GlenTaylorSucksParticipantJust saw on ESPN rumor central that Joe Alexander is working out for the Wolves…can I have some of whatever it is Kahn is smoking? Lmao, it would make absolutely ZERO sense to sign Alexander. The last thing they need is another SF…they have 4 on the roster at the moment! Is there anything even resembling a shred of a ‘method’ to this madness?
I’m just envisioning a giant dartboard with names in the T’Wolves front office and they play drunken darts to decide what to do. Or maybe it’s like that episode of South Park where they say Family Guy is created by a bunch of manatees…except with basketball decisions. Lol

canesboy6ParticipantHonest to god, after some thought I would say he is doing an okay job. Minnesota is an awful location, small market and bad weather, so the only way they can get top talent is through taking risks and the draft. Kahn is trying to stack assets and work his way up with them. Alexander was a very high pick, and probably still has some potential and if they can get him at the minimum and have a roster spot, why not bring him in and see what he can do. Its not like they signed him anyways, they just worked him out to see what he’s got.
Last offseason, I thought he was trying to seem like a hotshot and I dont like that about his personality, but I guess he was just figuring out how to be. This offseason, he got Beasley for dirt, Tolliver who lots of teams wanted. He should have taken Cousins but I agree that Cousins would be impossible to manage in Minnesota and is very similar to Kevin Love. The Wildcard is Rubio IMO. He is still a very highly valued asset, where as I don’t think they can get back what they spent on Flynn (a top 10 pick) through a trade.
I’m not saying he is brilliant, but he has cheap guys, some cap flexibility, and the team is 2 deep at every position now with at least a respectable player. Only problem is they have nobody even close to a star. but My gut feeling is that Beasley will break out this year.

NashyMingParticipantKahn is great guy…giving second chance to every single bust in the NBA.
We will see if Alexander can make the Wolves though. I actually think it’s not a big deal, it’s also a good thing for the TWolves.
It’s true that the TWolves has way too many people playing similar style or position, but he’s giving some guys tagged with potential 2nd chance opportunities. They may turn into decent to good players. It’s not a bad thing for a rebuilding team like the Twolves to try to pick up these guys at minimum and see if they can find any hidden gems.
It’s not like Kahn is offering him more than minimum.

ilike.panochasParticipantIt doesn’t hurt to give an Athletic guy like Joe Alexander a chance, whats the worst that can happen? Its not like your committing a large, long contract.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThey are working out guys who they might invite to camp to compete for the 15th man on the roster with Greg Stiesma. It is fine to criticize Kahn for any number of things, but this isn’t one of them. Alexander does have potential, and just had the bad luck of falling into a tough situation. He wasn’t the worst rookie ever, but Milwaukee decided not to pick up his third year option last summer and basically banished him to a year of NBA purgatory.

NorthernLights666Participantwhere Corey Brewer and Telfair would be traded to Boston for Rasheed Wallace’s retiring contract and a 1st Round Pick in 2012 or 2013. Alexander would take Brewer’s energy wing role, with much less financial commitment, the Wolves plan to play Webster, Johnson, and Beasley at least 30 minutes a game.

mgreener_34ParticipantIf that happened that would be an absolute steal for the Celtics, though I’m not to keen on having Telfair back.

canesboy6ParticipantIs he going to be a Free agent? Cuz otherwise that makes no sense. If they have no chance of retaining him, and no chance of competing this year, then by all means get a first rounder for him but if you can keep him, you should because he is probably there best player right now (very sad fact) or thier second best.

NorthernLights666ParticipantBrewer will be a Restricted Free Agent in 2011 and the Wolves don’t want to pay him. They like what they have for wings in Webster, Johnson, and hybrid 3/4s Beasley and Tolliver. I guess they think the Celtics will be going downhill fast by the time 2012 or 2013 comes around and feel getting a pick from them in one of those years will make up for their pick they have to give to the Clippers in 2012.
