Hey guys this is my first post ever here. I am a die hard sixers fan. Anywho I wanted to get your thoughts on Aaron Gordon and Jerami Grant. I believe these two guys are the best defensive wing players in the draft and could one day become the two best wing defenders in the NBA. I think it is important to develop them almost exclusively as SF’s and in small ball 4 lineups. Gordon to me is very similar to a Nic Batum n Richard Jefferson kind of player. Immense potential here. I also see Jerami Grant developing into an Andrei Kirlenko level player.

What are your thoughts on these guys and the best team they could excel in. For Gordon i think he would thrive in Phoenix and Grant in Atlanta although Gordon certainly will be gone by then. Thoughts?

Hawks fan here. Over the past couple weeks I have become quit fond of Grant. Mainly do to the thought of "settling" for him when the top SGs are gone. Btw I disagree with your assumption that Grant would be gone by our pick at #15.

We know his strengths, athletic and long, but I think his weakness of shooting can improve. Upon watching his scouting video, dude has a weird hitch at his release. This is something I think a trainer can work on with him. Other than that, his form is fluid. As for why he hasn’t improved in college, he played mostly pf and they didn’t put him in positions to shoot. If we miss in the SGs, not necessarily higher potentials but they are more ready to contribute, I would be happy with Grant in Atlanta. Much more so than Anderson, who we’ve invited back for a second workout.

Yea I was talking about Gordon being gone by the Suns pick but i mean one more year of Kyle Korver and Lou Williams isnt that bad for a starting SG i hope schroeder can lead the 2nd unit next year too. And i like Kyle Anderson but i dont think hes the greatest fit when it comes to shooting and lack of athleticism at the SF position for the way the Hawks play. Grant can fit in with Teague n Schroeder and he doesnt need the ball in his hands to be effective.

gordon to boston is the best fit in my opinion.  he’s a beast on the boards.  on the offensive end, he’ll have putback opportunities and iso on the block with the perimeter shooting and spacing by olynyk and sullinger.  the same in regards for defensive rebouding as olynyk is "soft" at times.

for grant, i think the ideal situation is with memphis.  they are a defensive minded team and don’t necessary look for offensive minded players.  they also have zach randolph (player option) and ed davis (restricted free agent).  my guess is someone will pull ed davis from their roster so grant can get pt as a backup pf and develop his perimeter skills during practice.  then he can ease into his new role while still getting some floor time.

I like the Grant idea in that they are able to create and mold their new starting defensive SF of the future and letting him play. It would be imperative tho to get a SG that could shoot although Tony Allen is amazing, his lack of shooting ability limits floor spacing and hinders offensive execution. Im not a fan of Gordon is Boston simply because there isn’t enough shooting on the team to withstand his defencies. Rondo and Avery Bradley are poor shooters and Jeff Green is a WAY better offensive option then Gordon right now. Celtics need a big man but there aren’t any in the top of the 1st rd outside Embiid. They need rim protectors bad/

Jerami Grant gets a look at 22 with Memphis.

The LA Clippers also need help at small forward.  Good athlete, projects as a solid defender.  Might also be big enough to be Blake’s main backup at power forward.

If he is still there at 29, I think the Thunder should take him.  He gives Durant a good backup, and a guy to throw at the LeBron James type players.  They could do a lot of different long, athletic lineups with Durant, Ibaka, Jerami Grant, and Steven Adams.  The Thunder could also use a guy who can manufacture some points (not just a standstill shooter).  Grant could be that guy at 29, especially if they still aren’t sold on Perry Jones.

Heck, Miami could use a young athlete, especially at the 3/4 spot.  With Battier retiring and Beasley not panning out, Jerami Grant could replace those guys (as well as take the minutes of Rashard Lewis and Udonis Haslem).

Aaron Gordon is a guy I have going to Boston, but mainly due to a Kevin Love trade with Minnesota.  If he doesn’t go there, then he is a PERFECT fit at 8 to the Kings.  He can rebound, hustle, defend, and do to the dirty work while Cousins, Rudy, and Thomas take all the shots.

If the Celtics don’t get Gordon, I wonder if they take a shot at Zach LaVine?  I can see LaVine going in that 6-9 range now.  I don’t see him getting past 10 (Philly) or 11 (Denver).

I really dont understand the Celtics wanting Gordon when he doesnt stretch the floor and they have little perimeter shooting. Jerami Grant would be perfect for the Heat in that defensive scheme but it will never happen cus he wont get that far. I also have no idea what the Clippers are going to do with Reggie Bullock because he should’ve been getting some minutes the way Hardaway was.

Jerami Grant should continue his uncle Horace’s playing legacy with the Bulls.

Or, his dad, Harvey’s, legacy by playing in DC.
