Anton123ParticipantIvan Rabb has had an absolutely horrible end to the season, the past 5 games (which were the most important games of the season) he has averaged 10,8 ppg on 32% from the field while not contributing much in other areas. Really didn’t step up (unlike Jabari Bird, who, sadly, couldn’t play against Oregon) when he was needed most.
With how many good PF/Cs this draft has, he might’ve played himself out of the top 20. I really like Rabb, but I think his appeal would be a lot higher as an NBA-ready player that can contribute on his rookie contract.
Next year’s team will not be great, but it will have Charlie Moore and Marcus Lee. If Ivan Rabb can emerge as a true leader and show his improved scoring, I think he can play his way back into the lottery.
What do you guys think?

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantHe was a lottery pick last year. I am not sure why he came back. They have a good freshman pg. Not sure about his finicial situation. He is a double double machine on the college level. I’m pretty confident calwill make the tournament so he can still prove something. But as a fan of college ball and more specifically a PAC 12 junky..I’d like to see him come back.

r377ParticipantThis season both Rabb and Thomas Bryant have not performed very well.
Whether Rabb went last year or this year, he is going to end up in the d-league. He might be able to make it as a 8 or 9th player but I just cannot see him being an NBA starter….

Anton123ParticipantWhat is your opinion on both guys as prospects? Do you see them as d-league players right now or for their careers?

r377ParticipantThomas Bryant has a nice jump shot but is pretty bad. Reminds me a bit of Arnett Moultrie. I think Thomas Bryant may not even get drafted. I dont’ think he plays in the NBA at all. He runs funny, reminds me of the mummy zombie from scooby doo
Rabb has a better chance of making it than Bryant but will be d-league most of his rookie season. He might be able to make it as an 8th of 9th man but I can’t see him being an NBA starter….

str8upParticipantBryant lost some weight this offseason in order to play on the perimeter more, I didn’t really like that move too much. I think it contributed some to his decline offensively.

Anton123ParticipantI tend to disagree with the "should’ve left last year" argument. I mean, I agree that getting drafted higher and getting more money is good, but had he left last year, he would’ve probably been seen as a bust by his second year. Instead he has a chance to get better in college and get a very good deal once his rookie contract is up.
Guys like Tyler Ennis and Tyus Jones left early when their stock was highest and got a first-round contract, but there’s a chance they would’ve liked to get more NBA-ready first in hindsight. Sometimes teams aren’t ready to be patient with players and other teams are not eager to give young unproven guys chances.
I think players’ ultimate goal should be to get a good second contract and not be drafted high as soon as possible.

HitsterParticipantIvan would have surely gone within the top 20 if he had declared last year IMO. Staying another year in what wasn’t a hugely deep frontcourt draft I thought he had the chance to establish himself as a legit top 10 pick who was NBA ready. But if anything his stock has fallen and staying another year risks falling further as much as improving his stock again.
He’s only just turned 20 so wouldn’t be hugely elder than other declarees if he stayed another year. Next year the top of the draft looks more frontcourt depth but middle area may not be as deep as this year’s regarding frontcourters.
Ivan must be in a fairly goiod financial situation if he decided to go back to college this season and turn down a likely salary of well over $1 million for this season and a guaranteed 2 year salary of say $2.5 million in total.

r377ParticipantOh Canada – I have read that the Raps might take him late in the first round

binetParticipantThe longer he stays the more he falls I think.
Right now I would be surprised if he ends up in the first round, but he should get drafted early second.
If he waits even more he will probably fall even more the draft boards, and could end up undrafted.
