espn. Everybody has right to their own opinion. Thought it was interesting to hear how Salley said they defended Jordan during the "Bad Boy" Piston days and the number of players he thought were better than Jordan.

F_She must not like people dunking on him and clapping their hands in his face afterwards

bloodshyParticipantMcHale above MJ on the GOAT list? Yawn… this clown’s just bitter. Salley isn’t voicing an opinion–it’s a push for publicity from a guy that fell out of the lime light a long time ago. He, like everyone else, knows MJ was the greatest regardless of the nonsense that spews from his lips.

NJHooper95ParticipantOscar doesnt think Mike is the greatest, Kareem doesnt think Michael is the greatest. Its own teammate Scottie doesnt think Michael is the greatest. In reality there is no real way to prove it. Saying someone is the greatest is opinion and opinion will change each ever. If you ask a high school player today who is the best ever they will say Lebron. If you ask a high school player 6 years ago who was the best it will be Kobe. If you ask a gy 35 years ago who is the best ever and he will probably say Dr. J or Oscar Robertson. Some people think Magic is the greatest and if you said that you would have a great arguement.

JonnyquestParticipantThis is a prime example of someone trying to sound intelligent, and insightful but are an idiot in reality. From what he said, you can derive that because they could not guard Jordan, they resulted to hacking. The same Jordan who evolved and made their bush league tactics non effective. The Jordan he had to watch from the bench when Chicago used him to fill a roster spot. I would bet Jordan told them to sign him just so he could remind him of how he ended their reign.

For_Never_EverParticipantHe named six guys he thinks is better than Jordan. I would understand if he named a couple people. However six guys, that all played during MJ’s time ??? This sounds ridiculous to me now.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantNothing to do with his comments or anything, just a general assessment. He was super soft and a fake character of a Bad Boy. He has always been a media hound and a diva. He always wanted to be in Hollywood. He did this for attention mostly. I feel him as a competitor and really hating a guy, I get that but not from him because he was never a real competitor. He tried to act and be in show business at every venture and always sucked.
I do know why I dont like him but why I hate him so much I can’t really explain, I just do .

NJHooper95ParticipantHad he named maybe two players he thought was better than mike, then I would have defended him, but you will be hard pressed to find 5 or 6 guys better than Mike at anytime. He went overboard.

FastAndFuriousParticipantIDK is it just me or does anyone else feel that all the old school players hate on Jordan?
Majority of them say Mike ISN’T the best of all time, IDK why they fell that way.
You have your few like Magic who will admit Jordan is the best but most of them don’t feel the same way.

HOops1562ParticipantI think the older guys feel disrespected when everyone just assume MJ is the greatest … like Oscar no one ever mentions him as the greatest because he never won enough rings but the man averaged a triple double a season ! … and stats wise was the better all around player … assists and rebounds included not just scoring … i think the greatest of all time is debateable not just open and shut like some people think it is … some people when asked who’s the greatest they don’t even think about all the great player to play in the history of basketball they just say MJ

NJHooper95ParticipantIts a competitive thing. The old school guys feel that in their prime, they could have hung with Mike. They also feel overlooked and undervalued and much of that has to do with the evolution of media. The media was there to capture all of Jordan moments, what if the media when have been there to record Wilts 100 point games, or watch the Goat do his double dunk, or even watch Oscar average a triple double for a season, then what?
I remember Oscar Robertson saying if he knew a triple double was such a big deal, he would have averaged a triple double every season. Funny thing about that is there were several other seasons where he was really close to averaging a triple double.

IndianaBasketballParticipantJohn Salley is hating. Your team made a defense just to stop Jordan and you still couldn’t!!! You will have even more respect for Jordan after watching this video:

NJHooper95ParticipantYou are right, when i listen to him talk and then I think about how detroit had to play in order to stop him, he is hating.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThat was actually the wrong video I posted… Here’s one of the way the Pistons had to defend MJ.

220ParticipantJohn Salley is hilarious. Salley has one of his rings thanks to Michael Jordan. The funny thing is if you asked Kevin McHale if he was better than Jordan he’d likely say no.
