He came up big tonight playing 45 mins for Hinrich. I always felt he should be the starting anyway because I feel like he can develop into a very good pg. The Hawks are not doing themselves any good having him sit on the bench all the time. Hopefully this can be a Wally Pipp moment for Teague. I don’t dislike Hinrich I just think that it should be Teagues job.

Teague did an excellent job of keeping Rose in front of him, and had a good shot selection on offense….great game from him, I agree.

Did a great job but should never start on this team over Hinrich. He cant shoot and he doesnt defend as well as kirk although he is a decent defender and he also is only effective on offense with the ball and you kno the offense runs through Crawford and Joe. With that being said he should get at least 15-20 mins a night to develop or they will see him grow on another team

I wouldn’t say he cant shoot, he did shoot 48% from the field and 44% from 3 in college his sophomore year, which was at 43% and 38% as a freshman.

I would say he probably isn’t confident yet, and isn’t playing as loose as he probably can, for the lack of playing time, or fear of going back to the bench.

teague just needs time and patience…as long as the hawks install confidence in him and give him the playing time necessary to develop, teague should be good.

Does well when he gets legit minutes. Hinrich should not even be on this Hawks team. Rick Sund is a horrible GM and has a horrible track record for someone who has been doing this for 30 years. No sensible GM would have given up essentially 2 1st round draft picks (Jordan Crawford and this years 1st) and lessor contracts for a stopgap PG in Hinrich.

You obviously aren’t a Hawks fan because Sund has done the best he can considering the circumstances.  He has continued to put together a quality team that has gone to the Eastern Conference Semi’s for three straight years.  This team’s problems on the court have nothing to do with Sund or his moves.  If you watch the Hawks at all before the trade you would have realized that they weren’t very good defensively.  Mike Bibby might be the worst defensive PG in the league.  Hinrich is an automatic upgrade in every aspect except for 3 pt. shooting and even then he’s no slouch.  As far as what Sund gave up are you kidding me?  Jordan Crawford would have sat at the end of the bench for us and would have never gotten any PT.  With Joe, Jamal, Teague, Bibby/Hinrich he would have been the 5th guard.  This year’s first round pick isn’t that valuable either with such a weak class coming out.  The Hawks pick would be in the 20’s again and we wouldn’t have the chance to pick an impact player who can help immediately.  Hinrich can do both of those things (be an impact player and help immediately).  We have him under contract for one more year and as long as he takes less money next summer I wouldn’t mind resigning him.

The Hawks are a better team after that trade and that’s a fact.

I am a Hawks fan and they could have just started Teague and moved Bibby to the bench, kept Jordan incase they can’t resign Jamal. They needed and need a C and SF a lot more than a stopgap PG like Hinrich.

Teague shocked me not on an athletic effort but mentally. He was focused all game and made alot less mistakes that I expected. He should definitely be a starter in this league. So athletic and quick…

Teague did a good job but hasn’t shown the steady consistency  that Kirk has.  He needs to become more of a floor general but that being said he should have been starting over Bibby at some point considering he can’t even guard his own shadow anymore.

You are missing the point.  Of course we need a center but there were none to be had at the trading deadline and none to be had with our mid 20’s first round either.  Sund did exactly what he needed to do to compete this year and next.  I guarantee you we don’t get past the Magic with Bibby starting and most definitely wouldn’t get past the Bulls.  The Hawks are a different team now and Joe Johnson no longer has to expend all of his energy on the defensive side of the ball chasing around opposing team’s PG’s.  Teague still isn’t ready to assume the starting PG role and to make those assumptions based on one game (last night) is ridiculous.

Why can’t you realize that the Hawks pick this year doesn’t have that much value and giving up Jordan Crawford for Hinrich is a good thing as far as I’m concerned because it makes us more of a contender this year and next.  I have zero clue why people are so high on Jordan Crawford.  He is an undersized off guard who can score the ball but only when he takes a lot of shots.  The more pressing need was a defensive minded PG to do exactly what Hinrich did in the first round and what I wish he was doing in the 2nd round.

As a massive Hawks fan I can agree with the sentiment that we gave up too much for Hinrich, we basically had the offer or Mo Evans, Bibby, and the late first for Hinrich but the Wizards demanded Jordan Crawford and we conceded. Front office should have had more back bone, when push came to shove the Wizards would have accepted the deal even without Crawford because they wanted that first rounder and Hinrich’s contract off the books. With that said a true Hawk fan would never insult Hinrich. After having Bibby for so long Hinrich’s defense has immediately made our team 10x better. We no longer have to shade towards the PG because Bibby couldn’t stay in front of his man. Also Hinrich has been incredibly consistent making open jump shots and he plays the pick and roll really well. While I was happy with Teague’s performance last night, I’m not going to go overboard. We’ve seen it before. He’ll have good games but also games when you want him to GTFO. His defense isn’t normally good and a lot of Rose’s struggles were purely on an off night not necessarily Teague doing anything great. Teague still can’t shoot to save his life and he isn’t a good distributor. I do like his dribble drive and quickness on defense but I’ll be honest I don’t ever expect him to be a starter PG on any team in the league. He’s a sparkplug scorer who can give you good minutes from time to time. Ideal scenario is that he develops into the eventual successor of Jamal Crawford in that 6th man/scoring dynamo role. He definitely needs to improve his shooting and decision making big time though.

Anyone that says there are no C’s around in the late teens to early 20’s has never heard of Bebe. Teague once again tonite proved his metal and yes Hinrich is a stopgap and if that is an insult just stop reading my posts. Hinrich was a stopgap for the Bulls because they got Rose and the same goes for Washington because they got Wall. The same is coming true in ATL as they now have Teague but the difference is the Hawks gave up way too much to get the guy when they had more pressing issues.
