Towards the end of the year Brandon Ingram showed an agressiveness to his game that the rest of his rookie campaign lacked and he has carried that into the Summer League as well. To me he seemed out of place for most of the year as he was one of the youngest players in the league and didnt fit physically or mentally. He seems to have gotten some nerve since Magic took over the team.

I think Ingram has the abillity to become a franchise player type talent and elite scorer in the league. The Lakers have an a very promising future and should be one the funnnest teams to watch the next decade with him and Ball. What do you guys think about these guys futures and there upside.

Too bad Ingram is out of the game tonight against Tatum and the Celtics.  Cramps and stuff… no biggie but no point playing yet another summer league game.

In the game against the Clips, he looked really, really good.  Reminds me of Tatum in that those two can be elite small forwards in a few years.  Other than freakishly long small forwards like Durant and Giannis, Tatum/Ingram are as good as they get.

Yeah, Ingram looks like an upside guy… you can compare him positively to a lot of different all star small forwards in that 6’7-6’9 range.

The jury is still out on Lonzo…

Wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if Ingram is the go-to guy and Lonzo is the set-up guy…

Is it a blessing in disguise tonight that Ingram is out for LA?

Ball can do whatever he wants now without defering.  He needs to attack the rim more, post up, and then make hard cuts off the ball when he passes off.

Lonzo looks like a "tempo" player.  He needs to find the speed of the game, and then fit into the tempo and let the game come to him.

I think his timing was off, since he seems more like a cerebral, improv guy than a textbook kind of player.

Maybe he was thinking too much, too…

I am looking for him to be more AGGRESSIVE and take fewer 3’s (5-6 in summer league should be his max, with 3-4 during the regular season).

I know he is known as a either a layup/dunk guy or a 3 point shooter, but he might be a guy who should spot up for 18-20 foot jumpers.  Defenses will probably give him those shots… and, if the advanced numbers guys at ESPN/538/theringer are right, the Warriors are so dominant in that they ALSO shoot really, really well on mid-range jumpers/long 2’s.

Even if Lonzo went 3/8 on long 2’s (and 1/3 on 3 balls) that isn’t TOO bad, and he could pad his stats with drives to the lane, short floaters, post-ups against smaller point guards, then off the ball layups/dunks/fast breaks, plus getting a steady diet of free throw attempts.

Then you are shooting 6/15 instead of 2/15.  That would be 13 points right there, and if he goes 4/5 from the line then he is up to 17 a night and probably filling the entire stat sheet.

If I were the Lakers, I would THINK about bringing in Phil Jackson as a "guru" who can do his thing…

Lonzo and Ingram (along with a couple of old school bigs like Brook Lopez and Julius Randle) SCREAM Triangle Offense.  Use Clarkson and Nance, Jr. as your standard pick-and-roll guys and fastbreak options, but also add some space and pace shooters to fill out the roster with Triangle Flexible players.  Bring a veteran like Matt Barnes back.  Bring in Bogut, maybe.  They need a few extra guys who can get you 7-8 points a night, grab a few boards, make some timely passes, and play some solid defense.

If I were them I wouldn’t count on getting SPLASH free agents, I would focus on internal improvements and savvy MLE pickups.  Lonzo, Ingram, Walton’s system, is a good start.

All NBA teams are basically playing for/building towards 2020 anyway and the Lakers are no different.  Yeah, if they can get Klay Thompson on board, they should go ALL IN, or another guy in that price range/age range.  Lonzo, Klay, and Ingram would be an AWESOME perimeter rotation with Randle as your (probable) fourth guy.

You can only really pay 4 guys anway (even in the Brave New NBA), so find two guys who really, really fit in well with Ingram/Lonzo.  If Randle is that guy, great, keep him, even if he doesn’t turn into an All Star.

Other than Ingram, the passable (literally) Lonzo, and Thomas Bryant, the rest of the Lakers summer league squad didn’t look too hot.  Looks more like their G league rotation than the back end of an NBA bench.

I wanna see something from Josh Hart.  He is an older college guy so he isn’t really young.  With Ingram out, I wanna see Hart get AT LEAST 13-14 points.  He and Lonzo and Bryant have to step up.  Otherwise, could be an UGLY game.
