Since Georgia Southern has been on Thanksgiving break I’ve been catching alot of the early college games during the lunch/afternoon part of the day.  Today I watched the Purdue vs K. State game and was expecting for Marcus Foster to dominate for K.State, which his has on both sides of the ball I might add, and AJ Hammonds to dominate, which he’s kind of been invisible during most of the game.

But he was also over shadowed by 7-2 freshman Isaac Haas. Haas has been great during this game with his hustle and intensity.  He has also showed the ability to create his own shot on the block with the hook shot and fadaway. At 7-2 he has great size for the center and is only going to get better.  I think Purdue has a steal with this kid and he can eventually be a 1st round pick.  Has anyone else seen this guy?

Yeah this kid is gunna be good.. I remember just seeing the box score after the first game and thinking Hammons got hurt or sumthin. But Ive watched since then and will continue to keep a close eye on this situation. Hammons has the tools but lacks the IQ and mental attitude and I wouldnt be surprised to see Haas continue to eat into his minutes throughout the season. Not sure at this point how well he projects as an NBA player but he looks to me like a really solid 4 year college player.

This was the first I saw of him, and I came away impressed. He has great footwork, and is surprisingly agile for his size. His body type reminded me quite a bit of a slightly smaller Yao, with a strong lower body, big feet and and good mobility. He supposedly has a 7’5” wingspan and is a well built 300 pounds. Kid is freaking huge.

Love his use of the backboard, and he proved he could hit a free throw. I think Haas has a pretty bright future ahead of him. It was just one game, but he looked like the better post player this afternoon and not A.J. Hammons.
