Whats up guys. I’ve been reading for a while but never posted a topic. Recently though, after reading some iggy trades, i’ve put together a trade idea that i’d rather have if i were a phili fan.

So basically it’s a 3 team trade between the sixers, the rockets and the jazz.

Rockets get Al Jefferson and Andre Iguodala

Sixers get Paul Milsap, Samuel Dalembert and Earl Watson

Jazz get Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Jeremy Lamb, and Arnett Moultrie

Now i’ve tried this in the espn machine and it seems to work. I kind of like this trade for all teams, but it does seem like the sixers are the losers. And i know Jazz fans only want to get rid of one of those 2, but honestly their future’s in thier young bigs not these 2. I don’t know i like it though, and i’m a jazz fan. And i know Scola’s contract is big, but he’s very servicible. And maybe the sixers need more, mayne a pick, or cash, or the rights to Tomic. And if i’m the sixers i like Milsap over D.williams anyway.

Well tell me what you think guys, and thanks for reading.

Yeah, hey sorry bro but Dalembert got traded before draft night to Milwaukee.  Besides, Philly loses too much in Iggy and a nice young prospect in Moultrie just for Paul Millsap…

Talking about a 3 team possibilty, apparently from a couple people the Dwight saga will likely come to an end this week with the frontrunners still BKN and LAL. Humphries situation has apparently been resolved with a 3rd team but the Magic don’t really want Brook on the kind of contract he will get for his production.

As for the Lakers, he apparently has no problem going to them, but the Magic are worried about paying Bynum as well. The thought in Orlando is to start from scratch and not already have a max salary on the books even if it is a terrific 20-10 big like Bynum. This is where apparently Houston may be coming into play as the 3rd team to help land Howard in LAL. They apparently have been salivating over the idea of getting Bynum and sending Orlando youth and a TON of picks. Morey realizes he only has a few more months to get something done or else he will likely lose his job.

Take this with a grain of salt, simply what another unnamed, very trustworthy Hollywood beat writer has mentioned on a another board, and even he said it was only what he had been hearing.

Utah is not going to trade both Millsap and Jefferson. Just one of the two, and most likely Jefferson. Here’s why:

    1. They might end up getting rid of both of them, but not until BOTH Kanter and Favors have proven themselves. So far only one has proven himself, Favors. Kanter may prove himself next year, we don’t know, we’ll just have to let that play out. We all think he’s going to be this great rebounding center in the mold of Al Horford and still be a good outside shooter like Memo but we don’t know that for sure. We only saw glimpses of that last season, but we don’t know how much of that is just a fluke and what really is there. So until we know for sure what’s what Jazz need to keep one of the two developed forwards they already have (Millsap or Jefferson)

    2. Millsap is very versatile. He may be an undersized 4, but he also showed us last year that he can shoot the 3, better than we all expected. True, he is not your traditional swingman, but he can play it in stretches. Needless to say the Jazz like that much versatility. If you haven’t noticed practicly every player on their team can play multiple positions. Burks is a 6’6 shooting guard but is also a better passer than you would normally expect. As a matter of fact in college he both started at the 2 guard and came of the bench playing the point. Hayward proved last year that he was a better 2 guard then he was a 3, which is what he was portrayed as when he was drafted. Favors can play both the 4 and the 5. Jeremy Evans can play both the 3 and the 4. Marvin Williams can also play both the 3 and the 4. And of course Millsap like I mentioned is extremely versatile. He can play the 4 but is also a better 3 than we all might have thought. Need I go on? So you see versatility works for the Jazz, and they want to keep that as much of a factor as possible. That means they will try to get rid of any 1 facet guys.

This means that any player that is not versatile the Jazz will likely get rid of. This is why the Jazz got rid of Harris and brought in Mo and Marvin Williams. This is also why the Jazz are likely to trade Jefferson to provide more minutes for Favors. Jefferson has been mentioned many times on this site as a "black hole" type of player. Meaning he only brings offense. He’s not going to play too much defense, nor will he pass the ball too much. Now it is true that Jefferson has tried to change as that type of player. He has done better recently, he did average about 2 assists a game last year as well as about a block and a half a game. He also had his best rebounding numbers in his entire career last year. So from a statistical standpoint he had a very good year, and you would expect him to stay, but you could always tell if Jefferson really wasn’t in his element. He never really was that great of a defender. He never could shut down somebody instead he would let Millsap or some other teammate shut his guy down and then he would come in and put the finishing touch, like getting the rebound after the missed shot or blocking a shot or making the pass once he gave up trying to find someway to score. So this is why I expect the Jazz to trade Jefferson instead of Millsap.

Martin would be nice player for the Jazz to bring in, but not Scola, when they already have a player like him, who I actually think is better (Millsap). Also the Sixers just traded for Moultrie. Don’t you think they tradeed him for a reason and not just as trade bait? And Houston drafted Jeremy Lamb, so they wouldn’t just draft him as trade bait, especially when Kevin Martin is likely on the move, and Courtney Lee is likely to leave as well. Jeremy Lamb has to be in their plans otherwise Houston would have looked to bring back Lee and not have put Martin on the block.

I think the Jazz will wait to see how some of the young players show after a summer of hard work, if Kanter and Favors show alot of improvement and development then I can see Big Al being traded but the young bigs need to show significant improvement. Also a big thing with the Jazz is the fact they will be way under the cap next yr and that will give them tremendous flexablity. That being the case I don’t see the Jazz making any trades that will bring a big or long contract unless the Jazz feel the player they will get would fit into their long term plans.
