Is it unanimous everyone would take Rubio over Jennings?

I have not seen much of either player. I look at their euro numbers based on minutes it looks like they are almost even, with Jennings being the better scorer. Rubio average an assit more than Brandon. I need to see more of them to decide. I am leaning towards Jennings because i like athleticsm at the point guard spot. Guys who get in the lane brake down defenses. I did like what i saw from rubio on tape though. He looks like a good creator who will flourish with better talent around him possibly. Going against Chris Paul or D-will though i feel you need more quickness. I hear Rubio is good on D, but cp3,d-will,billups,rondo,D rose are in the NBA. How do you see it?

no I would not

I think that rubio would get drafted before jennings but i would not do it i feel that jennings will be a good pro especially if he goes to the right team. Also Rubio contract can play a big part in where he gets drafted.

I think jennings will be

I think jennings will be more of an impact, just off with his speed and athletic ability alone. then once he starts to learn the game and becomes a smarter player i think you'll see him start to pan out. as it was said there numbers are pretty much the same but when your a young player about to get drafted, what they did before they got to this point as we all know means nothing. but i like B.jennings game

Neither one would be a bad

Neither one would be a bad pick up but I just feel like Rubio has a Higher game IQ so it will depend on what kind of point guard the teams needs.

Anyways...

Do you guys not see a potential problem with Jennings and his ability to run a team? I mean he couldn't even achieve a high enough score on the SAT to play D1. I realize intelligence and BBALL IQ are different, but I can see how intelligence could affect the other. Just curious...

Was someone talking to me

Was someone talking to me about my comments. I am not saying Jennings is stupid. Wow people get sensitive all of a sudden. All i said was Rubio has a higher basketball IQ from what I have seen. I am saying this as far as running a team offensively. Jennings still has a little bit more to learn in that area because I did not see it when watching clips of him in Europe. I do know he has play making skills though.

Rubio

I saw Ricky since He was 14 Years Old (I am from Spain) and I See BJ since he was a sophomore on High School....

There is no possible comparision right now, Ricky is way better player he can win an euroleague game by himself, he is one of the best Pgs in europe, he is playing pro since 14 years old, fighting with guys who plays NBA right now, he change a whole game in olympics without scoring a point, thats what make ricky special.

He doesnt need to score, he defends, he upset the other teams PG, he can dribble over everybody, he only needs outside shoot and some muscle, but right now he is probably the best PG you ever saw at his age, but his potential is limited (better rajon rondo will be his closest scenario, walt frazier style).

BJ, is the typical streetballer, fast, good dribble, athletic....but needs experience and basketball IQ, his outside shoot is irregular, he need to lear slow tempo basketball and half court basketball, is a bomb in a fast tempo style, but ricky show him that he is Best playing against him with just one hand

Does he have Rondos athleticsm though?

I cant tell. Rondo dunks on people often. I have not seen Rubio, does he play like that? Do you think he will get triple doubles often like Rondo? I dont know.

triple doubles??

On World Champs under 16 (with 15) Rubio do a lot of Triple Doubles and a Quadruple Double, but not 20-10-10 stats, 40-20-15 thats what he use to do.

Rubio is way better passer than rondo, as good or better stealing, more basketball IQ, knows how to play any type of basketball.

He wont be able to dunk on people (I dont care, is nothing important on a PG, stockton, magic, robertson, cousy, archibald, frazier....) but he has the talent to be special in the way Nash, Stockton did, wont be MVP but he can lead a team to the ring, thats soomething Jennings never will.

I like rondo so much, but he doesnt have the potential Ricky has, at worst Ricky became a Rondo stats type of guy, at best he will be champion (maybe not just once) Ricky will never average 20points, maybe 15 is too much, but he will assist like the best, he will steal balls and the most important thing, he will make his teamates better than they are.

Jennings all around game?

I haven't seen much of Jennings other then highlights, he reminds me a lot of Sebastian Telfair, very quick, great passer, has everything you need to be elite (as far as potential) but it doesn't always turn out that way.
I watched Rubio in the Olympics and thought he looked great, for being only 17. Very similiar game to Nash, high IQ see's plays before they develop, with a consistent jump shot he's an all star in under 3 years in the league.

I cant compare telfair to a serious leaper like Jennings

I think Rubio will be a hell of a point guard, but Jennings aint no Telfair. I have never seen Telfair dunk before. If he could jump like Jennings he could finish in the paint better. Jennings got hops and athletic ability Telfair never had.

What are you talking about, how at worst is he comparable to Rondo? That seems like a beyond safe pick to me. Rondo has crazy quicks & crazy long arms that help him tremendously, advantages Rubio doesn't. It's just crazy how so many people are so confident in guys who play a different style in a different country.

Rubio has 6-9 wingspan, and

Rubio has 6-9 wingspan, and a mad dribbling (hes not that quick but he makes anything that a fast player can do but with pure talent and skills)

He might get triple doubles but as often as Rondo?

I seen some tape recently on Rubio and I liked what I saw. I did not see the triple double potential with regularity like Rondo. I dont care what he did in whatever league, we are talking the NBA. He will not be getting quadruple doubles against that talent. Rondo makes every Celtic look better than they are trust that. He is the key to that team.

Rondo did 4-5 Triple Doubles

Rondo did 4-5 Triple Doubles in 3 years, I dont call that "doing TD regularly".

In NBA PGs have more freedom, more space to create, can make more mistakes than in euro basketball (ask Jennings about that) there are less assist in europe because only is an assist a direct pass not like NBA.

Rubio wont rebound as well as rondo (he is graving a lot because KG is out), but he is better passer, so he maybe wont be able to make triple doubles so often, I dont care about that, what im triying to say is that Ricky is better PG for any team and if you gave him the freedom pgs have in NBA you will see a special player (he has to adapt his game to NBA, but with some time you will see why Im so high on him, remember he is so young, so he needs time to get used to a more athletic game)

He averaged it for the 1st 6 games of this series

He averaged it for the 1st 6 games of this series. He flirted with them all season but they were up and Doc did not play him more. I am sure he wil get use to a more athletic game, and at his age he will get better. What if he struggles going against that level of athlete night in and night out.

I am glad I Don't have to make that desicion

After how he played in the Olympics, it is really difficult for me to say anything negative against this kid. I wonder how Jennings would play on such a grand stage against the likes of Kidd, Paul, and Williams? You make a great point though, can he play at that level for +82 games? And can he surpass the stigma of all the other Spanish points (calderon, Rodriguez) and actually play some defense? Of course being named defensive player of the year will help with that cause: http://www.marca.com/2009/03/03/baloncesto/acb/1236104096.html

Really, actually i don't

Really, actually i don't think BJ is a ponit guard. Quick, strong, eeven too impredictable, but he can't see wht happens in the floor. Seems like he plays another game. Rubio maybe is not half the athlete Bj is, but reminds me John Stockton every game more.

follow, I didn't realize 6'1 170 is good size for a point. Is 6'1 even average for starting points in the league?

it is a really good

it is a really good question. i thin that if they both reach their potential rubio will be a better player. but i think jennings could be a better individual player. it is similar to the argument on "the top 10 players of the last decade." the argument that billups was more successful on his teams than iverson but iverson was a better player. I think they are very close in talent but i think gm's do value high basketball IQ's in pg's more than athleticism in pg's. Just look at the athletic point guards in the league allen iverson, baron davis, steve francis. they all had very good years but very little playoff success. look at high IQ pg's steve nash, chauncey billups, and cp3 their teams have all made playoff pushes at some point. But like I said they are very close.

Rubio can contribute right

Rubio can contribute right away with all his experience. Jennings has already shown that he has difficulties in adapting to a new system at a high level. However Jennings has the physical tools so he definitely has the better upside. Similar to the Howard, Okafor talks. It worked out for Orlando.

anyone who goes from playing

anyone who goes from playing in the usa to playing over in europe has trouble with the new system..my first 2 years in europe was tough its awhole differnt game over there just like when rubio gets over here he will have trouble with how different the game is and esspecially how faster stronger and more athletic the guards are...and even though this was jennings first year over there and rubio has played there all his life there stats werent that different..rubio averaged 2 more ast and 2 more points a game

based on the mock

based on the mock draft, i think rubio would be locked as one of the top 2 picks. i don't think rubio would be able to contribute right away. okay, he was impressive in the Olympics and he held his own against the likes of cp3 but he's not used to playing in the nba level and he's not playing big minutes in europe. it'll proly take him a year before he really contributes. steve nash and jose calderon took 2-3 years to start (okay, nash was behind some greats but still).

jennings on the other hand can contribute right away imo. he's athletic and he can score. he knows how to play in the US.
