logicParticipantIt’s now being reported that the trade talks have slowed down on the Joe Johnson trade. The nets are looking for a third team to get involved. If this trade goes down can we just plug the Cavs in the finals. Kyrie jj LeBron love mozgov with Tristan off the bench. Wow if they stay healthy. How many wins can they get. Ik Joe Johnson is not the player he once was but as fourth option on a team . He will be amazing. What are some of your thoughts

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantIs it Hayward and Varejoe for Joe Johnson???

ZachAttackParticipantThat’s what the original talks were for… Lebron likes Varejao though, so he probably won’t let it happen. I’m assuming that’s why they want a third team.

logicParticipantWould be Hayward whose contract can be waived by Aug 1st . Andy has been reported to be included aswell. The trade talks have calmed down and nets are looking for a third team to get involved. I don’t know why nets would want Andy on their squad.

mgreener_34ParticipantIf Cav’s pull this off, I’m calling shenannigans. Varejoe is probably the most injury prone player in the league, missing more than 1/2 the season 4 out of the last 5 years, and hasn’t been healthy since 2008…Any team that trades for him and his newly signed contract that will pay him $10 mil over the next 3 years is crazy. Even with the cap spike that is too much for Andy. I just can’t see any team with cap space taking that contract on, as neither the Cavs or the Nets have anything of value to sweeten the deal, which is the per usual for a team which is getting a bad contract.
Also I don’t know why the Nets would do this. Johnson is finally going to expire at the end of this year, and they can just let him walk. They have no pick this year because it belongs to the boston Celtics, so they should be trying to win as much as possible. This trade only makes them worse, AND helps two of their division rivals get stronger. Lose lose across the board for the Nets, unless they really need to save some money that badly. I’ve also heard that the Nets might throw in RHJ, which would be sickening really, so I’m not going to touch that.
Obviously this is a good deal for CLE. Johnson isn’t the player he was, but he could def. be an offensive option when LeBron is on the bench. I don’t expect LeBron to play nearly as much as he did in the past, and we already started to see a minute reduction for his last year. Johnson would help ease that burdon, and his iso scoring will be great in the playoffs when the game slows down, and that’s when the Cavs are at their best.
Overall idk how I feel about this, as I get a 2000’s Yankee vibe from what CLE is doing. Hats off to Danny G for spending, but this is obsurd in terms of basketaball. Cavs were already the favorites to go back to the championship game, so adding JJ would probably make them the favorites to win it all.

mgreener_34ParticipantThere is obsolutely nothing in my post about the Celtics other than the fact that I said they own BRK’s pick, and I said nothing derogatory about the Cavs man. My post was just a breakdown of how I see this deal, you don’t need to get offended over it.
The playoffs ended a while ago dude…let it go.

HitsterParticipantVarejao is owed $19 million over the next two years, his final year is $10 million team option so if the Nets moved Joe they would save $5.8 million plus possible luxury tax this coming season.
Mike Miller could be part of the deal to make the salaries balance out more.
I was always a big Varejao fan but he has had a lot of injury issues in the last few years and I felt the Cavs should have moved him last summer to take advantage of the team option they had on him then and probably kept the younger Zeller or Bennett.
But we know LBJ was a big supporter or Varejao so I guess the Cavs wanted Varejaso there to help them get LBJ back.

Meditated StatesParticipantWe know this. Whatever they can do to fix the 2 finals wins and 4 losses the NBA will do. Kind of corny. Rig deals, cancel deals, force teams to make trades or rig lottery. Whatever it takes. Glad GSW won, thank God.

timinator1ParticipantHe’s not going to even see it with Love, Irving and James. this is a major chemistry problem. Joe Johnson is not going to be Udonis Haslem. This is a piece that really doesn’t fit in CLE.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantJohnson would basically fill jr Smith’s role from last season if this deal goes down. I have a feeling that he would probably come off the bench, which would definitely be an adjustment for him. He is an upgrade over Smith however, as far as being more consistent and a better all-around player.
Don’t really see how getting varejao makes any sense for the nets, unless they are just really that desperate to avoid the luxury tax. Johnson is still a very good player on an expiring contract (regardless how bad that contract is). They can do better imo.

bmac697ParticipantFrom what I was reading they haven’t talked about a deal in days. Was just a preliminary discussion that didn’t go anywhere, too many working parts to make work and have to get third team involved. I’d live the fit, but let’s be real here.

SuperTerrificManParticipantI know business wise it might be a decent option, but I will be shattered if the Cavs trade Varejao. He’s been in Cleveland his whole career and if we do finally win the title this year, it will be nowhere near as sweet without him.
