Jerryd Bayless

As a pure scorer in only 1 season at Arizona, averaging near 20ppg. I would like to know did Jerryd Bayless fall off as a premiere player coming into the NBA?

He just went to the wrong

He just went to the wrong team. Similar to Eric Gordon and O.J Mayo IMO

Bayless could be a starter for about 20 teams in the NBA but he's stuck in Portland. I think if he went to a team who uses a scoring point guard, he would be a 15ppg, 6apg guy.

What do you mean? Did we

What do you mean? Did we expect him to be an allstar at some point in his career because of his college career, maybe. Did we expect him to lose a battle to Steve Blake for the starting spot in Portland, hell no. He is however making himself usefull to the team and his instant offence has made him a fan favorite in Portland and he will get PT because the people like him. Not sure if he is starting caliber on a winning team but he can be a great guy to bring off the bench.

I love his tenacity though.

@knicksboy32

are you saying that you think Eric Gordon and O.J. Mayo went to the wrong teams too? They both have been averaging over 17 a game n aint even 21 yet. So I ask you what are you talking about. But Jerryd Bayless without a doubt went to the wrong team. The Pacers made a monumental mistake by trading him. He somehow fell into their laps, and their they are needing a point guard and they get one with as much potential as anyone else in the draft and they trade him. Now this year it looks like theyre gonna settle for Avery Bradley or Eric Bledsoe, what a shame because Bayless does almost everything better then both of them and is just as athletic, check that more athletic if you believe the Combine results cuz his were better the Bradleys. I would of loved to see him go to the Knicks cuz he would fit their run and gun perfect probably to the tune of around 20 points per game. Yes he is capable of that.

Yea, I think both could do

Yea, I think both could do better.

Had O.J. Mayo never got traded by Minnesota? He would have had 20-5-3 in his rookie season and would have been playing the "Kobe" role in the Triangle offense this past season.

Eric Gordon's numbers won't be as high because he's playing with Baron Davis and Chris Kaman. Had he been a Knick or a Sun? 20 ppg easy.

@THE i IN WIN

Lets not forget that Andre Miller couldn't beat Steve Blake out for the starting job before the season started either.

Yeah thats true, the

Yeah thats true, the organization brought him in and said he is the starter and they kept their word. They said they didn't want to start him because he didn't fit well with Roy, if he doesn't fit with your best player then why did you sign him?

@knicksboy32

i couldnt agree more i would love to see Eric Gordon play for somebody like the Suns where he would be the beneficiary of Nash passes n would have free reign to bomb threes all game. And Mayo would b perfect for the Triangle...I'm a big advocate of the Thunder-Twolves trading Harden and Love straight up cuz both them players would fit better on them teams. Especially Harden playing for the Wolves.

If the Thunder got Love,

If the Thunder got Love, where does that leave Green? I feel Green should start somewhere....

i loved the james harden pick

i loved the james harden pick last year. Kevin Love is one legit stud too though. I can honestly say if i was either GM i would lose so much sleep over either decision

I was pissed when the Pacers

I was pissed when the Pacers traded him on draft day and i'm still pissed now. He has the potential to be at least a 18ppg-6or7apg player. He most defiantly would have been a great starting PG with Granger and Hibbert in Indy.

I think bayless will be out

I think bayless will be out of Portland whenever his rookie contract is up because some team will be willing to pay more to take the roles discussed here for their teams. He is instant offense and a rock solid defender. If he were to get extended minutes alongside brandon Roy he'd be crazy and exciting. I do think he's out soon though

I think Bayless is going to have a good year

He has earned the coaches respect with his play in the playoffs. He is hard working and is undoubtedly gonna show up to camp in shape and ready to go. Unless Miller is traded, I think Nate is going to just start him and avoid the whole fiasco again, but that Bayless will get a good amount of PT next to Roy. I am very interested to see if Bayless can get Oden going, as that relationship is key. However look at Bayess' recent numbers they would indicate to me that he could have a breakout year....

someone said they are not

someone said they are not even 21 ..No actually Mayo was an old freshman he will be 23 by the start of the next season and Gordon will be 22 in winter..but yeahh they have so much upside left actually i don't think Bayless is in their level. he is good but not that good those two could be top5 sgs in 2015.

after the draft every one

after the draft every one think that he would be perfect fit in Portland, playing in the back court next to Roy.
the problem it didn't work is because Bayless outside shooting exposed as not so good, that he has flaws in his jump shot.

Along with Mayo and Bayless,

Along with Mayo and Bayless, i think we can add Beasley as one of the players not reaching their potentials(so far) because of team needs/fits.

I like Bayless. He is one of

I like Bayless. He is one of the few players on the team that will drive the ball to the hoop. He needs to work on his perimeter game and despite him being very aggressive he could be a bad thing. On a fast break 1 on 3 he would drive to the hoop which isn't very smart.

I love Bayless' game. He can

I love Bayless' game. He can put up nice stats if he started for a bad team as knicksboy32 pointed out, but he's perfect in the instant offense role on a playoff team. I feel that as he improves his playmaking ability more and more, he can start staying in during the 4th quarter more often than in the past. Also, I feel that Bayless most overlooked trait is his on-ball D. He's a tough defender when matched up one-on-one with PG's.
