Joe Wolf's Mock 1.0

As we're just a few days away from the early entry deadline, and the feild is beginning to solidify, I wanted to submit a mock for comments. My lotto is still a projected "big board" of how I see the top prospects being drafted without any team specific info, and will continue to act as so until the team order is final, but I started to put a little thought into the 15-60 picks.

Let me know what you think.

Nice mock

Nice mock, just a question. Where would you plug Jean-Charles? He threw his name in for this year's draft, I feel like after his strong performance at the Nike Hoop Summit he's a mid-second rounder or even a possible early second.

The rest is good IMO. It's hard to believe that Adetokoubo could be picked ahead of the likes of Muhammad and Zeller that's something I would've never considered possible last summer.

Oh, I didn't realize he had

Oh, I didn't realize he had put his name in. As of now I think the late 1st is up for grabs, I feel a lot of guys are in that 25-40 range, including Jean-Charles. I think workouts will help solidify that range, but as of now I'd say early 2nd.

The crazy thing is too is that I feel Giannis could continue to rise even beyond where I have him now. Like some have mentioned, he's hasn't had time to disappoint anyone and his combine is going to be very very good.

I'm beginning to agree. I

I'm beginning to agree. I don't think I can put him any higher than 11. I think the unknown is working in his favor. I have watched all his youtube videos and I believe he isn't as athletically gifted as some are making him out to be.

The Cavs could end up winning

The Cavs could end up winning this draft if they do pick Otto Porter, Archie Goodwin, and DeShaun Thomas.

ON PAPER, their future core would be set (perhaps) with Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, TT, Otto Porter, and Archie Goodwin. Wonder if Varejo stays or gets traded. Maybe he is a guy they look to move in this draft to come away with a young talent and a draft pick.

Burke to the Suns is an interesting pick. I think they will ultimately look for a scorer or big. Burke would be a good asset, but that would mean that confidence is low on Dragic and Marshall.

I would be

Shocked if Ricardo Ledo fell all the way to 59, regardless if he's been out the whole season.

Joe's draft is excellent as

Joe's draft is excellent as we'd guess it would be from a site legend, the only thing that I thought was strange was Atlanta taking two 7 foot guys and maybe Steve Adams is a reach but he could shoot up the boards with one good work out.

I like Plumlee to the Thunder, Oladipo to Detroit, Len to NOP and Porter to Cavs in particular.

Thanks man, yeah I looked at

Thanks man, yeah I looked at those Atlanta picks too, haha. My thoughts were that Gobert would be a stash and Olynyk was the BPA. I agree on Adams, I thought in Pitts NCAA game vs WSU that Adams by far was the best player on Pitt. Although his season numbers were not jaw dropping, he improved quite a bit over the year. I think he could jump Zeller when all is said and done.

SUNS

I like the draft except for the suns pick i dont think they would talk Burke , Because looking at the season Dragic played pretty well this season.

As for Burke and the Suns. I just feel there is no way he drops past 4 in this draft ( unless Giannis really takes off )Even if the Suns have that pick, I feel the next couple guys are on a lower teir and they can trade the pick.

.

You could be right,(also depending on smart decision), suns could select burke at 4 and trade up(eventually with orlando) or trade down(hornets-kings-jazz), ultimately, i don't see them selecting/keeping the likes of burke, porter, len nor bennett.
Like last year they will hope for a SG(missed waiters, ross, lamb or even the hideous rivers), burke at 4 traded down against a dipo-bazz.

Giannis, has skills

Joe, I like how high you have Giannis but I hope your wrong because I'd like the Jazz to get him, I love what I see in him and don't feel his is anything like Byombo, Giannis has the skills to play on the perimiter, if fact he would be a great point forward. Giannis does need help with his shot, the release point is low and he needs to work on getting it higher. He does need to gain weight but that should come as he matures. I'm not sure he has stopped growing either and he could end up 6'10 or taller. For a player his size his handles are great and he doesn't appear selfish, he looks for his teammate and seems to be a good passer. He is young and although he isn't a superior athlete he is pretty athletic and those traits should improve as he matures. I'd love to see the Jazz take him, he shows he can create for himself and his teammates and that is the kind of player the Jazz need..

Pretty good mock, with a

Pretty good mock, with a couple of caveats...I continue to think Len isn't any good, but pretty much everyone else has him in at least the mid lottery right now so I'm not gonna hate. But Jeff Withey? really? in an otherwise solid mock that really stands out as strange how high he is. all the dude can do is block a few shots as a weakside help defender. He doesn't have an NBA body, he's only an average athlete, doesn't have much of an offensive game. I see him just getting tossed around like a ragdoll in an NBA paint, both on the glass and defending on the block. what do people see in him that I don't?

Well, I do think the Chicago

Well, I do think the Chicago pick is Withey's earliest chance. Without a backup signed for next year, that is a team need and in Thibs system, I do think he'd maximize his rookie role for the Bulls. If he doesn't go there he'd most likely find a spot somewhere at the end of the first. Fab went 20 or 21 last year, Orton went 29 in 2010 and Withey is better than both. Guys like he and Dieng are going to be in that 20-30 range.

Here is the thing about Withey, yes, he'll get dunked on and in some match ups he'll get overpowered, but in others he'll kill it. He bothers people around the rim and he's done it against the best NCAA talents over the last two years. He has NBA size, great defensive instincts and although he may end up around 24 or 28, Chicago would be a good fit because of their system.

I agree that the bulls need a C, but you really think they will take Withey if olynk is available? Granted, Olynk is less of a rim protector, but he has good positioning and his ability to pass and score in the post are far superior, and he can bang on the glass and has a better NBA body.

I know I'm sounding like a

I know I'm sounding like a homer at this point, but according to reports, all 30 NBA teams informed grant jarrett he was a first rounder. That might not become reality, but no way he goes undrafted completely. I think he is a steal if he goes outside of the top 25.

No you're cool, I had

No you're cool, I had actually forgot about him. He just declared last week, and I forgot to add him to my pool. My most recent memories of him were the NCAA tourney, which he didn't really impress me, but there is a much better chance he'll get picked than some of the guys I have at the end of the 2nd. I'm not as high on him as you, but you're right, I highy doubt he goes undrafted too.

suns have goran and drafted

suns have goran and drafted marshall last year.no way they take burke.they need alot of help at every position but p.g lol.4 is definitely too high for a barely 6' p.g.i see them taking bennet.they need a strong athletic pf more than anything.they will likely be in the top 3 again next year so they can get a guy like wiggins,or parker on the wing.only 2 lotto teams that could really use burke would be dallas,or utah

i think 5 is a huge reach for len also.lopez actually played well this season.depending on how bazz and giannis look in workouts,i think 1 of them will be the pick at 5 for n.o

i think utah takes caldwell-pope with their 1st lotto pick or oladipo if he slips, then takes kybongo later in the draft
i think boston grabs olynyk,withey,or caldwell-pope
but every year somebody is gonna slip in the draft.this year i think it will be bazz if n.o or detroit dont take him,and oladipo

i also think nate wolters sneaks in that late 1st rnd.maybe to indy,or utah
