After a shaky start of the season, Murray has been outstanding. He’s gone for over 20 in his last 12 games while shooting a great percentages and limitng turnovers.  I’m still not sure what position he’ll be at the next level but I’m not sure it will matter. He showed that he can play PG at every event prior to this season and he has excelled while playing exclusively at SG this year for Kentucky. How far do you guys think he can rise on draft night? I think he should be in the mix as early as the 2nd pick. He’s not an outstanding prospect from a physical standpoint but his production at every level can’t be questioned.

The Brandon Roy comparisons are real. At first I saw it a little bit but thought it was a bit of a stretch. Now when I see him I see how he can rise up on you at any time from any angle and knock down a shot. It’s the ability to make seemingly difficult shots that make great scorers, great scorers. This guy is a difficult shot maker and he can get all the way to the basket and make difficult shots. His body control is surprisingly good and he plays thru contact. I like his composure too. He’s a whole lot like Brandon Roy who when he was dialed in could dominate a game by himself. I don’t know if he will go second, but it’s not crazy to think about it.

He’s unselfish….. Mature…… Leadership traits……. does Not need to be ball Dominant….. he can Fill it up from deep…….. He attacks the basket w/ strength…… & he gets teammates involved w/ ball movement & he dishes off the dribble drive…… so he can play either PG or SG……

His game is tailor made for the evolving NBA where defense is less physical than in years past…… & the ability to shoot from outside is a must…….

From a GM’s POV – I just don’t think you could take Murray over Ingram b/c of Ingram’s crazy potential….. but depending on who picks 3, 4 & 5 ………… I could Def see Murray going Very early…..

He’s probably going to end up the best player of this draft and for that reason he should be considered with the 1st pick if the team selecting needs a gaurd.

If you look back in almost every draft the top player or a few of the top players is a gaurd with similar strengths and weaknesses/perceptions  and were underrated with the exception of Anthony Davis (arguments could be made in Lilliards favor) and Kawhi Leonard. 2011 and 2010 don’t really count because Wall and Irving were drafted 1st overall.

    2013-CJ Mccollum-10th overall

    2012-Damian Lilliard-6th overall

    2011-Brandon Knight-8th overall, Kemba Walker-9th overall, Klay Thompson-11th overall.

    2009-James Harden-3rd overall, Stephen Curry-7th overall

The one this years draft reminds me if is 2009. Now I know this is a very contreversal topic that many people will have different opinions. I also know Blake Griffin is amazing and a top 10 player but hindsight being 50-50 if you had a choice to build around Blake Griffin or Harden, or Blake Griffin or Curry I take the gaurds every time. The versatile and athletic PF is a great piece and extremely entertaining I just think you need an elite gaurd to win and without it your team goes nowhere. Griffin didn’t start winning until Paul showed up. Since Griffin has been out this year Paul and the Clippers have been winning at as high a percentage as any Griffin roster.

Look at Sacramento and Cousins, New Orleans and Davis, Utah and there dominant frontcourt, Brooklyn and Lopez, the Knicks with Melo and Porzingis. You don’t win in this league unless you have top of the line gaurds that can score and space the floor. That’s why the Boston Celtics are able to compete for a home seed.

Now if its the Lakers picking 1st or 2nd by no means should they consider passing on Simmons or Ingram for Murray. Neither should Boston or Phoenix because those teams have competitive gaurd play. But a team like Philadelphia, New Orleans, or Sacramento should definitely look at how the league is trending and consider it.

I agree with ur Murray hype. #2 for me. Will find plenty of ways to score in the NBA.  He just knows how to fill it up.

Its like Brandon Ingram is covered in non-stick oil, cos no-one on here is prepared to point out flaws in his game. Everyone on here is quick on the trigger when it comes to Murray, Simmons, Hield etc.

Brandon Ingram had been inefficient for a while now…could be time to bump him down a couple of spots.

I hope he falls to the TWolves, he would be an ideal fit for the team and their future.

Murray’s position is not in question hes a pure SG whose able to run a PnR but should never be the primary ball handler.  He didnt take off at Kentucky til Cal took the ball out his hands and gave Ulis the complete keys.

So I wouldnt compare him to Roy hes more Klay Thompson or Mitch Richmond.

But Murrays the guy the Sixers absolutely need to leave the draft with.  Him or Ingram. regardless of what they do wit Okafor and Embiid they need that floor spacer and Murray would be dangerous in a 2 man game with either one

He is a spot up shooter at the next level. Athleticism is suspect. So is his defense. Not close to Klay Thompson’s level. I have been getting killed all year for this but the second I saw his highlights i knew he was being over rated. He will not be able to beat guys off the dribble. He will not be able lock down another teams wing so how can you take him before Kris Dunn. If you are going to neg me then just explain to me how his skills will translate at the next level, aside from his shooting.  If you can’t score in more than one way then you are JJ Reddick, not the first or second pick in the draft.

But that is what scouts said about Devin Booker. Now look at him the house of the rising Sun. Playmaker, gets to the hoop at will, besides his great outside stroke.

Yeah Klays defense is obviously at a much higher level then Murrays may ever be but coming out of college his defense and quickness were in question.   Murrays already a better PnR ball handler and has more slashing potential with his craftiness finishing in traffic

If Jamal Murray can get to the line at will in the NBA, I will eat my orange hat

For the most part I agree with opinion on Murray but for me he passes the eye test and just has that "it" factor. That’s why he was so successful in international play and now at UK.

Murray is not a PG and he won’t make a living beating people off the dribble but he’s crafty, a willing and able passer and he’s a shot maker. He’s the guy that gains a half step off a screen and exploits it the fullest. The guy you keep in front of you, had your hands up and he just makes the difficult shot anyway.

Now top 2 pick is too high but he’s top ten easily. #5 is the highest I could see him getting picked and after #8 your crazy not to pick him.
