negguaryParticipantTo the sixers on a one year deal which is key to future flexibility! Sixers top four in east book it!

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantI like it a lot. 76ers gotta be the most interesting team in the NBA.

EndlessknightParticipantInteresting signing. Can’t believe Redick took a one year deal. Not sure how he fits but Redick and Bayless now give the Sixers two 40% 3-point shooter to go along with some really goof playmakers and an elite center.

joe2324Participantif they can stay healthy, my god, this is a scary team. If Embiid gets to play full games at full health, you could see him put up some scary numbers – numbers that translate into wins, not just empty stats. There will be plenty of opportunties for Reddick to just sit back and knock 3s down. If Simmons is as good as advertised, add another playmaker and with Fultz things could get interesting. You have Jahill coming off the bench giving you 12 minutes a game, a guy who can start at center for any other team in the league.

tblazer_NZParticipantJahlil could not start on many teams in the league, let alone any other team. Saying he could start on any other team is to as he is the 2nd best Center in the NBA.

HitsterParticipantInteresting that it is just a one year deal, I could understand Philly frontloading it given that JJ is 33 now. It’s a payday for him and as a pure shooter he really helps to spread the floor as starting SG or as 6th man.
The 76ers could line up:-
PG Fultz
SG Reddick
SF (nominally) Simmons put maybe effectively a point forward
PF Saric
C Embiid
or if they decide to use Simmons as a pure point then Covington plays SF and Reddick from bench.
The opposition could have to change things around if Simmons is ball carrier, Fultz will be a menance off ball, Embiid could draw double team, Reddick and Saric will help stretch the play given their shooting, so Philly could be hard to match up.
They won 28 games with Embeast only playing 30 odd games and no Simmons and Fultz last season so if they make a similar improvement they could be play off bound. A lot will of course depend how the new guys go, and the key will be keeping them all especially Embeast sound. If there was a bigger jump than expected last season then we may not see such a big leap again. If they win say 35 games, it will still be a good improvement and Philly will be looking for the guys to mesh and stay sound above play off dreams at this time.

EndlessknightParticipantI understand your rational but I think 35 wins would be underachieving. They would’ve won 35 games this past season if Embiid was healthy. Now they are adding Simmons, Fultx, Redick and Bayless.
If this team is healthy anything less than 40 wins is underachieving.

holefillers1ParticipantI would go with a three guard lineup of Simmons, Fultz, JJ with Covington and Embiid. Saric leads the second unit

HitsterParticipantWe all thought Minny might explode towards 0.500 last year and they didn’t so I’m putting a bit of downplay on what Philly might do. Personally I think that it will be between 35 to 40 odd wins. But when I see people saying they might be top 6 seed out East, I’m just taking a more long term view. If they had won say 20 games last year and went to 35 wins in 2018, we’d all say good progress. But with them getting 28 wins last season, we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves yet.
When Embeast played last season they won 13 out of 31 which would have equated to 34/35 wins over an 82 game season so Endless Knight makes an excellent point there. To be fair Joel was sitting a number of games so if sound may have only play 60-65 games.

jjj10manParticipantI would go with
Fultz
Reddick
Covington
Simmons
Embiid
6th man Dario

BeastMode716ParticipantB/c Minnesota really has no bench & they don’t seem to have a system in place – last year they pretty much relied on KAT or Wig to pull a win out of their rear end
I think all that will change this year now that Thibbs had a Full year to assess the situation
But for as bad as Phila was the last 4 years Brett Brown has been there the entire time & last year you could really see they have a deep team of young talent & they play a definitive style
They have an identity. They all bust it on defense, No one plays Iso, they All move the ball, run off screens, cut to the basket. They are actually a fun team to watch & they’re young bench players are solid & gettin gbetter every year.
Richaun Holmes, Saric, Covington, Luwawu, Anderson, TJ McConnell – none of these guys are in there Big 3 of Fultz, Simmons & Embiid or their free agents: Bayless, Reddick or Amir Johnson – but they are Solid role players & border line starters in Covington & Saric’s case who have been in the same system for awhile, they all know their roles & they embrace them
Especially when you consider that Chicago, Atlanta & Indiana are no win Rebuild mode – Phila could make a Big Jump this year in the East. I could Def see them as a #6 seed & a 45 game winner
