Boston Celtics president Danny Ainge wants to nab Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler before Thursday’s trade deadline, and the “main sticking point” is not which draft pick (or picks) are included in the deal, but whether or not forward Jae Crowder will be involved, according to TNT’s David Aldridge, via CelticsHub’s Brian Robb.

“I think the Jimmy Butler stuff is real,” Aldridge said on NBA TV. “They have been trying to get Jimmy Butler. [Ainge] doesn’t want to give up Jae Crowder. That’s the main sticking point there and he doesn’t want to give up Jae Crowder in a deal and that’s the guy the Bulls are insisting on right now in any package for Butler.

“The picks will work themselves out. Boston has about 600 first-round picks in the next five years, so they’ll make it work. That part I’m not worried about. I think it really comes down to Crowder. In terms of real, tangible players, I think Danny would like to go into the playoffs with Smart, Bradley, Crowder defensively along with Butler, Horford, Thomas offensively. I think he feels like that’s he only way they’ll be able to compete with a team like Cleveland.

Here’s a trade I think works for both parties:

    G Jimmy Bulter

    for

F Amir Johnson, Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier and 2 First Round picks

After what the Pelicans got DMC for, I think that Ainge will be playing his cards close to his chest but this deal looks fair value. The Bulls FO is smart as well and would likely want at least one of the Nets picks.

Have you read any of the reports. Chicago is not likely to pull the trigger unless they get Crowder. Thats the hold up on this trade. It would likely be Crowder and Brooklyn’s pick + maybe another top first rounder

I agree Chicago’s front office is a little better then Sacramento, but that’s not saying much. Im not surprised by anything the Kings do. They draft either a SG or a Big every year. Can’t rebuild thru the draft or free agency. The Kings had plenty opportunities to put talent around Cousins. They didn’t resign IT after averaging 20PPG. They also drop the ball on Whiteside who was All-star snub this season in my opinion. In The 2011 draft The kings had 7th pick, which is the draft that produced Kemba # 9, Klay  # 11, Kwahi #15, Bulter #30 and they trade for Jimmer. It was 7 players in the all star game this year that the Kings had the opportunity to draft since Cousins has been in the league. So basically what I’m trying to say is we knew this was coming and Boston would be foolish to think they’ll get Jimmy that easy.

Bulls fan (or anyone), would you take this trade?

    Butler + Gibson for Nets 2018 1st + Crowder + Johnson + Jerebko + Clippers 2019 1st  + Minnesotas 2017 2nd

I know I’m pushing it by not including this years Brooklyn pick but if you’re wanting Crowder and Wade opts in, then rebuilding is being delayed anyway.

Are we talking about the same 27 year old Jimmy Bulter that’s a 3x all star and 3x All defensive team? The same Jimmy Bulter that’s averaging 24PPG 6 REB 5AST on a playoff team? If we’re talking about that Jimmy Bulter then No, the nets 2017 pick has to be included.

Sixers have now contacted Chicago about Butler with 24hrs to go. Interesting as Philly has just moved Ilyasova.

What are they offering? Maybe their own pick, their option over one of the Lakers or Kings picks,  as well as Okafor?  What do you think?  Is that enough or too much?

In any case,  something around Mirotic for Okafor may happen since Ilyasovas gone
