I read a comment on a earlier post in which someone stated that Jahlil Okafor was a skilled player but not as good as Demarcus cousins when he was at Kentucky. I completely disagree. I feel that jahlil is not just a more skilled player but is a more athletic and better defensive player than Demarcus was. And I know cousins has post moves but I don’t remember him being as willing a passer as jahlil has shown. I know we are only 2 games into the season but I see special things for duke and this kid. If there is a better big man in the country show me

More skilled? Maybe. More athletic? That’s a joke.

Wow yeah he is not as skilled or as athletic as Cousins. Cousins had an better face up game in college that Okafor has now and athletic Cousins is an 7 while Okafor is like an 6. There’s an reason Cousins averaged 15 and 10 in 22 minutes as an freshman

Cousins may be the naturally strongest player in the NBA. I can’t think of any I would classify as stronger.

I love when Cousins does those Carmelo style dunks where he is barely off the ground and doesn’t touch the rim just sort of throws it in.

I think they are different players and I hope Okafor develops into a smaller Marc Gasol with Al Jefferson like primacy.

Atlethisim isn’t just jumping if you watch the way cousins moves his feet on defense and how he takes his man off the dribble due to his quick feet not many guys his size can move like that

I think Okafor may be better sooner than Cousins because he seems to play within his means a little more than a young Cousins and has simpler footwork in the post (which is generally a good thing).  But Cousins is quicker with more perimeter skills, so Okafor may not ever be as dominant as Cousins is now.  Now that Cousins is both insanely productive and efficient, he is tough to stop.  Okafor will have an easier time matching Cousins’ efficiency than his production.

Both are equally skilled. Jahlil Okafor has a very underrated face up game but doesn’t have Cousins handle. Okafor has a slightly better array of moves in the post. So offensive skill-wise its even. Cousins is a better athlete. Foot work and speed is even, size and length is even but Cousins has a little more bounce and explosiveness.
