    Needs to leave ATL.

When he’s aggressive he’s unguardable, Josh Smith comes back today and Teague goes back to being super passive, I can’t stand him playing with Josh Smith.

I hope Teague leaves so he can reach his full potential, he could easily average 20 and 6

Teague is a monster and the only thing the Hawks have going well right now.

He needs to command the ball more half of the time when Josh gets a rebound he looks around first for the outlet and Teague is already running down the court, if u want the ball go get it. And truthfully its mostly just attrocious coaching by Larry Drew. The offensive is basically one on one. Joe Johnson will overdribble and take a ridiculous end of the shot clock shot. Josh Smith will take shots out of range even if he dominates in the post. Marvin Williams will take outside shots like he’s Ray Allen. Not to mention when Horford gets the ball in the post he takes random hook shots. There is just on offensive system. Teague hurts himself though because he can’t hit a jump shot to save his life. If you are playing off JJ and Smith u need to hit the open J and at this point he can’t.

thats a joke ^ jeff teague is f’ucking badass with sick handles, a nice jumper and hes extremely quick… larry drew is a worthless coach. their entire offense is joe johnson going 1 on 1… also, his inconsistency with minutes for tracy mcgrady is alarming

I’m with invalid on this one, i don’t know if averaging 20 and 6 is going to come easily, i like teague, but he’s not a true pg and doesn’t seem to make anyone better around him, he’s a smaller less talented Monta Ellis in my eyes, I loved him coming out of Wake and he’s been somewhat disappointing to me because I hyped him up so much.

Teague will fit the name that some Atlanta fans have given him perfectly within the next 5 years. Thats JTII, meaning Jason Terry #2. That means he will leave Atlanta one way or another and he will be a key part of a better more respected organization for the next 10-15 years. Teague does not fit this team because he needs the ball in his hand,  he is not someone that can play off of Al, Joe, and Josh and make open shots. Not his game. Like Jason Terry he will end up a case study for how bad teams let good pieces get away.

I agree Teague has awesome potential and Smoove is expendable, especially after a career year they could get a lot in return.

D12 has mentioned wanting to play with Smoove, they’re good friends and he’s a player of the caliber, after another season like this current one, that could make the Magic true contenders in East. What about this?

Hawks Get: Ryan Anderson (S+T), First Rd Pick (19), $4.2M Trade Exception (Brandon Bass)

    Magic Get: Josh Smith

Figuring Anderson’s sign and trade deal is for about $8-10M a year, the salaries should match.

The Magic get the best two-way PF in the league this year to play next to Dwight; with good shooters and veterans like Richardson, Nelson, Redick and Turkoglu around them, plus a starter-worthy Glen Davis off the bench, that team could win a lot of games.

The Hawks get the league’s most improved player (in one of the most competitive years ever for that award), a perfect 4-man to play next to Horford who, despite wanting to play PF, is clearly a perennial all-star when healthy. Anderson could easily put up 19 and 8  in 36 minutes next year after posting 16.1 and 7.7 in 32 minutes this year. The Hawks would become much more dynamic and I think they’d have a better chance of taking down one of the East’s true elites. And don’t underestimate the importance of that mid-late first round pick; right now, at 19, this site has John Henson and DX has Marquis Teague.

Teague is a fine player, but generally guys with aggressiveness issues just… have aggressiveness issues.  He’d be great fronting a second unit and is among the better defensive ones in the game, but as a starter, he’s just a league average guy.  All starters, besides like the Bobcats, are going to play with other guys who can score.

I think his inconsitency comes from not being aggressive all the time and deferring to Joe Johnson and Josh Smith(More so Josh).

    Peep this out:

Anytime Jeff scores 15 points or more and has at least 5 assist or more the Hawks record is 32-12.

Common sense, let Teague play his game and the Hawks are more successful, when he’s being passive and doesn’t score over 10 points or has less than 5 assist the Hawks are 5-18.

Teague is lightning quick has a sick handle can explode and finish in traffic has terrific defense, and can push the ball, Teague’s season average was 12 and 6, his playoff numbers so far are 16 and 4 assist, If Teague played aggressive and confident all times he would average 20 and 6 no problem.

No he’s not a pure PG and maybe he doesn’t make others around him better but an assist is an assist and he could get 6 in a game with 20 points on a nightly basis, if his confidence was always high.

Teague isn’t a first option PG, he can be very effective asserting himself on offense in Atlanta because he isn’t the main focus of the oppositions defense.  He needs Johnson and Smith to spread the floor for him to attack.

The only team he could drop 20+ ppg for would be a losing team.  I don’t think Jeff Teague is going to be dropping 20 ppg and leading anyone to the playoffs.  They can key in on him without more offensive weapons.  Jeremy Lin had a great run scoring 20 + ppg, but when teams adjusted…his production fell.  Same thing would happen to Teague in that kind of role.

He was a big time scorer more than he was a PG in college, it’s not that he can’t score, I just think that he isn’t a true #1 option in the NBA.

    I think different Joe.

While you made some good points, I think Teague could average 20 on the current Hawks team right now.

He shot 40% from 3 his Freshman year at Wake and 45% his Sophomore year, and was at 55% at one point that 08-09 year.

You don’t go from that to shooting 32% on 2 attempts without losing a ton of confidence, I just dont agree, I don’t think Teague has that same confidence he had at Wake, if he did we would see what we saw in game 3 against the Celtics on a nightly basis.

He is inconsistent somewhat, I will agree that was somewhat already established thanks to his meltdown at Wake the 2nd half of the season where he went from a top 5 pick to possibly 2nd rounder.

But he has all the tools and talent and potential to average those type numbers, he wasn’t considered a top 5 pick at one point in his college career for no reason.

Teague with another 16pts and 5 assists under pressure. He is a good 4th option on this team. He is currently in the league and helping a playoff team win. So, I don’t get the point of thinking about anything else. I continue to say Harrison Barnes would be a great 4th or 5th option on a winning team but if you wan’t him to be a focal point he will look like a bust. The best thing that happened to Jeff was leaving early in a PG loaded draft and gettting picked to a winning team that really does not need as much as some think.
