Jennings says he's better than Rubio
I agree. Jennings is a fool...I think he is all hype as well. I think he was joking man.
Rubio probably saw this and just laughed..."LOL, this brother thinks he's better than me?" Rubio wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Jennings.
i cant say i've seen a great deal of either of them, so i cant really comment...but i dont really like the fact that he would bash Rubio that way in an interview, whether he's right or not....doesnt seem very professional....on the other hand i appreciate his candor...i just wouldnt have done it...
Even if he felt that way, he should'nt have said it. He already has some character questions and this just makes him look even more unprofessional. That's the type of stuff you say chilling with your boys, not to a reporter while you're preparing for the draft.
There was a pretty good article on ESPN.com about Jennings by Chad Ford. It sounds like he really put in some work & matured during his year overseas, even though it didn't really show up on the stat sheet. But something else that came up is a concern that a lot of guys question whether he can lead a team, or if he's only going to be one of those guys who puts up good numbers on bad teams because he's all about his numbers, rather than winning or being a good teammate (think AI or Starbury). An interview like this doesn't help with that perception I'd imagine.
A Rivalry is Born! I like this. A little trash talk never hurts anybody. I like Jennings swagger. You know he could be right about Rubio. Then again he could be full of s&%t.
True. That may have been a little bit overboard with the trash talking. I would never say anything to harsh about another player. That could hurt Rubios' draft stock. Purposely trying to damage a persons draft stock is a low blow especially when it is purely used to benefit yourself. If I was Jennings I would've just said yes I think I am better than Rubio and left it at that. I wouldn't have dissed him that bad.
Do you really think General Managers are listening to other players in the same draft? I mean, really?
Remember when DeRozen said that he wanted to play James Harden one-on-one in a workout? I think that was classy. He got the point across that he is confident but he didn't make himself sound arrogant.
Jennings is just talking. Like a punk.
Harden versus DeRozen would be fun to watch.
wouldnt mind if he said somethin like that , thats just asking for competition and wanting 2 prove yourself against one another ( Derozan was much more mature the way he handled his comp.
i remember derozan sayin that 2
I think that Jennings is going to be a very popular player and start out really good, but by the end of his career, I think he is going to be a player who makes teams worse.. Like AI. I'm not gonna lie, AI is one of the best players in the NBA, but he absolutely kills teams. You saw what a difference it was for Denver when Iverson was there compared to when Chauncey is there.. And he definately made the Pistons worse. I believe that's going to be what happens to Jennings... all about stats, and highlight reel.
Why can't Jennings have an opinion? I mean Jennings played against Rubio in Europe twice and outplayed him statistically.
Everyone in the NBA talks trash.
Let them settle it when they play each other in the NBA.
If he really said all that then it was uncalled for but you do know that the media puts spins on things. If he did that was stupid of him.
But this is way beyond normal trash talk IMO. I've never heard a player diss another player this bad before a draft. I don't think it's ever happened before. Strange that he chose to put that out there.
prove yourself in the nba matchup before you say anything
you answered ur own question
and i see you, every post bout Rubio all u say is comments hating on him
i love the trash talk. jennings obviously thinks he's better and feels this is the way he needs 2 express himself. as 4 this being a rivalry idk if we can call it that yet becuz neither has really done anything or proved anything
When asked about their head-to-head matchup last year, the 6-2 Jennings boasted "Well, when I played him, he had zero points, two assists and two turnovers. So you tell me how that went."
MY OPINION ----Ask jennings who won
JOVENTUT won ok
Were in that situation they would have said the same thing. Maybe not just answer, "yeah", to the all hype question, but people here think and say that. Jennings is a player trying to make a name for himself, and if I know one thing about basketball players, they are their favorite subject. Ask most any player in the league and they think they are the best. Kobe, Dwyane Wade, LeBron, Carmelo, Chris Paul, so on, they give each other props, but they all think they are the best player in the league. When asked who the best player was at the All-Star game, most guys said "Kobe" or "LeBron", but Joe Johnson was like, "I think I am. I can't say anyone is better than me." If Rubio busted Brandon up, than he would have a right to have beef. But as of right now, they are both competing to go as high as they can, and Brandon is behind and felt like speaking on his game. He should let his game speak for itself, but if someone asks that question, it is usually hard to be diplomatic. Ask it to Ricky Rubio and see what he would say.
Probs shouldnt say this, but you know what it is the damn truth. Jennings will be better than Rubio. Cant wait to they play each other, Rubio will be posterised and at least Jennings will play for any NBA team unlike Rubio you should really prove YOU CAN PLAY NBA BEFORE MAKING DEMANDS OF WHERE YOU WANT TO PLAY!!!!!
you guys that are defending Jennings by saying everyone in the nba talks a little trash are not looking at this the right way. Neither Jennings nor Rubio have done anything to prove themselves in the league yet. These guys are all competing for jobs, and you should'nt try to improve your draft stock and hurt someone else's by sh.it talking them. I don't care if he feels that way, but wait until you prove yourself in the league before you start disrespecting other guys. Also, it could come back to hurt him because GM's could look at it as poor attitude and immaturity.
im in agreement with llperez22 kind of...when youre that young most of the time youre gonna say youre better then another player..another way you have to look at it is if you say this player is better then you some gms maylook at it was lack of confidents kinda like when dirk said keyon martain or nene can guard him then charles barkley and kenny and chris weber laid into him about never saying that..webber actually said that you suppossed to always think and let people know that a player can guard you..as far as knicks boy saying rubio is wayyyyyyyyyyy better im willing to bet you have never seen rubio play other than highlights and the olympics ( in which he averaged 4pts 3ast 2turnovers)...so give me a break with that
mikenike, llperez22
They played each other in Europe so they can comment on their games.
Ok... Rubio's team won, but Jennings outplayed him. Jenning's plays less minutes too.
Nothing wrong with some competition
nothing at all wrong with that...whats funny is alot of peopel get mad when someone gives a politically correct answer like kobe does..but love charles barkley because he tells it like he feels...hes just being real with how he feels
Reporter: Mike Conley had a nice game with 20 points and 8 assists, what do you think of him as a player?
Chris Paul: So? So?! SO?!? I average 20 points every game. 8 assists is my season low. It's obvious I'm the better player. He won't score 20 the next time I play him! He's all hype. ALL HYPE!!!
My point is that if Jennings really thought he was better he wouldn't have to try to make Rubio look bad.
I'm a New Yorker too and I love his attitude. He doesnt hesitate with the media and he wont be awestruck in NY. I pray we get him. I knew he had the talent but now I am sure he has the mentality of a star as well.
he says they played equal minutes? rubio played 10 minutes at the most and jennings played 30! what a joke. also, rubio was injured and was playing on one hand. however, first play he played on defense, he stripped the ball from jennings and amazingly got it to bounce out off of jennings. O and he did that with one hand. jennings is going to get a wake up call come october/november.
Brandon Jennings is just a flashy player not a winner that's why I dont take him ahead Rubio... Rubio's gonna break his ankles sooner than expected... Jennings is the player who is all hype...not Rubio. are you kidding me?

here's what he said in an interview
Jennings was not at all bashful about saying he thought he got the better of Rubio in his head-to-head matchup this season, but things really got interesting when he was asked how Rubio would compare to college freshmen.
Jennings: Well, put it like this: If he was in a workout with me, Jonny Flynn, Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson, Stephen Curry, he wouldn't even probably be at the top.
Reporter: You think he's all hype?
Jennings: Yeah.
Reporter: Because?
Jennings: Because he played in the Olympics, he been playing pro ball since he been 14, so you know, there it is right there. And you know, his stats? 26 minutes, and he be having like 16 points, 7 assists [inaudible -- sounds like he says 900] steals? Come on. Twenty-six minutes, and you have all that? So I really don't know. I really don't know. I can't wait to play him, though. I'm just letting y'all know that now. I can't wait.
And then there was this cherry on top:
Reporter: You think you should go before Ricky Ruubio in the draft?
Jennings: Yeah, I think I'm a better player than he is. I can shoot the ball better than he can. The only time I've seen him do something is when he has a home run pass or something. So I think the dude is all hype. I can't even front. I'm going to be real with you guys.
When asked about their head-to-head matchup last year, the 6-2 Jennings boasted "Well, when I played him, he had zero points, two assists and two turnovers. So you tell me how that went."
And there you have it. Can we officially say a rivalry is born because of this? We knew it was going to be the year of the point guard in the draft, but not only is that where we'll see the greatest talent, but it's also where we'll see the most interesting storylines develop.
LOST SOME RESPECT FOR HIM HOW CAN YOU SAY RUBIO'S ALL HYPE,AND UR PRETTY MUCH ALL HYPE TOO
