Hey, what do you guys think about Jared Sullinger as a player? Even though he’s a bit short and isn’t the most athletic, do you guys like his overall game? And if so, explain…

When did 6’9" in shoes become short for a power forward.  Also i think they said he is more athletic than Kevin Love who is of similiar size and playing well.

I don’t think he is athletic as Love when it comes to running and jumping, but his I.Q. and well-rounded abilites for a bigman are what I think what makes Love the easiest player to compare him to, though. His strength, wide body and overall basketball ability easily compensate for him being supposedly "undersized."

Offensively he should be fine, but it’s his defense that has some concerns. I think he needs to shed some LBS, get in better conditioning to improve his quickness to keep up with quick/athletic PFs in the league. I think going down to 260lbs could really benefit his game.

that’s what i was tryin to explain to someone the other day but they were sayin he’s fine where he’s at…..he’ll only be better if he drops some weight…..he’ll need that extra quickness and bounce on defense in the nba, unless he wants to have a micheal sweetney, sean may career.

I think his absolute best case scenario is Kevin Love.

I personally see him being a Paul Millsap type of player in the NBA, a solid rotational PF but never a foundational piece. I think he’ll be a key cog on a good team, but he is going to struggle with the mobile PF’s of todays NBA game (Aldridge, Gasol, Boozer).

He’s quicker and more athletic than kevin love, i think he’s going to be alright in NBA,with the sucess of milsap landry and big baby..and he’s better than those

Milsap could start for a lot of teams and Sulinger is taller than Milsap.  Also Sullinger does need to lose some of that weight.  Brand got pretty small compare to his college days to play faster in the NBA.

I just watched old footage of Barnes with sullinger and Knight.  There is no way Sullinger is 6’7"  You can tell the height different between him and Barnes.  That being said sometimes Barnes does not stand up straight but he dwarfed Knight who is a least 6’2".

What do you guys think about Dejuan Blair as a comparison? Blair, along with knee injuries, was said to be "too small in height" and he is pretty good now. I see a lot of similarities in these two. They both go hard for rebounds, rely on good offensive postion, and pass well.

I don’t see how Love is more athletic. Even when i watched Love in college i never seen him dunk on people off the vert or running. Sullinger has put it on some big men heads this year which surprised some but i wasn’t surprised because i’ve always said he’s more athletic then people give him credit for. Also even though he has weight on him he seems to outlast other bigs as the game wears on, getting up and down the court, most of which has to do with how much energy it takes to bang with him for 35-40 min a game
