I constantly hear Jared Sullinger and Al Jefferson as comparisons. I also see he is mocked as the #2 pick in 2015 behind Mudiay.

I think everyone needs to really look at the mixtapes on this site and reassess his game.

By no means is he an elite leaper, but he is extremely nimble and fluid. He is an average leaper, but when ur 6’11" thats all you need to be. His post moves are the crispest ive seen in 15 years. Hes nowhere near as flabby as Sully/Jefferson and has a nice handle and court vision.

Okafor is the next Tim Duncan. I know Embiid got that comparison, but he is further away than Okafor is skillwise. Okafor would school NBA big men today with his post moves. Hes an all star level big from day one in the league, and with the right coach will be housting championship trophies over his head.

I dont have to. Im basing my comparison on their skill sets. If youre scared to make comps because you think people will clown u then thats ur sack that needs growing, not mine.

First off, you should never assess someone’s game off of a highlight film.. That’s rule one.

second off. I don’t really like the Timmy comp… Different players although Okafor is super skilled. I really just think he’s a bigger Sullinger… Think about that for a second.. Jared woulda been a top 5 pick if he came out earlier and didn’t have injury concerns.. Okafor is a bigger and in my opinion (going to be) better player. That’s scary

I love Jahlil Okafor games and most people not because he’s not Andre Drummond athletic. Big man don’t need to be athletic. His latest measurements have him at 7′ 275 pounds. He’s not fat either. He’s very well built all around. I say he’s Al Jefferson but have better defense than Al Jefferson. So i will say he’s Al Jefferson offensively and Emeka Okafor defensively. I believe he have a solid ceiling and a high floor and he fits better in the NBA than in college because the NBA has more spacing. I don’t think he’s the prospect Joel Embiid is because Joel Embiid is extremely raw mix with the fact he got great touch, footwork, and got range out to the three point line. I feel this class is a two man race in Emmanuel Mudiay and Jahlil Okafor. And probably he’s going to be the number one pick because Mudiay playing in China will hurt his stock a little by falling one spot. But one thing I notice is that the big man is slowly coming back from DeMarcus Cousins, Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor, Jonas Val. and plenty more young talent.

I can’t believe you really believe he has better post moves then Al Jefferson.

My opinoin Big Al has better post moves then Duncan. But lacks his size and defense.

Sully and Jefferson aren’t flabby. Well at least havent been since being in the NBA now. They are just built with big behinds.

To me, he is a bigger Al Jefferson with better hands. Al Jefferson is an all star and I think Okafor is better than him so he has a really high ceiling. I don’t put him in Embiid’s or Duncan’s class because I haven’t seen the defensive end of the game at the same level.

He is closer to Demarcus Cousins than he is to Duncan, but he doesn’t have the Cousins knucklehead syndrome.

As as a Sixers fan, and despite the fact that we took Noel and a Embiid in the last two drafts, I would take Okafor with the number 1 pick next year and then sort out the fit later.

I have never seen okafor play but from hearing what you guys are saying and the way you are describing him. A good comparison seems to be a better rebounding brook lopez.

to me the player he resembles to most is marc gasol.

is true he also does look like sullinger but there’s a problem and that is height. sully is 6’9 and okafor 6’11 and there’s a big difference the way they affect the game in both ends, that’s why i think the best comparison for okafor is marc gasol.

Okafor is an old school back to the basket player..In this day and age of seeing 7 footers constantly hanging out on the perimeter, its great to see youngsters coming in that play the way bigs are suppose to play…

Okafor could start right now for many nba teams,he rebounds, has a variety of post moves, blocks shots and he can step out and hit mid-range shots..He’s good at alot of things, but doesnt stand out in anything..Okafor isnt as good of a defender or have the basketball iq of Duncan..He reminds me alot of Bill Cartwright who was also a skilled low post scoring big..Cartwright might’ve had a more prestigious career if he hadnt sustained so many foot injuries early in his career…..

Jefferson was 6’9” 263 when he got into the league. He grew another inch, but also added almost 30 pounds.

Okafor is already 7’0 tall, which is crazy when you think about it. I wish I knew more information about bone plate growth, and I wish they released those records. It would be crazy if he was still growing.

Since there are so few true low post players in the NBA, we are left with only a few comparisons (Zack Randolph, Al Jefferson, Timmy, Drummond, Nene, Howard, Jordan, Pekovic, Cousins). My eye test says that his body type is the type that adds weight easily. He’s not the athlete that Howard, Jordan, or Drummond are. He is more athletic than Pekovice and Randolph. I won’t compare him to Timmy. That basically leaves Nene, Cousins, and Jefferson, all of whom have had weight issues.

I like the Jefferson comparison because of body types and pretty hook shots, but the Nene comparison may be a little better. I don’t think Okafor has the quickness or agility of Cousins, which is ok, because Cousins is one of only a few players who are that big and have that kind of nimbleness. Okafor can shoot a bit outside, like Nene. Nene is also a good athlete with great length. If Okafor toned up and and stayed in shape, I think he could be like Nene, playing from the high post or low post. If he got out of shape and flabby, which is a possibility with his body type, he will probably have to stay in the low post like Jefferson.

Either way, his future is bright. Maybe a 1/3 of the teams in the NBA have a true low post scorer. Any coach who gets him automatically gets a wide open playbook. Okafor will get buckets, demand double teams, and create easy shots for teammates.

Gotchya. I heard he was 7 foot, but didn’t verify it. He is 6’11” though, unless he is planning to play barefoot.

he hasn’t shown elite rebounding skills or any kind of defensive ability.

we have to wonder is he dominating on sheer size.

yes he has moves but he also out powers everybody we have to see him at the ncaa level.

He has enough size and strength that he should be able to over power most centers in the NBA too.

Plus what really sticks out about him to me are his fluid post moves and his fantastic hands. He will be a dominate post scorer and rebounder in the NBA. I think that he is slow of foot enough though to only be able to play the center position, at least on D, and despite his length, he probably isn’t going to block a lot of shots. He doesn’t get off the floor very well.

He has hands like Chris Webber, and the body of Demarcus Cousins.

Okafor’s post moves and general footwork are much more similar to Duncan’s than Jefferson’s in my opinion.  He is bigger, but less athletic than a young Duncan.
