RUDEBOY_ParticipantSmith is making the most of replacing injured guards Brooks & Lowry..Smith lead the Rockets to their 1st win of the season as a replacement starter..
He went from undrafted to surprise late roster addition to starting point guard..Brooks went down in a game against the Spurs with a sprained ankle ,backup guard Kyle Lowry was already sidelined with a sprained back..Those injuries have given Smith a chance to show the Rockets coaching staff what he can do..Coach Alderman is praising his court vision, passing skills and how he stays in front of his man..
I was really surprised to see Ishmeal Smith go undrafted this past summer..I felt he could be a solid backup for some team..He had great playmaking skills and the ability to get the ball to the right people at the right time..I saw the same thing in guard Steve Blake when he was at Maryland. My friends said Blake was too slow and wasnt strong enuff to ever play in the league..Now 7 years later Blake is still in the league..It seems Smith will be around for years to come..Even with the potential return of Lowry ..Smith should get meaningful minutes…Brooks isnt expected to return until mid december..
