Irving and Varejao with monster games in the season opener
NBA is back!
Kyrie Irving is a beast, 29 points. Varejão played very well too, 9 pts, 22 boards! and 9 assists.
Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters didn't look bad either.
This team has a very interesting young core and they should be contending for a playoff spot this season barring any injuries.
I hadn't watched too much of Kyrie up to this point, but he is definitely something special. Looked incredible out there.
I wouldn't say playoff just yet considering they were against the Wall-less Wizards, but they definitely looked good out there.
this is probably premature to say but i think that irving can become better than cp3 one day. also dionnnn waiters 17 pts and knocking down some 3s. waiters is going to be good too. oh man i love the NBA!
Cleveland is a nice young team, but only a 5 point win? Washington didn't have their best player or their starting center nene. The game was too close for my liking
They looked good and Scotts let the bench play almost have the game. Like everybody said they were Wall and Nene less and even with those guys there fighting for a 8th seed, but the Cavs are certainly improved.
They had something like a 16 point lead going in the fourth and then Scott put in Daniel Gibson, CJ Miles, Luke Walton, Zeller, and Thompson and the lead was gone with 3 minutes and he checked Kyrie, Varejao and Dion back in with the Cavs down 1.
Oh and for those of you who didn't get to watch Kyrie last year you'll be in for a treat. Some of the stuff he does just leaves me absolutely in shock. Could be the best finisher in the league because of his insane english on his layups.
Did I mention this kid at 19 years old has a post game!!! Complete with a jump hook?!? Kyridiculous.
With the left hand and some contact down low.
Anybody else expect Kyrie to average 21-23ppg this season?
His assists however trouble me...everytime he makes a great pass his teammates don't make the shot (they're horrible) but even if he got more players on his team I doubt he'll average 10 apg.
He has a score first mentality. I'm usually not all right with that in regards to PG's but Kyrie is so damn good at scoring that the best play the Cavs have is just clearing out for Kyrie to get a bucket.
He led the League last year in potential assists turning into missed shots. It was actually a real stat, I cant find reference but trust me.
i didnt get to watch the game, but i saw 1 highlight of kyrie doing a nice move. and oh my god, i really dont wan to jump the gun.. but ive never seen such good handles. he had the rock on a string in that 1 clip... I loved it.
I've been on record saying since Wall first year that Irving is better, and will remain so down the road. .
This is just nitpicky but at 1:37 you can see what I'm talking about that Kyrie sometimes misses wide open players. He had Varejao wide open and he opted to take a tough shot instead. It's okay since he's a great finisher, but I'd always go for the higher percentage shot.

ah... get... BUCKETS!!!!!!
Actually it could have been when Irving was drafted I been saying that. I forget, my bad.
If Cleveland keeps playing like that and Granger staying out injured, as a Pacer fan I can honestly say I am worried.
so.... would any1 still take wall???
only god knows how many negs i got for defending irving. all the kyrie irving VS wall threads is me going HAM defending irving; example (http://nbadraft.net/forum/irving-wall)
1 month and a week into the season last year i was saying kyrie irving is gonna be a top 10 pg very soon.
if they took away all the negs from my bold predictions that came true, and i would +1 myself i would be in the thousands of points right now.
Irving living up to the massive hype he was getting at the end of last year. I think he'll be considered elite really soon, and move his way up the PG ranks, even though it's stacked right now.
Good game for the Cavs, proud of my team. Everybody needs to relax and give D-Waiters time. Believeland baby.
Man people are going crazy after a game against the Wizards sans-Wall. I'd still take Wall, let the kid get back on the court before you start talking about how much better Irving is, I guarantee you Wall would have made his numbers drop.
I only watched the 4th, so can anyone tell me why Okafor wasn't playing in the 4th?
So glad i drafted both for my fantasy team
My biggest concern with Irving is his defense, last year he was aweful, hopefully it was due to him just trying to stay healthy and rested in a season where the Cavs couldn't compete anyways.
Anybody who watched the game, how did he look defensively?
