ZachAttackParticipantSo, I’ve heard that the Jazz are pursuing a PG right now. Garrett Temple is on their radar. I don’t know why they don’t just sign Bryce Cotton. They already have 2 other PG’s in Burke and Neto. I understand that they want a defensive minded player and those 3 guys are all small. But if coach Snyder really wanted to, he could turn those guys into defensive guys. I know that it was just SL and all, but Bryce Cotton looked really good. I would really like to see him in a Jazz uniform next season. What do you all think?

Rip255Im a Jazz fan..and I just cant get hypped for Neto or Cotton.
Burkes already a question mark.
They have 15m to spend for a 2 year rental

Rip255In calling out European Baller for a scouting report on neto.
His anti-american tirades are the only source I trust for Euro prospects.

ZouldiersParticipantI was impressed by his play in SL. he just keeps competing. I watched the Heat-Jazz SL and Cotton just kept coming at us and he kept the game close. I don’t mind seeing him in a Jazz uniform especially now that Exum tore his ACL so they really need a PG.

OhCanada-ParticipantI think if he gets an opportunity he will succeed. There’s alot of players at the PG position that aren’t getting playing time that could probably start with a bit of development. Some other guys I think would do well are Trae Golden, Ish Smith, Malik Waayns, Semaj Christon

mgreener_34ParticipantI think it would be a terrible idea for the JAzz to look for another young and unproven PG to man their team. They are no longer looking to rebuild, but are focusing on progression and winning. Getting a guy like Cotton or Ish Smith isn’t going to help them in this regard as that player is going to have no continuity with the team moving forward, and the team is already young as it is.
I think it’s in their best intereset to see what veteran PG is available, and hope that they can play the Kendrick Perkins roll for them in that they aren’t the greatest player in the world, but brings leadership that will help the young guns learn how to win. I think Jarret Jack would be absolutely perfect for the Jazz, and they should look at getting a player like that. Other guys that fall under that category would be Calderon (who they 100% could get, probably even for a 2nd rounder only), Mario Chalmers, or even someone like Pablo Prigioni would be a good guy to come in and give you 15 minutes a night and set the tome.
There has been a lot of talk about Evan Turner and the Jazz but I don’t like that move one bit, and think that should be squashed. He played a decent PG for the Celtics last year, but he’s not the answer for this JAzz team. I also have concerns about Trey Burkes. I don’t think he’s all that great right now, and would absolutely hate to see him start the year at PG for the Jazz. He’s a me first type of player, and takes some terrible shots. The Jazz need a PG who can shoot the 3 ball, and get others involved. I’m sure they can find someone.

ZachAttackParticipantI’m not saying someone to start, I think it’s safe to assume that Burke will get the start. But they are going to need someone to be the bench PG and that’s why I don’t like them going after Temple when they’ve got Neto and possibly Cotton.

Mr. HookShotParticipantThey also have Alec Burks, who is a solid ball handler at the 2 position, and Hayward, who also can create things. They just need a solid defender and shooter as their third string PG, someone they can bring in to shoot 3s and defend a quick PG.

GBeeParticipantI expect them to run a lot of Burks/Hayward/Hood lineups out there. Given their offense, they don’t really need a traditional point since they run a motion-heavy offense with multiple ball-handlers who initiate from different spots on the floor. All Exum did last year offensively was bring the ball up. I’m sure any of the aforementioned wings can handle that. Burks just has to step his game up defensively to defend opposing points. He has the athleticism to do so, but he’s not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. He’s also never been a good defender at any point of his career. If they still believe that Exum is a PG going forward, there’s no reason to invest in something long-term. They just need a stopgap, which could already be on their roster.

lakreParticipantMaybe they can go fishing overseas and target Marcelinho Huertas (who is said to be seeking an NBA contract). He is a proven 1st level PG in the world and could form a samba combo at PG with Raul Neto, while mentoring him (something similar to what Utah just did this season signing Joe Ingles to pair him with Dante Exum).

jcotingParticipantKendall Marshall would be a great pickup. Solid pass first point guard that can help out Gordon Hayward in the backcourt and run the P&R with Favors/Gobert.

Bencelticsfan2346ParticipantKendall Marshall would be a great pick up a couple of years ago he had what seemed like a breakout year with the Lakers he’s somewhat of a passing savant
I also think its interesting three of the first five picks have already experienced season ending injuries and Aaron Gordon had a fairly bad foot injury and missed 32 games.
Embiid has the foot Parker has the knee.
randle broke his leg 15 minutes into his first game. vonleh had one nasty sports hernia and he missed the beginning of the year and didn’t get a great start after because of it. if you wanna stretch it to pick 11 McDermott never got much PT because of a knee injury and thibs prejudice against rookies. 7 of the top 11 rookies from last year have already experienced pretty severe injuries.
I think Bryce cotton is the best choice he’s already locked up for less than a million next year and if they’re lucky they may end up with an undrafted gem. I’m bummed that we don’t get to see Exum this year I just hope it doesn’t hurt him too much in the long run. I also remembered some punctuation today!!!!

DolanCareParticipantBryce Cotton does a lot of the same things as Trey Burke, but for cheaper. If I were the Jazz I’d give Alec Burks an honest try at the point. In my mind, Trey Burke is someone that shouldn’t be looked at as the future of the organization.

T RexI was saying before the draft that Utah should draft a real point guard, even though they tried to fill that position in the two previous drafts with Exum and Burke.
Terry Rozier will eventually be understood to be the should-have-been pick instead of Trey Lyles in this year’s draft.
But Delon Wright would have been a solid pick as well.
Grant would have been solid, but his defense against smaller point guards wouldn’t have been much better than Exum’s.
