I didn't see any San Diego State games this season. What are your thoughts on him ?
I saw a good amount of Jamaal this past year and he certainly is a big athletic 2 guard who plays great defense. He does seem to have a "Winner" mentality and he always had the ball in his hands on the last possessions. He found a way to get wins late in games as I'm pretty sure he had a late three for a buzzer beater and the unlv game was insane. He earned that first win and as a whole really made their team seem a lot better than it actually was. State will be very good I think this next year but Jamaal needs to work on his jump shot and handles a bit maybe if he wants to take his game to the next level. Of course, I am biased being from San Diego but he has a chance if he works.
He chipped his tooth on the rim dunking the ball. He's a freak athlete first and foremost, but he still needs some polishing. I wish SDSU got some more air time though so I could see the kid play more, because I don't know a whole lot about him.
He is a freak athlete and that's what most of his game is based off of.....
BUT I do think it's safe to say he is working on his skills.
He only averaged 2.9 PPG in 22 minuters per his freshman year, and averaged 17.6 PPG and 8 boards in 32 minutes per this year.
He's working, or so it seems.
He played the four most of the time for SDSU last year but with this year's addition of Winston Shepard he will probably look to move back to the perimeter. Good prospect on a great team
How is he looking now ? He is averaging 20ppg and 10.7 rebs (he is listed at 6"5)
His team is undefeated and have beaten USC and UCLA
He's so underrated and is similar to Marshon Brooks in this aspect that you got a athletic wing dominating college with all physical tools and a cutthroat game that will fall in the draft then to everybodies surprise have a solid rookie year. He dominated UCLAs wings in that victory which should not be overlooked this kid is big time. He came on my radar this summer after playing lights out in the drew league.
