Jamaal Crawford says he wants an Extension or a Trade

Atlanta guard Jamaal Crawford told Fanhouse..That he wants an extension or a trade..'I want the security of a long term deal'..The 11 year vet averaged 18 points last season and won the 6th man of the year award...the Hawks have until June 30 2011 to sign Crawford to an extension..Crawford's 10 million dollar contract expires at the end of next season and he won't have any troubles finding suitors...Crawford wants out sooner rather later if the Hawks don't see him in their long term plans.....

Atlanta also has to decide if they want to lock up Al Horford before the league's October 31st deadline for extending rookie contracts..

I said for a while that if

I said for a while that if Atlanta wanted to make a deal, Crawford ( not Marvin Williams) had the highest value.

I say, get a pick/player back and your all good.

He should know now that as

He should know now that as great as he was last year he is now expendable. Giving him an extension eliminates the possibility of resigning Horford which is a much more important decision for the future. While losing Crawford would be a big immediate hit Jordan Crawford is capable of taking his role in the future. Anyways he has no leverage. If he wants to walk next summer than let his 11 mil expire. Chances are Atlanta would give him the best offer anyways. I think it's selfish to come out and say it now, all it does is create a rift even though they have no obligation to trade him even if they don't want to extend him.

I knew that ATL would let him

I knew that ATL would let him walk or trade him when they drafted Jordan Crawford....They should see if they can get a C for him (I suck at trade ideas so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about with that draft idea lol)

trades that work

these are trades that work not saying make them but they work

1. Crawford for Okafor and a pick
1b. Belinelli and a pick and exception for Pekovic

Bibby/Teague - Johnson/Evans - Smith/free agent - Horford/Powell - Okafor/Zaza

Paul/Shakur - Crawford/Weems - Ariza/Pondexter - West/Brackins - Pekovic/Gray

2. Williams, Crawford trade exception and a pick for Gortat and Carter

Bibby/Teague - Carter/Evans - Johnson/Smith - Horford/Smith - Gortat/Zaza
(Smith goes into a Lamar Odom role)

Nelson/Williams - Crawford/Reddick - Pietrus/Williams - Lewis/Anderson - D12/Bass

I think Jamal Crawford is

I think Jamal Crawford is pretty delusional to think that any GM would offer him an extension @10mil a year right before a CBA that may potentially lower the cap and significantly reduce the salary while there's no guarantee that Jamal Crawford would be good enough to play to 10mil a year level.

Crawford is not really

Crawford is not really delusional because he has nothing to lose by asking for an extension or trade. It is not like this move decreases his value or if he would have kept quiet it would have increased it. It appears obvious that he is not really in the long term plans of Atlanta.

idea

crawford for varejao and parker: Cleveland can get a guy who can score and maybe win them some games... Atlanta gets a center to move over Horford and move Marvin to the bench. Williams and Parker would be the 6th and 7th men, which sounds good.

Well I guess Teague's stock

Well I guess Teague's stock just soared. Atlanta knows Crawford will not be with the team past this year so why give him valueable minutes?

Ya know, I think I am with

Ya know, I think I am with Crawford on this one. The guy isnt getting any younger and still wants that ring.. He has proved that he is willing to play off the bench and proved that he is very very good in that type of role.. He is like a dependable JR Smith... I would want that promise of money or I would want to have a chance to win a ring.. Because lets be honest, the Hawks hadgotten better for 2 or 3 years but in the past 2, they have just been fighting to stay where they are..

I would want to be traded to a team where my services are needed more than they are in Atlanta.. With or without Crawford, Atlanta is a 4-8 seed in the playoffs.. Thats just how it is.. Send this man to the Jazz, who need a punch off the bench, the Celtics, who are looking for another guard, the Bulls, who, like the Jazz, need a scoring punch, ect..

Give me freedom or give me the money...

Idea

I have No Idea about the Money on Either of these but what about

1. Jamal Crawford for Kendrick Perkins Celtics have one more year to compete, and while Perk Might be the better long term piece, Crawford is the better short term piece and Perkins has injury concerns anyways. They couldn't do it till Perkins gets healthy though, cant trade a guy with a Knee Injury.

2. Jamal Crawford for Memo Okur. Postions work. Crawford would start right away for Utah, Okur and Horford would make a good inside outside tandem, and Utah can give Fesenko some burn, which he proved he deserves.

Oh-Canda to your comment that

Oh-Canda to your comment that why would they play Crawford when he's expiring and why not play Teague, last time I checked the Hawks aren't in rebuilding. They just signed JJ to a massive contract and have their perennial playoff team in tact for the past 4 years. Unless they plan on not even being a top 5 seed it would be dumb to keep the best 6th man in the NBA on the bench to "develop" someone. Anyways Teague is fighting Bibby for minutes. Crawford will still be the PG at the end of games because of his ability to close. The Hawks can still be a top 4 seed but to do so they can not compromise in anyway by trying to build the future. You can build the young guys in garbage duty, not in big game situations.

Its either re-sign Crawford

Its either re-sign Crawford or star or start developing Teague who has a chace to be the better PG for that system in the long run anyways.Keeping an upset PG is not going to help the Hawks win anything.
