I know there are some Jeremy Lin fans on this site, myself being one.  This was pulled from the rumors section on espn.com

The New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors are in the market for a point guard and ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reports both teams have interest in free agent Jeremy Lin.

Lin became available when the Houston Rockets waived him on Saturday to open up a spot on their roster for Samuel Dalembert.

The Knicks are currently shorthanded at point guard with injuries to Baron Davis [back], Mike Bibby [back] and rookie Iman Shumpert [knee], which is why they are considering making a move.

Lin was waived by the Warriors soon after training camp opened and they may bring him back, if he clears waivers.

Knicks would be a perfect fit for him, they need a smart player who can steady the ship until Davis is healthy and Shumpert recovers. Would be nice to see a guy who gets by on playing smart basketball succeed in the NBA.

Lin never made sense on the Warriors because he was playing behind Curry and Ellis. So he was about the same size as those guys but obviously a much worse player. He is probably better than M. Bibby right now though. On the other hand, he doesn’t have the worlds greatest jumper as he is more of a penatrating guard than a jump shooter and if the offense is going through Melo, you kind of want jump shooters to make teams pay for doubling. So in that sense, Bibby who can still shoot a little is a somewhat better fit.

Mainly teams want to pair Lin with a city with a large Asian fan base. If you don’t have that, Lin isn’t going to be as valuable to you. So New York is one of the few teams that make sense.

I agree with you because if it were about ability they would have brought in Gilbert I am shooting the place up Areanas or Nate robinson. about trying to get the Asian Fan base to the games. Although he has skills it is more of an economic move for the Knicks

The Knicks make the most sense, he could thrive(well anybody can) in this system. Hopefully we grab him as the Warriors got Ish Smith and Monta Ellis as other PG’s if they keep Curry out

Zero suitors… He wasn’t that good and only had an intriguing marketbility factor.

Dhamp…..the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway

I went to a Knicks – Warriors game last year and stuck around to meet Steph Curry after the game. Lin was also hanging with folks in the stands a whole Asian crew (Curry had security as you would expect, but Lin was just chilling in jeans, nobody outside of his Asian crew was really paying him any mind). There are also all the Harvard grads in the city and some of them make good money and have access to corporate accounts. Lin lets you market to Asians and Ivy League. That plays better in NYC than it would in Oklahoma City.

Damn, someone had to dig up this thread. Well at least I said "he is probably better than Bibby". But I worried that he didn’t have a jump shot and that he wouldn’t do a great job sitting around spreading the floor while Melo dribbled the ball. Melo being out has really been the best thing for Lin’s development possible. Now the pick and roll is so established and that Lin makes decisions for the team that even Melo will have to give up some control of the offense to Lin. After a few more weeks of Bibby really settling into being terrible, I would have said Lin is definitly better than Bibby. But I never would have guessed he would have been scoring over 20 points a game.
